  • Back in October 2023, I took a 10-day trip hiking all over Central and Northern Oregon, including the coast. The first 5 days were spent hiking the awesome trails in and around Bend Oregon. This is the first hike I did on this adventure. Located 45 minutes from Bend and 20 minutes from Redmond is the lesser-known Crooked River Canyon Overlook Trail. The hike starts in the small yet quaint town of Crooked River Ranch. This trail is labeled as moderate at 2.2 miles round-trip and 518 feet of elevation gain. You basically hike down to the bottom of the canyon to the Crooked River. The views are pretty amazing going down and at the bottom! You are more than likely not to run into anyone else on this hike as well!

    Blue skies and full sun, man I am so missing both and the ability to get out on a hike too, far too wet and muddy here. Nice to be out on a 10 day trip and getting weather like that on your first hike out. Nice hike out following the river and for the time of the year quite colourful as well. If you want a steady hike out without the crowds, you sure got it on this one, cheers Alan

      It was a great hike to start this trip off with definitely! I was very fortunate the entire trip for the most part with the weather. I only had one day with extremely heavy rain and I couldn't hike! It was beautiful going down into this canyon! Having it all to myself with the best part! Thanks Alan!

    Beautiful and great views. And and such a quite hike without other people. I would like it very much. We visited Smith Rock and turned towards Olympia Last September. Greetings😊

      This hike is not too far from Smiths Rock! The solitude was definitely amazing! The only thing I could her was the birds and the water! Thanks for checking out another video of mine!

    I know you said only a 518 feet in elevation but how was the hike back up, from the video it looked a lot steeper than that (might not be the Grand Canyon but still looked deep) there must of been switchbacks to use, cool little town from the tour at the start you must of had a good time there

    • @adventuringoutdoorswitheric
      @adventuringoutdoorswitheric  8 місяців тому +1

      It really wasn't too horrible going back up. No switchbacks it was more like a dirt road going back uphill at an angle. The town was nice, but I didn't really spend too much time there. I came just a hike because I was going to do another trail that was much longer somewhere else right after! But it would be a nice place to stay. Thank you so much, Craig.
