The reason why all the prices are elevated, is that there will be 10% sales tax from October. Many shops - even from Amazon - have increased their prices to get in on customers panic spending pre-tax increase.
Which is so silly, since the tax increase will only really increase prices by 1.85%. And considering electronics drop in value, getting it earlier yeah.
Besides the deals, Akihabara is so FUN to do shopping on! Dozens of little stores to explore and tons of weird stuff always show up when you are looking for deals.
Built 3 budget builds after watching you. I love the hunt now. 1st is i7 6700 16gb ram and a GTX 1070ti all for $460aud then I got a i7 2600oc to 4gz 16gb ram and a GTX 970 that totalled $185aud the last build is a i7 920 with 12gb ram and a GTX 960 4gb for $170aud all have SSD and HDD in them and led lights and air coolers. The 920 will be getting swapped out for an x5670 as soon as it gets here from eBay. Keep up the hard work and get them deals
Where in Australia are you getting these parts? Black market bios switched? Those are insane last time I checked Edit: I can't find GTX 970's below 130~aud (and I'm on holiday in Europe searching around) Edit 2: I thought this over and you're lying. no way around it
@@randomsomeguy156 my main one I got from a local pawn shop they didn't know what they had and the other 2 came from FB marketplace as complete systems
If you were in Akihabara ten years ago you would have lost your mind with the amount of used PC parts there and even 20 years ago it was EPIC. I bought the parts for my first PC build in Japan from a store named PCBUYKING in 1999.
All of Orlando/Central Florida is like the Tokyo suburbs when it comes to gear. Local shop near me is charging more than Newegg prices for their video cards...it's crazy. Got me missing the old MarketPro shows.
built my pc when the 2600 first come out 16gb ram and i keep adding to it 2 graphics cards in it 3 ssd drives couple of spinners and it flys like a bird i love it and just keep adding to it and tweaking it
Something to consider while traveling is possibly purchasing the PC and then mailing it to your residence. Obviously I don't travel internationally so I don't know about VAT or anything along those things but it might be a viable solution to purchase at a really really good price and then mailing it home.
WD10EZEX was my first hdd i bought 7 years ago and man it was fast, you even did the video how it is being WD Blue is better than WD Black series, at the time was comparable to slower ssd's, it runs silent, cool and is fast - best bang for the buck - now sits in my brothers pc still working fine
I've been to both Dos Paras and Buy More stores and like the selection of hardware even if the prices aren't great. Nice to see the hardware in person.
Went on a bit of a used parts hunt myself and managed to snag a 1070 Ti (no warranty though) for 200€. Most 1070 non Tis go for 180-220€, from test I have done with OC its better than a stock 1080. I see that as an absolute win. Paired it with a 4790K (4.9ghz) and 2400 cl10 ddr3 ram that I had and gave it to my brother. Does +200 (2100mhz) on core and +600mhz on memory.
I love the Tsukumo store next to Don Quihote and got a Raijintek mini itx case for just $40. Gotta check out that used store next Nov when I visit again.
I've just swapped the x5670 in my media PC for a i5-4460 and to be honest I'm amazed at how much better the performance of the system is now. It's even breathed new life into the GTX 780 Ti in games, where with the Xeon I was barely getting 30fps in Assassin's Creed Odyssey at low settings, now I'm getting 60fps with a few of the settings raised to medium. The problem of course was the x58 motherboard I was using which had no overclocking support on it, even my RAM was locked at 1333 on it. x58 Xeons are a dying breed sadly simply because getting a good motherboard for them is increasingly difficult at a good price and if you can't overclock then they really aren't worth it.
Dude, I definitely can relate on building a pc for my son hoping that he likes it... I could also see those legos in the back, I have to say that we tech dads rule
Dang, Brian. I just got a 1 TB 2.5" SSD for $98 in USA. Regarding smell, my mother used to smoke 2 packs of smokes/day AT HOME (not including the 2 at work) and after a couple of years this literally left a nasty yellow film on EVERYTHING which, I would imagine, might leave an insulating film on everything. Considering the temperament of electronics, this might be problematic and it's CLEARLY easy to tell if the piece has been around a lot of smoke by the nasty scent.
