NOTE: You can investigate at a location, even if there are no clue tokens there (which may help you trigger some other card effects). Also, assigning and applying damage/horror is a two step process. This allows you to assign both damage AND horror to an asset (let's say, for example the Beat Cop at 24:47) before it is discarded.

@@DWRoelands totally replayable. First off, each scenario does not necessairly put all locations in play at each stage and some events are also sometimes randomized. Then rerunning with a different set of investigators can affect the dynamics quite a bit. I would think rerunning campaigns 3 times keeps the game fresh, then you can add affordable Return To boxes which adds/complements/adjusts for another good 3-4 reruns for each campaigns. Then the awesome standalone scenarios like Excelsior Hotel, Rougarou, War of the Elder Gods, etc… plenty of replayability and the new all inclusive format is like 30% cheaper than the old business model with 1000% less the grief to find the content.

@@NicholasGiaimo They're on stands, you can see one when the beat cop is removed at 24:55. Its an excellent effect though and a fantastic presentation for card actions
35:54 Small correction. Each investigator in player order draws a card from their deck. If those cards have a revelation effect, you must resolve them at this time. Then after everyone has drawn their card (and resolved their effect if present), each player gains a resource. This is important especially for the weakness card "Paranoia", which causes you to lose all of your resources as soon as you draw it. But since you gain a resource after, and not before, you will have at least 1 resource available on your next turn. BTW drawing a card and gaining a resource in the Upkeep Phase is mandatory.
What are the other ways of gaining resources? Was it only the upkeep or with the 1st action option? And if you get a resource you can't draw a card as an action right? It just seems like we need a lot of resource tokens coming our way.

If you bought the core set and haven’t yet played it, watch this video before playing. Yes, all 43 minutes, you’ll save yourself time. I read the rules to teach myself and it took me 4 hours to get through the first scenario (which now takes about 20 minutes). Rodney does an excellent job of connecting the different mechanics so that the rules make intuitive sense. Grade A tutorial.
Thanks for the kind recommendation! It's a big video, but my hope is that it still saves quite a bit of time from having to go through the rule book, and hopefully the visuals add to the clarity.

I’ve always had a tough time “getting into” card games like this (for some reason I haven’t identified yet, I prefer going to locations on an actual board or tile map rather than on cards) but your explanation convinced me to put it on my “possibly” list! Thanks Rodney!
Hey, thanks for checking this one out, even though it might not be your typical go-to. I found that this card game really stood out to be because it does give you that sense of place, and a board game unfolding in front of you - so yeah, this one might appeal to you more.
Rodney! I know you hear this all the time, but your video explanations are truly the BEST!! I've watched so many videos on this game but yours is exemplary.
I own almost all circle (expansion) of this game, and I still want listen to this tutorial!!! Awesome tutorial video as usual Rodney, thank you very much!!!

I just wanna add that I never respected game trays. Then I started using them(for this game, actually) and felt like a darn fool for not doing it sooner. Thank you Rodney, for slowly breaking me down until I submitted and bought some
I'm a new board gamer and I always look for one of your videos to explain a new game. This one seems particularly difficult for me to grasp but I'm looking forward to finally "getting" it. Thanks Rodney!
Thanks Rodney! Been waiting for an Arkham Horror LCG video for a long time. Maybe I will finally get around to playing it from my growing shelf of shame!
I'm very impressed by the way the video is displaying different game-materials. I didn't read all the comments, so I'm gonna write it here: One thing I noticed is that you said: "If your investigator is at a location with clue tokens on it, you can perform an investigate action." Actually you can investigate at any location no matter if there are clue tokens or not. This will give you some fancy passibilities depending on what your character wants to do.
Thank you again, Rodney for another stellar and clear instructional video. I went and picked up the revised box today after watching your video last night, and am excited to give it a go.
Your videos just keep getting better and better, Rodney. You're the king of teaching games! If you don't mind giving up the goods, what's your camera/lighting setup these days? Loving the look of these.

