I know this part northern Ontario very well.very realistic. You have the very busy caramat sub. And the quieter kinghorn on the other hand.or as my grandfather called it “ the old cn”
Great job of filming, Ben. Justin has done a superb job on his layout ...... very realistic and absolutely beautiful. This deserves 5 stars! Thank you for sharing. Mike
Nice work. One suggestion for your friend - the prototype won't stack a 40' container on top of a longer container - it's a support issue. However there is no problems putting a longer container on top of a 40' container. Otherwise well done. Edit: I'm wrong - just seen a video where the prototype did it - my bad...
I really like the layout it is beautiful. You can definitely immerse yourself in this setting with all the sights and sounds of railroading and nature. Are those CN vans from Rapido or True Line trains ?
I really like the gravel Spurs and the front loader that area is really nice your signaling leads be a little more realistic it doesn't turn green again after the train leaves. But it looks super good and I love how the scenery Blends into the backdrop
@@Chasingrail okay I get that... But in your video when they can boost past it turn green right away what type of signal controller do you use? Maybe it's a setting does yours have a ability to connect to your computer or a laptop?
I can operate it both on CTC and ABS. Currently its set to ABS because I don't like running back to the computer every time a train runs through a scene.
@@virmico1 Still a little fast.. When you are working with models, you have to slow the model way down to look like their going a realistic speed through the cameras eye.
@@NSSCOTTTEAGUE : What I found interesting when the video was slowed down was not only the train movements were more realistic, but the sound (especially the Soundtraxx Soundcar) was much more realistic. Slowing the video down gave the HO scale trains an impression of weight and momentum that one would see in real life. It reminded me of Gerry & Silvia Anderson's SUPERMARIONATION filming technique's used in THUNDERBIRDS, FIREBALL XL5, STINGRAY etc where the models are filmed in real speed, but then slowed way down to give them a size, heft and weight that one see's in real life. ua-cam.com/video/sPlBgg4YOfk/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/ECyzMhSTsRI/v-deo.html For you, working in N Scale, the impression of weight and momentum is much harder to achieve as it would be in HO. very impressive👏, the scenery looks👀 like the real thing 🙏. You did a great job on the truck 🚛, too. Love it. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see more of your scenery soon. Greatings from Germany and a Happy New Year.
The scenery is gorgeous- any chance your friend might be able to indicate some of the products/techniques being used? Very rare to see such realistic scenery- really blends well and is "vertical"- not "clump" like so may model RR's scenery. Well Done!
I know he uses a lot of Scenery Express stuff the ballast, SuperTrees, static grass. The photo backdrop is custom made by him and he uses an airbrush to blend the trees into the backdrop. Justin, care to chime in?
Super trees for the deciduous trees with pine trees made using the twisted wire method. Super leaf used pretty much everywhere. Bushes are dyed poly fibre and super leaf. Like Ben said, everything is airbrushed to the custom backdrop
@@JPKafal Thanks Justin. How did you create the ground cover- is that the poly fibre w/leaf? That is what is very impressive- the vertical nature of the grassy/low shrub areas. It appears more involved than just poly fibre- it looks layered and has smaller shrubs/weeds/etc throughout. Very well done.
I drive crew buses contracted to CN in Wisconsin. LOL!! This is really cool. I haven't seen any CN cabooses. But this really looks the part. Thanks for sharing this.
You have done a great job with the scenery, Justin. Great choice of colours and nicely blended. Keep up the good work. Loved the addition of the sounds of nature!
Wow Your buddy Justin did a great job, when the scenery is all done you need to do a before and after video, thanks for sharing Ryan

Fantastic, your friend really did an excellent job. Thanks for sharing this with us. Keep up the good work! What system does he use to do the CTC signaling?
@1:59... the scenery test... look at the scene with no train... if it looks REALLY GOOD with NO train in the scene, you got good scenery... this is REALLY GOOD scenery
@@RyanTheRailfan You are correct, but not on the sharper curves here. I agree with GRE 2057. Impressive work, no doubt about it. Just slow the trains down.

Very nice foreground scenery backed up by some good backdrop painting and the two blend very well.
Justin layout is exceptional by any standards.
Realy nice scenery well done great trains
Realistic shots on the trains nice job
THANK YOU...for sharing. Nice loader and lowboy, tractor too!
Trees and shrubs are amazing
That looks so real
the foliage and tracks really pop on this layout. well done.
Great scenery. Just couldn't help thinking how much better that CN train would look coming round the bend with superelevated track.
The curve out of Staging isn't as it leads into turnouts and that caused lots of derailments. The rest are
Very realistic!
very nice my compliments sir
Beautiful.
You have done a wonderful job!
All I can say is wow!! Nice collection of rolling stock.
WOW!!! Amazing work on the scenery. A couple of the shots it looked lifelike
Awesome, and running a caboose too!
Very impressive, excellent work! Justin captures the Northern Ontario look from the thick underbrush to the slaggy roadbed.
Thanks Alex!
Wow! That’s such an awesome layout! Can’t wait to see yours scenic too!
What a difference a well detailed and some observation on landscapes does. Looks really great and very inspirational!
Excellent attention to detail!
The modeling is excellent as always, but the sounds of nature take it to a new level.

Ontario Northland made by Atlas
