As someone building a new save, I realize I struggle with coming up with a theme for a neighborhood. I want more cohesiveness , not necessarily aesthetic - though that might be part of it, but more about what kind of buildings might tell a story by themselves in terms of who might be living there and why.. It might be partly economic or cultural, I don't know. How do you think about it? I'm really curious.

@@SamD.6445 oooh, this is a great question. And honestly, it’s something I struggled with when building Doo Doo. This is something I’ll definitely discuss in my save file video. But to give you a bit of an answer, I think aesthetic and cohesiveness go hand in hand. Having a certain “look” for each neighborhood really sells the mood and is important for establishing the stories you plan on telling (be it from an economic or cultural perspective). The best way I found to go about is to start big with the world. What’s the story in this “town”? What real life Inspo can you draw from? Getting an idea of the overall theme of the world made it easier for me to tackle the neighborhoods and achieve (what I hope) a more cohesive look and feel.
Again, I plan on going in more depth (and giving a better explanation lol) in my how to series. But I hope this can be of some help :D

Yeah I'm really looking forward to the video! I do find certain worlds , like Windenberg, the Occult Worlds, San Myshuno, Brindlteon Bay come with a strong vibe that I can easily build on, but there are other worlds that I have much more difficulty with. Newcrest, San Sequoia, even Copperdale to some extent. Generic suburban is harder somehow to hang a story on.But I like your idea of economic basis for neighborhoods. I am just starting to use For Rent to make apartment complexes which can have their own vibe I think (I got that from your videos).

@@jesssimm9418 No worries! I'm using Amobae's Hazy Days and Blueberryade (w/ tweaks) reshade, plus Softerhaze's Sunblind lighting mod!

I have that same photo saved on my pinterest!!! it kinda gives uncanny valley to me- it’s probably the lighting.
Btw, if you are doing a series on save file tips, i’d be interested in your thought process behind making community lots! how do you give a build character when no one lives in it? how do you decide which is more important- aesthetics or functionality?

Lol. Definitely leans a bit into uncanny valley! And thanks for the suggestion! I can definitely provide some input on building community lots :)