Finally! My go-to channel for learning new games covered this game! I tried learning this game during this darn pandemic via the hard way (by watching a LOT of youtube tutorials and playthroughs). I am just so happy for others who haven't yet tried this game! Your channel is still the best in learning new games. You make it so clear and easy. I especially love how you make it flow smoothly, i.e., aptly raising questions as the one watching might be thinking and answering and explaining them right away almost all the time. I also admire your continued humility on always welcoming corrections as needed to make your videos better. And man! I can really say the production quality of your videos now has been phenomenal compared to the starting days of your channel! But high quality production and excellent content aside, it's still the sense of this channel having a heart that makes me enjoy its videos even in its early days. You really seem to always care a lot for everyone to learn these games.😊 Thanks again, Sir, for your videos! A hopeful new year to you and your family!🌈
What a very kind and generous comment to leave Kulisap - if I can continue to live up to this standard, then I will be fulfilling my goals for the work we go here. Thanks for being with us all this time, and happy new year to you and yours as well :)
Thanks, that's the first video that actually helped me to get into Arkham Horror...! I bought the game 3 years ago and struggled to get into it, since I dont have a local Arkham scene. I tried it a few times and stopped in the first minutes. This video actually gave me a walkthrough, how to handle that game, thanks a lot!
I just got back into the LOTR LCG with a couple of new expansions, and thought that this game was the same system with a different theme. Watching this (fantastic!) review has made realise that I also need this game haha. It looks really great with lots going on

It is a fine line - I never want a video to be longer than it has to be, but I also want to ensure the time you're spending watching is truly helping you understand and lock those rules in as much as possible. Thank you for the very kind comment and welcome!
I've learned multiple games from you so far including this one, which I don't even have yet, it's currently on the way in the mail, haha. Thank you sir, your videos are fantastic.

Wow thanks for the great explanation! That seemed a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be. My revised core set should arrive any day now..... Can't wait to dig in!
Just got into this game after using the “art book” as inspiration for short stories/illustrations……..literally just finished playing through the 1st scenario solo after reading all the rules and watching this video a couple times. Definitely has a lot of potential, but I feel like it’s a game that requires a sit down discussion of gameplay before inviting other people to my game (just based on the intricacy of the rules/turn structure)
@@WatchItPlayed Your quality has definitely gone up since I last checked. Nice job! I'm particularly intrigued how you coordinate with other content creators into your channel (which I love).
Thanks Rodney. Santa brought this for me for Christmas. I haven’t had a chance to play, and I am getting ready to introduce it. It looks great. Definitely elements of Mansions of Madness, but I think my wife will like it better because she did not like the App in MofM. I am hoping to play it with my daughter too, but doing a campaign game with her is hard because she is busy and doesn’t regularly visit…. So It may just be my wife and I. Great explanation and video as usual. I really appreciate all your guidance over the years!!
Frank, I've been playing this regularly of late - so many creative scenarios and challenges. I hope you really enjoy diving into it, because there are a load of different adventures and ways to approach them. I think the game works great at two, so I hope you enjoy diving in!
Great video and clear explanation, very helpful, thanks!! Question - if I would get The Dunwich Legacy Campaign Expansion, that does not include new investigators. Would it still be fine to play it with the investigators from this revised core box?
Thank you for this great tutorial! I own the old core set and wish I could exchange the first aid cards - the ones shown here are much more pleasant to look at..
I am very new to board games(only tried a few like ticket to ride)and very excited to try this type of games. what do you think ,should l?( Though new, think I can manage complex games)
This is difficult to answer, because I think every player will have their own opinion about strategy. This is a game I have enjoyed playing, so maybe you might as well?
Btw a very slight correction - at 19:57 the phrasing probably pertains to the calculation of the final skill value, but it also might imply the other investigator committed a card AFTER a Chaos token was drawn. I think it's important to emphasize that all boosting of the value must be done BEFORE the chaos token was drawn (unless one has a card that explicitly breaks this rule via explicit card text). Also, the timing charts in the Rules Reference are extremely valuable to untangle minute details about Skill tests, especially when it comes to when is one allowed to do what. :)
Yes, the rule that talks about boosting (when it is first explained in the video) indicates that it must be before the Chaos draw. This moment was more of a listing of all the potential modifiers, but you're right, it could potentially mislead someone if they weren't playing close attention earlier.
Great explanation as always Rodney! Would love to see more tutorials for other Fantasy Flight games such as Marvel Champions and Arkham Horror Third Edition!
Had this game sitting on my shelf for a little time. Getting ready to crack it open. Not sure I've had a game that I feel so apprehensive about digesting rules v. Getting simple mechanics under my belt. So want to love this game and become another AH tragic!
Thank the heavens I needed this! I tried to play Arkham Horror LCG about a year ago and found there were so many edge cases that the rulebook didn't explain. Thank you so much!
Nice. Video still and now it's perfect imo. The original from FFG is nice looking but has mistakes witch I find wierd from the maker of the game xD and I am happy for the changes made to the video from the last comment section.

