The start of Honda's small car era and predecessor to the Civic.

These were imported to the US in the early 70's.
I believe this was their motorbike engine, hence why it revs so high.

The brochure is a nice find. These were quirky little cars. It was the Civic of the early 70's, that really put Honda cars on the map. In Australia, I saw a few N600 as a kid, and some of their mini vans. They also had a tiny chain driven sports car. But apparently, the engine was so high revving, it had a tendency to self-destruct.

Nice one, pretty unique styling with the tail lights, but looks ok to me. I don't remember ever seeing this car for real, but I have a green Hotwheels Honda N 600 model anyway :D

I have an old shape 2005 Civic, she's 20 years now. 1.6 Vtec, executive, all leather inside, heated seats, sensors, electric sunroof, not a spot of rust, everything works. 28k miles. I bought her as a run around because the wife made me sell my 5.7 Camaro, My 2.6 V6 Omega Cd and my dads 2.2 Omega CD. They have no heart! It never goes wrong, probably never will and never fails MOT, probably never will. And, it's ULEZ compliant, not that I ever drive her into the smoke ;-)

A very bold strike from a motorcycle manufacturer in entering the car market.

Something about this design makes me think of the Innocenti mini, maybe its the front end or the squared-off back? I don't remember these at all but its good to see them here as yes a very important vehicle for Honda helping it to gain followers in the UK

I remember having this brochure before I bought a new 1969 N600. It was a fantastic car.

Wow" this is ultimate" QL) Thanks for this brilliant" broucher review: i did touch on this a few months ago, when you, covered the Mazda 1000/1300 review, that a local convenience store in the late 1970s to early 1980's had a collection of small Japanese car's, that they used for delivering groceries. Including a Honda N600) I've always been fascinated by them , and have allways wanted to drive and own a Honda N600: a mustard colour Honda N600: is on my wish list!! But I'd settle for any other colour.

Thank you for teaching me something new. I did not know that Honda were in the UK market in the 1960s.

I remember these in Australia when I was young. I never drove or rode in one, but I reckon their performance would have been equal at least to the Mini (which I did own and drive regularly in the mid seventies), and without the annoying quirks of the Mini like front mounted electricals that got wet in heavy rain, causing a breakdown, and the downright crazy gearbox beneath the engine sharing the same oil sump. Also the little Honda N 600 had a back seat with a folding backrest, something which the Mini did not. I didn't hate the two sixties era Minis I owned, but from 1978 on any new car I have purchased has always been Japanese. Two Toyotas, three Daihatsus, one Mazda, two Hondas, and three Suzukis. This covers from my single days to my first wife's death in 2015, and until in 2017 when I married my Filipina wife and decided to live in Cagayan de Oro City Mindanao. I've had two trips back to Australia since 2017. My adult son has owned a Suzuki Alto since brand new in 2013, and my adult daughter has had a Honda Jazz since brand new in 2018. We are pretty much a JDM family.

13:48 Those seem like internal engineering charts, used for designing the car and choosing the gear ratios and so on! Not something that would normally be in a brochure, but it seems there a few things in the brochure that were included by engineers rather than marketeers (like the climbing angle!).

My primary school teacher had a yellow one of these in the early 70s. Always thought of it as a curious little machine at the time akin to a Bond Bug. Now I love it, and in my opinion it's such a pretty car and so stylish compared to a Mini. I wonder why Japan (a right hand drive country) modelled a left hand drive car in a brochure for the UK? Thanks for showing the brochure.

Ps.. I actually saw a white N600 ) for sale last year in Suffolk UK) but it was only suitable for spares, I feel you'd probably have to import one now to find a nice usable example, unless you get lucky with a nice example coming up for sale in the UK. As there so rare!