Managed to pick myself up a 980ti for ¥13000 in Akiba not too long ago, looks like you managed to get some great deals there as well so props to you there
Awesome video. Response to your question of the day I find that people want 580 8 gig and 16 gig of ram. I think it is assumed that you get an SSD now.
Pretty good deal hunt, a couple i think could've been had for the same price online if you looked in the righ places, at least in the US i know you can pick up a 2600 for $60 on offer up shipping but all in all it was a pretty good deal
I have a strix gtx 1070ti build with a 3770k at 5ghz cooled by a Corsair h115i platinum with 32gb 1866 ram OCd with 1tb Samsung ssd and 2tb wb hard drive, what should I sell it for ???
Best deal was the Xeons, hard part is just sourcing a proper brand name MB for them for decent price that still has lots of life left. Those Aliexpress MB's just aint wort it, imo, for their lackluster bioses, warmer than sun VRM''s and so on.
Well Tsukumo is 99 (九十九)and Tsukumo Day (ツクモの日)is every 9th day of the month, so I'm guessing that is why they gave you the 9% discount to stick with the 9 theme for their stores. I usually check out my local Tsukumo as well when I have the chance.
Awesome vid. Funny, you won't show up in my feed for a month (and I watch 75%+ tech spots, with you, RGT, LGR, Adored, Coreteks, and Singularity Prosperity being my most viewed at least videos to watch ratio), then I'll get an alert and get to binge watch for 3 hours! Better than Netflix! About that fellow selling the 4790 PC. He's got to have 16GB RAM (it's ddr3, chances are 2x4 GB sticks so another $25 bucks for 2 more if he doesn't have them lying around) and a simple 120GB boot drive would be more than enough imo (really any size boot drive). I highly doubt he needs _bling,_ but it usually doesn't hurt. Besides that, it **HAS** to be absurdly clean, with numerous pictures which reflect that. Cable management, an alcohol swabbing followed by a thorough polish and shiny fans/heatsinks; that's all free, so it needs to get done. List every part and the specs. His FPS benchmarks on popular games he has, both old and new. Free games even if he doesn't play them are great too. If the rig gets 130fps in Fortnite @high settings, even if he doesnt play or like the game, use it as a selling point bc others do. Take Witcher 3 (or wtv game can provide astonishing views and are well known for their fidelity) screens with custom settings so it still looks great while putting up a high avg FPS. He really shouldn't have trouble selling that setup as is, but the RAM is a killer, the SSD is (to me) a minor issue if the RAM is doubled. Yeah, the only other thing I can see is presentation (and whether or not he is selling it with a Windows License; a ton of ppl don't want to deal with that. Again, like the boot SSD, no biggie to me or most of the ppl here as we'd throw a $10 license on a $10 ssd, but to an average consumer, that can be a make or break. You know what irks me about this? I bet if it had an Nvidia 1050ti or 970 it would have already sold.
hey Bryan I bought an Xeon-5450 for my 775 LGA board for only 13,50 euros including shipping, I am going to mod it to a 775 socket and play Minecraft with it. Should I pair it with a rx 570 4 gb?
Can you list the store names of the places you went to? I am going on a trip to Japan next month and want to check out the places you went to in this video. Thanks
That Ryzen 1700 for 12,778 looked like a pretty decent deal. 8 cores/16 threads going for well below the price on Amazon and Newegg (it converts to around $119 USD) and would certainly work for your son's gaming rig. I checked prices and to buy that chip new it costs a lot more than that (anywhere from $170~$320 USD) but of course I don't know what things look like in Australia or the used market. *Edit:* I just saw that 1700X for 16,480 which converts to $153.21 USD. That doesn't seem too bad either. And nevermind, you found a 1700 for an even better price, nice :)