Rodney! I know you hear this all the time, but your video explanations are truly the BEST!! I've watched so many videos on this game but yours is exemplary.
That's very kind of you to say - I'm really glad you found this presentation helpful!
I own almost all circle (expansion) of this game, and I still want listen to this tutorial!!! Awesome tutorial video as usual Rodney, thank you very much!!!
Thank you Duy - I hope it affirms all the rules you already know!
every time i get a new game i hold my breath as i search how to play on youtube, just hoping Rodney has covered it...
this has been a great explanation yet again to help get up to speed, between the rulebook... this video and already a relatively experienced lord of the rings lcg player
it's been a breeze to get into this game and i am really enjoying it, already trying to figure out what the first expansion i will get
And there are lots of expansions waiting for you :) Very glad you enjoyed the video!
I just wanna add that I never respected game trays. Then I started using them(for this game, actually) and felt like a darn fool for not doing it sooner.
Thank you Rodney, for slowly breaking me down until I submitted and bought some
lol, I have a stack of them that I keep near my game area, and use regularly. :)
Just finished my first watch through before I start a campaign. Keep up the excellent work!
Thanks a lot - have a great time playing!
I'm a new board gamer and I always look for one of your videos to explain a new game. This one seems particularly difficult for me to grasp but I'm looking forward to finally "getting" it. Thanks Rodney!
Welcome to the hobby Jay. This one has a lot of moving parts, but hopefully the video helps give you some confidence as you dive in.
Thanks Rodney! Been waiting for an Arkham Horror LCG video for a long time. Maybe I will finally get around to playing it from my growing shelf of shame!
Hey - seems like as good a time as any!
I got it today and thought you would have and old video about how to play it... it turns out you put one out just in time! Nice!!!!
Nice timing :)
Yes, good catch!
Thank you again, Rodney for another stellar and clear instructional video. I went and picked up the revised box today after watching your video last night, and am excited to give it a go.
I hope you have a great time playing! I'm looking to playing a few sessions over the holidays as well!
Your videos just keep getting better and better, Rodney. You're the king of teaching games!
If you don't mind giving up the goods, what's your camera/lighting setup these days? Loving the look of these.
Very kind of you to say - I hit you up with a reply to this question on your Facebook post.
Just got this core set on clearance and sorted it all out. Thanks for teaching me how to play :) love your videos! ❤
A pleasure - I hope you have a great time playing. Nice find!
Either you have, like, play a board game or not, watching Rodney's videos is a delight by itself.
Thanks really kind of you to say :)
Just bought arkham horror the card game revised and you helped me a lot since I was confused about some rule details. Thank you for your videos keep up the good work!
Very glad to know it was helpful George, have a great time adventuring!
Amazing video! You explained how to play this game so well and it was very enjoyable to watch. Just bought the game and can't wait to play it with my wife!
I hope you both have a great time playing!
This is my favorite game of all time, glad to see you showcasing it Rodney!
I was really excited to get the chance to cover it!
You really seem to always care a lot for everyone to learn these games.😊
Thanks again, Sir, for your videos! A hopeful new year to you and your family!🌈
What a very kind and generous comment to leave Kulisap - if I can continue to live up to this standard, then I will be fulfilling my goals for the work we go here. Thanks for being with us all this time, and happy new year to you and yours as well :)
Oh wow, this would be a treat to have back when I started ot play AH LCG back in 2019. But I'm glad you did this now, Rodney! Thanks!
Never to late to discover a game, right? :)
Choosing Agnes is always the right choice. #TeamMystic
You're very welcome Steve, I hope you have a lot of fun with the game!
Awesome video!! Been a player for a couple of years now but still found this informative and enjoyable. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind comment!
Amazing explanation! Rodney, you are outstanding!
Thank you kindly Erril, have a great time playing!
I just got back into the LOTR LCG with a couple of new expansions, and thought that this game was the same system with a different theme. Watching this (fantastic!) review has made realise that I also need this game haha. It looks really great with lots going on
