Lucario is another one of those characters that was buffed extensively throughout multiple patches. Wouldn’t be surprised if people stuck with the idea that he was bad when the game launched and never realized he got much better since. Like what happened with Corrin and Incineroar.
Lucario is definitely a character that is underrepresented right now. There’s a lot that the character has going for him. Mixups, good frame data and nice kill moves too.
This tournament was upset city, love to see it! Especially that game with Armadillo, been watching him for a while and he has made me see how scary Lucario can be in the right hands. I definitely don't think Lucario is a low tier anymore that's for sure 😁
spallow is a tech where plant swallows and throws ptooie at the same time reducing the lag of the move. This is dropshot, the execution is basically the same but it makes ptooie fall below plant and even through platforms.
Maybe Tweek looked at Lucario's stats, moves and frame data and came to that conclusion. If you have any idea how to play the game well/possess alot of game knowledge then you'd probably come to the same conclusion after taking a thorough look at Lucario's kit. There is no way a character with that much mobility, safe moves, combo potential, mix ups, ledge trap options, good recovery, a command grab that beats spot dodge and 2 frames can be considered bad. Ya'll never get it until it happens but the truth could be discerned if you actually took a thorough look at the characters kit, it's not hard.
@@cullenhutchison6528 Ganon would also do well against Diddy just based off Diddy's poor KO power but obviously that's not true. I encourage you to actually LOOK at Lucario's stats, hitboxes, frame data and kit. He has literally everything you need in a character plus a good gimmick. Mobility ✔️ , combos ✔️ , grab combos ✔️, good recovery ✔️, tech chase options ✔️, multiple 2 frame options ✔️, good burst option( frame 7 dash attack) ✔️, reliable anti air uptilt that starts combos ✔️, fast rising aerial that hits low(fair) ✔️, one of the safest aerials on shield(nair) -2 ✔️, strong air to air(bair) especially with aura ✔️, reliable kill confirms from aura sphere ✔️, overall great projectile due to it's versatility ✔️, a command grab that beats spot dodge ✔️, decent edguarding ✔️, ledge trapping with aura sphere ✔️ and THEN there is the comeback mechanic. And a frame 4 out of shield option(dair) ✔️ . What more do you want in a character to do well?
I remember saying Lucario is alot better than what people say on an old larry stream and got ganged up on by a couple of morons. Morons who either didn't know that Lucario stats/mobility is really good or alot of his moves are also really good. People just keep regurgitating the same crap about him: he's only good with aura, he does no damage. His neutral is good, his stats are good, his moves are good therefore he's good without aura. Aura is more of added insurance to an already good character.
If you are in tumble and you press A right before you hit the ground, you can land without having to tech. This is because you start to nair but the nair is canceled by landing. This only works if you are in tumble, not hitstun.
I’m glad to see Banjo-Kazooie getting some wins, lol. I thought his B move, holding it, and U-tilt, because it doesn’t scoop, were bad, but it turns out those moves have some use.
Lucario isn’t a bad character by any means. Definitely high mid tier. He’s just super execution heavy and his weight being nerfed from smash 4 makes a difference. He’s got a lot going for him and you wanna talk about mixups? Oh boy the mind games get crazy with all the cancels and b-reverses and wave bounces. I honestly think he’s just unexplored and underrepresented.
@@minixlemonade2335 Lucario’s movement is b-reverse and wavebounce heavy. As well as aura sphere cancels. You don’t just jump out of aura sphere charge. You can also cancel it on the ground by lightly tapping the shield button. For example, let’s say your opponent is caught shielding aura sphere charge, you can cancel the charge into force palm, run away into b reverse aura sphere or you can jump away to read something else. Basically you need to make the most out of your cancels and you can’t drop. It may not sound like a lot but I promise you in execution there is a lot of room for error.
@@strikerali2160 Yeah none of that is execution heavy. Those are just basic movement options and basic shield cancels. It's slightly more than your average character but I wouldn't call any of that hard on the hands. Have you seen Sora combos? Or Peach float cancels? Mewtwo utilizes a lot of DJC in combos and in movement tech like shadowdashing. At least in my opinion
@@minixlemonade2335 In comparison to Peach and Sora sure it’s not that bad but as a Lucario player I get pain in my thumbs/fingers hands in general after a while. If Mewtwo is up there then so is Lucario and one thing they all have in common is that if you can’t land those combos or cancels you aren’t going to be successful and that’s why I put him in the same category as them. Plus the room for error in all of those characters (Lucario included) is large and if you don’t utilize them at a top level it makes a huge difference. S/O to Larry. He probably has the best watch parties whenever he does them. He even gets more viewership than Hbox 💪🏾👏🏾
Everytime he does a watch party I always gotta watch fr
