Out of all the villains I've ever seen, I think I like Weyoun the most. He had such personality...the only flaw he had was his unconditional loyalty to a people willing to commit genocide. And Weyoun 6 was the best of them all...willing to see that the war was wrong.

#6 was the best one. It is a shame the writers didn't want to take a chance on having him survive for the story. I always felt it was a missed opportunity that Odo never tried to claim some of the ships & minions that were his birthright. Maybe if he had been more active in dealing with his people and trying meet them partway, he could have ended the war before it escalated so much.
No, the Founders whole ideology is against it. The entire reason Odo and his "brothers" were sent out was because the founders preemtively wanted to gather intel on threats to later eliminate them. They consider conquering Solid races and keeping them under strict control absolutely essential because it was the only option that ever reliably worked for them. To make a real world analogy: North Korea has Nukes. People like Trump think they can convince them to give them up through negotiation and debate. But North Korea won´t ever give up the Nukes because Kim has seen countless dictators who did so and shortly afterwards faced the consequences. For example full scale rebellions by their people, The US invading, the US sending assassination commandos or their next door neighbors deciding to invade now that the nukes are gone. Same case with the Founders, you can´t reason with them in this regard because to them there is no alternative. Though they do it smart and take their time in certain areas to make them look trustworthy, best example beeing the Romulans. While they leave Romulans "freedom" in theory, in fact they are fighting and conquering all the Powers surrounding the Romulans. So once the Dust from the Federation Klingon campaign settles the Romulans find themselves effectively surrounded on all sides. Then from one second to another the Dominion attacks from all directions until they reach Romulus.
I don't think Odo could control his own army of minions. Aside from loyalty being genetically coded into the Vorta and gem'hadar the founders also had many levels of security that assured obedience from them. For example Odo would need his own massive supply of white.
Though, Odo wouldn't be one to command the Vorta and Jem'hadar. Since he would have to act as a God to make them to do things, which is something he is against.
The Sisko: "It was an honour to serve with them" (the jem hadar). Weyoun #6: "It's just such an honour to be sitting here with a ... Security Officer." It was an honour for us to watch him too :) .

i love how we randomly learn that the weyouns we had seen for countless episodes were killed offscreen and no mention is given till were 1-2 weyouns later lol.
Weyoun 4 is the one we first meet. We learned of the cloning when we met the new one, since they made it up just to bring him back. All other appearances til this episode were Weyoun 5 where we learn of his death.
Most episodes gave you reason to hate the Weyouns and root for their deaths but this scene highlights how sad their existence, and the existence of all of the cloned servants of the founders really is.
Who watching this after odo "rene" passed away.... He was a great actor and a great character he made us all laugh and cry. I wish him the best in the next. #DS9 #loveyourene
Stefan Travis The Dominion is those three parts; Founders lead, Jem’Hadar fight and Vorta administrate. It is the order of things. Take away the founders and the other two would go off the rails and the Dominion would collapse.

Wayoun 7 was defective, or to put it another way: had a more serious aproach to survival and his promotion. He lied to the founders or played situations down to further his survival on many occations and it is a fair assumption to say #taht the domminion would had a way better standaing if it wasn't for him. Anyway, if they killed Odo, the Domminion would massacare every cardassion in the Alpha Quadrant and burn their planets to glas.

What's great about this episode. Is it plays with the idea that a person can be swayed in their position, and standing. All it takes is 1 little spark, to make even a fanatic turn.

What I do love about DS9 is not the boosting in its simplest form of atheism and that there are no Gods in our limited imaginations but agnostics! No matter how scientifically we advance as a people until we evolve beyond our own arrogance and ignorance of the universe then we'll truly be a limited species! Alas as they say we have to go through the bad stuff to be at peace with ourselves! Scarier times are still to follow before we can make the pantheon of beyond!

This is why DS9 was the true diversity Star Trek. Every single species except the creepy one with the masks had both good guys and bad guys. Morality was in choices and actions, and accident of birth may have informed these but was never destiny. Weyoun 6 was the proof of how committed the show runners were to the theme.
