- A compilation of the various Weyouns' deaths throughout Deep Space Nine.
Sources are the episodes "To the Death", "Treachery, Faith and the Great River", "Strange Bedfellows" and "What You Leave Behind".

Weyoun: Weyoun 5 was killed in a transporter accident.
Damar: I totally didn't do it and you cant prove otherwise.
It almost looks like Damar mouthed the word "accident" when Weyoun 7(?) said it.
And the way Weyoun pauses before saying accident, then looks at Damar.
There are no Transporter Accidents, just people stuck in stasis
It is entirely possible that it _was_ an accident, and nothing more.
"He said surface of Cardassia, I thought he said teleport to the surface of our sun. Look mistakes happen"
I love how both Weyoun 6 and Weyoun 7 both know that Damar is responsible for the "accident" and have a moment of shared annoyance at him for the death of their past selves.
Or at least _believe_ it was treachery. Such suspicion is in their nature.
Keeping that in mind, it _is_ entirely possible #5 was killed by an accident.
There was an episode where some dude built a machine that was supposed to make you live longer if you rest in it, and the guy working on it said that people are trying to get him and his associates were killed in "shuttle accidents", which he doubted were accidents. Weyoun met that guy and tested the machine at the end of the episode.
Then that same Weyoun died in a mysterious shuttle accident. I think this is all a nod to that, meaning that the crazy tinfoil hat scientist was actually right about his conspiracy theory.

Still, let's face it; even if it were really an accident, and unambiguously so, there is _nothing_ that could have kept the Weyouns from suspecting treachery.
That is a core element of their personalities.

The Founder's remark when the last Weyoun is killed sounds like Garak had just smashed an old valued family heirloom rather then killing a fellow sentinel being.
Everyone in the Dominion treats Weyoun like Kleenex. When the Cardassians drag him out of the room, I half expected them to just dump him in a corner and throw a towel over his corpse or something 😆
Well yeah, why not? Changelings barely consider any solid life form worth their respect - let alone the Vorta, who are deliberately designed to have all the dependence of a neurotic pet. You would be hardpressed to respect something that was practically designed to be contemptible.
@@LM-xw7ii Yeah, Changelings regard all solid life forms with contempt just because of what some long dead solids did to them thousands of years ago. They also see the Vorta and Jem'Hadar as having the potential to plot against them which is why they programmed the Vorta to be sycophants and made the Jem'Hadar drug addicts plus they made them dislike each other.
The only Changeling that I care about is Odo, the rest of them are disgraceful creatures who have allowed fear of Solids and some bad experiences with Solids turn them into the monsters the ancient solids claimed that they were. I feel bad for Odo that he has to live with the fact that his people are like that.
At least she feelt, something. You won't get more from a xenophobe. Weyoun would still appriacite that.

The one Weyoun who tried to defect always stuck with me. Hate him or not but weyoun away from the founders seemed like a pretty chill guy
I always liked weyoun
the thing is he wanted to serve the founders still he just thought their fear made them irrational and that they would get themselfs wiped out and if you look foward he wasen't wrong the founders nearly got themselfs fully exterminated and also nearly destroyed the dominon because of their desire for control out of fear

Hard to say, they're not really allowed personalities or lives outside their service. The founders didn't even give them the ability to enjoy arts are varied tastes in foods in their so called "elevation"
Him being chill is what made him so frightening, like when he's nonchalantly talking to Dukat about eliminating every last person on Earth because that's where the resistance will start without even giving it a second thought.
No matter how many times they try to kill Jeffery Combs he just keeps coming back. Just goes to show you can't keep an excellent actor down.

They actually retconned the "cloning" gimmick as a way to keep him busy and away from the snacks after the fifth failed attempt to explain his character had been killed off.
One of my favorite quotes in all of Trek: "You should have killed me. There's only *one* Damar."
I'll keep that in mind.

The best part of that death was the next scene, when the newly cloned Weyoun 8 comes to meet Damar for the first time, and Damar jovially exclaims "well helloooo" and "maybe you should talk to Worf again!"
I absolutely love the female changeling's response. "I wish you hadn't done that." Such a British response, it almost feels like comedy to me as an Englishman.
3:26 literally the only Weyoun, nay, the only Vorta who has ever been held at death and blessed by a Founder.

Weyoun was under severe stress. After dealing with Worf, he just snapped.