Glad you enjoyed what you saw! Definitely a different system from LOTR LCG :)
Okey I saw 3 video guides 7,15 and 20 minutes because 43 min was too long…. After that I watched your video and I will never watch shorter or any other guide then yours! You explain everything I dont get with perfect editing and informations! You earn sub and big fan :)
It is a fine line - I never want a video to be longer than it has to be, but I also want to ensure the time you're spending watching is truly helping you understand and lock those rules in as much as possible. Thank you for the very kind comment and welcome!
Super insightful and helpful for getting back into the game, awesome video!
Hey hey, glad you enjoyed!
This was a perfect refresher. Thank you!
Very glad it helped - happy adventuring!
Mate, I literally received my copy of the revised set today. Perfect timing. You legend!
Hey, that's great! Have a great time adventuring!
Love your work Rodney. Awesome game too. Thanks for the play through.
Thank you kindly!
I come once a year to remind myself I'm playing correctly. Thanks Rodney!
You and me both!
Wow appreciate this! One of the best games ever
Glad you've enjoyed this one :)
As always and outstanding "How to play". Thanks Rodney.
Thank you kindly Baliusd!
I've learned multiple games from you so far including this one, which I don't even have yet, it's currently on the way in the mail, haha. Thank you sir, your videos are fantastic.
So glad to know you've been enjoying - have a great time adventuring in Arkham :)
I love your videos Rodney! They are of such high quality, and you explain the rules exceedingly well. I would watch your videos over any rulebook.
I've also noticed the dramatic increase in production value in your videos. Keep it up! It's excellent.
Thanks so much for the kind comment!
What a perfect tutorial. Thanks Rodney.
Very nice of you to say - thank you and have fun playing!
To our Patron Saint of board game rules learning, Thank you Rodney Smith!
A pleasure to assist - have fun playing!
Wow thanks for the great explanation! That seemed a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be. My revised core set should arrive any day now..... Can't wait to dig in!
I hope you have a great time adventuring (and saving the world).
This is my favourite game channel. I always watch before i get a game.
That is so nice of you to say - glad you're enjoying!
That's the video I should have watch first, you answered all the questions I had. Thank you, this is a very well done and informative video.
So glad you liked it - have fun playing!
dude, literally amazing work, thank you!
Thank you kindly!
excellent comprehensive video. wish this existed back when I first started.
Very kind of you to say!
Yes!! I just re purchased this game. Right on time!
Excellent - let's dive in together :)
Definitely a game with some moving parts!
Best youtube channel for learning gameplay and rules.
Very kind of you to say Sam!
I've played like 4 campaigns and this video taught me that engaged enemies move with you
Hey hey, glad you picked something up from this!
Thanks for making this!
You're very welcome - have fun playing!
Little known fact is that Rodney is a real life magician. Hence how he is able to always get the cards to stand up on their edges.
It'll be our secret.
without this video, my wife and I would be screaming at each other.
Hope it helps reduce the screaming. The screaming should be saved for the horrible monsters you're attacking :)
Holy moly - you are incredible at this. Never seen you before. Hats off!
Glad you enjoyed - welcome!
The best tutorial video ever made! Great job, so clear !
Very glad you enjoyed - thanks for the kind words Will!
Perfect! I need a refresh of the rule after 6 months hiatus
I was happy to have an excuse to get a refresh too - keen to dive into the new adventures :)
This is a perfect explanation of my favorite game. Excellent production.
So very kind of you to say John!
We love you Rodney ❤
Glad you're enjoying - I was just playing this game today :)
Nice job.... Can we see an updated behind the scenes how you go about planning these? Your filming and editing workflow too
I do get requests for that from time to time - if I get some spare time for something like that, I might.
@@WatchItPlayed I hope my wife will agree. My daughter is loves mystery games, so..... We'll see. Fingers crossed.
You are such a wholesome man, thank you for the video.
Thank you kindly!
Ty for all you do for us Rodney. Happy holidays to you and yours 🌟🎄🌟🎄
The very same to you!
What a whopper of a video! That thing was dense! Thanks Rodney!
You're welcome!
Great video and clear explanation, very helpful, thanks!! Question - if I would get The Dunwich Legacy Campaign Expansion, that does not include new investigators. Would it still be fine to play it with the investigators from this revised core box?
Absolutely, or investigators from any set. have a great time investigating!
Thank you for this great tutorial!
I own the old core set and wish I could exchange the first aid cards - the ones shown here are much more pleasant to look at..
Yes, they did a nice job updating them!
I just love the way you explain the things. Is there high strategic atmosphere in this game besides the in depth theme.
Thanks for the interest Westin!
Thanks Rodney! Another great vid.
Thanks Adam!
Had this game sitting on my shelf for a little time. Getting ready to crack it open. Not sure I've had a game that I feel so apprehensive about digesting rules v. Getting simple mechanics under my belt. So want to love this game and become another AH tragic!
I believe in you - hopefully the video can help :)
@@WatchItPlayed Video was super helpful. Started playing yesterday. Cheers!
Thank the heavens I needed this! I tried to play Arkham Horror LCG about a year ago and found there were so many edge cases that the rulebook didn't explain.
Thank you so much!
Hope you have fun diving back in!
I JUST got this, thanks! You're very concise. I should've come here first!
Very glad it was helpful!
Nice. Video still and now it's perfect imo. The original from FFG is nice looking but has mistakes witch I find wierd from the maker of the game xD and I am happy for the changes made to the video from the last comment section.
Thanks for the quick spot on the early error!
Playing the game for five years and still learned something new: Enemys exhaust after their regular attack. Does this have any nice consequences?
Hey, glad it helped! The consequences are just all of the related rules to enemies being exhausted.
If I wanna get into some cool Lovecraftian games should I play Eldritch Horror or Arkham Horror?
If u love the world adventure go eldritch
If you love a city adventure go arkham 3rd
Or if u love lcg or card go arkham horror lcg
And if u love playing with app go mansion of madness
@@jirayu1424 Perfect answer!
Thank You, Rodney! This has helped me so much!
I wonder how many times Rodney had to shoot the intro to catch the box the right way round?
Are you suggesting it wasn't the first time? *gasp*
He's One-Take Rodney for a reason!!
Just picked it up for $10 sealed. Looks like I got a steal. Ready to learn and play. Thanks Rodney.
Great deal!
@@WatchItPlayed Finally had time to do a solo campaign on this since the wife does not like role playing and complex games. But I came across a couple of things that I did not see in the video or I might have missed it.
1. What does Shroud do and what happens if the numbers increase or decrease?
2. On the player deck cards there are some cards that have the same symbol on the far upper left hand side. If there are 2x of the same symbol what does that mean?
3. Do you recover from damage and horror once it comes back to player phase? If not what are ways to recover from horror damage.
4. After the first act is completed does the existing damage and horror carry over to the next act.
Thanks for all the hard work. Love your helpful videos. 30 mins of knowledge is hard to keep retained but after playing it through once it helps a lot.
@@kongvue5160 I've been playing solo too and enjoying :)
1. Check the video section labeled: Action: Investigate.
2. Check the video section labeled: Boosting Skills
3. You do not automatically heal. Certain card effects can heal you though.
4. No, but certain traumas might, anything like that is covered in the scenario book, which you'll find referred to under the section of the video called Scenario End
@@WatchItPlayed awesome. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial!
I think I know the rules but I’m not 💯 sure! 😂 that is why I’m here 😁
Team work makes the dream work!
Am I crazy or did this go up yesterday then disappear? Drove me nuts when I thought I saw it and then couldn't find it again.
Same lol
That is what happened. Had to make an adjustment.
Thanks, just what I needed to start getting into the game!
That's so nice to hear - I hope you have a great time adventuring, and thank you so much for the kind support of the channel!
What a great video. So helpful. I'm about to start my first playthrough and this really helped :)
Really nice to hear that - have a great time playing!
By far the best tutorial video on this game. This man is doing God's work
Very kind of you to say - glad you enjoyed!