The way Weyoun 6 finds absolute contentment and peace with his death once Odo gives him his blessing is beautiful and sad. It just shows how the Vorta are trapped in the state of a child that just wants to impress and please their parents but are typically treated with contempt by the Founders; he finally finds his ultimate sense of accomplishment with Odo in that scene.
I don't like how the Founders treat the Vorta and the Jem'Hadar with contempt. Sure, they're blindly loyal to them and come across as sycophants but the Founders made them that way and serve them well so the Founders shouldn't get mad at them for being what they were programmed to be.
Yes, it's a problem they can't really escape. The Founders really did create them in a meaningful way. Yes, the Vorta are effectively slaves to the Founders, but isn't that what gods do?
His experience with Weyoun 6 is very important to Odo's character development. He's deeply troubled by being worshipped, and by Weyoun 6's death. The scene later where Kira shows an understanding of it, that Weyoun 6's faith in the Founders and in Odo specifically was enough for him to die peacefully.
From Weyoun 6’s perspective, it is somewhat different. He chose a Founder to follow in Odo.
When he shows up again with Damar, nursing a bottle "HELLOOooo" lost my sht.
„…maybe you should talk to Worf again muahahahaaa“ was the best line ever :D
Or said "You should have seen the look on your face... you sure didn't see it coming! Here, I took a holoimage of it for you..."
Say what you will about Weyoun. But Number Six got to die while looking in the eyes of a person he considered one of his gods.
He got his BLESSING! That Weyoun probably died the happiest out of any Vorta. I had forgotten how much the "By Grabthar's Hammer" scene from _Galaxy Quest_ feels so much like this one: both extremely moving to see a cynical security officer comfort a pure hearted alien with a dying benediction they don't actually believe but know how much it means to them.
And Odo is the one Changeling who deserves to be called Weyoun 6's god.
Weyoun 5-8 seemed to have died in rapid succession. They even ran out of Weyouns in a supply chain problem.
Yeah supply chain was a real mess during the Founder Pandemic.
Damar specifically chose the facility he was cloned at as a target.

I always wanted Weyoun 6 to survive. Considering how he was "defective" I expected them to do more with the "good" version of Weyoun.
Plus, having Combs as part of the main cast, even for just 1 season, would have been great

In the DS9 relaunch books, Odo has them clone another Weyoun 6 and has him act as his assistant within the Dominion
Loyal Weyoun was just too good to pass up for more than a few episodes. But the one season of Good Weyoun is a fun idea!
enemy defects are too cliche in the star trek universe, it was done in TNG, and TOS, the writers would rather have it to where all help for the coalition was received by their own people, not outside assistance (other than damar, but he had his genuine reasons)

Its not a story the Dominion would tell you.
Weyoun Five was so powerful and so wise he could influence the Founders to create peace.
He had such a knowledge of the Dominion, he could even manipulate the ones he cared about... into joining him.
The Dominion is a pathway to many philosophies, some consider to be, unethical.
What happened to him?
DS9 was one of the best Star Trek series. Always good to watch parts of it again.
Depending on where you live and what cable stations you have, you can watch all original five Star Trek series in order Sunday thru Friday.

Was a bit slow at the start, but it picked up when the Dominion appeared. Like all the other Star Treks, it needed a believable antagonist.

I love the implication that Damar arranged Weyoun 5's death, and seemingly for no constructive reason... he simply disliked him that much. I like to think he did it for himself on his birthday after drinking a little too much kanar.
And Damar's expression when 6 offs himself...! Oh he probably felt a warm fuzzy feeling.
Weyoun is still one of my favorite bad guy, henchmen. He could be funny and incredibly creepy all at the same time. Let share a round of heavily poisoned Kanar in his honor...and then not drink, it is poisoned after all.

The death of the final Weyoun was so cathartic for DS9 fans.

Except the post-DS9 novels pointed out... Weyouns 1-5 came from a Gamma Quadrant lab.
The Federation & its allies never reached Dominion space there...

In the past, such life forms existed on their own, feral. But along came humans, a more advanced life form who impose order on nature for their own advantage.
Humans decided they wanted to keep such creatures around, and working for them.
But today, Banana trees, and. Seedless Oranges, Corn, and other living species have been crafted to serve people first, and foremost, AND couldn't continue without human support.
Good bet the Vorta are "Functionally Extinct", with their species now consisting of only a few dozen or less genetic templates?

The Dominion may have Weyoun's genetic templates on file, but there is no guarantee they will generate any more. 😞
I've wondered if they had subjugated the Federation, would the Founders over time replaced the Vorta with Betazoids?
The Founders don't really respect their subjects, no matter how loyal and how close to them.
If Betazoids were better, or could be altered to be better than the Vorta, would the Vorta have been discontinued like the Oldsmobile, and their numbers slowly diminished down to zero, in a few Centuries?

Watching Weyoun die multiple times was the best part about his character.
Probably my favorite character played by Jeffrey Combs.
Commander Shran was his best character.
@@keithallver2450 I admit Shran was also a great character, but I still consider Weyoun to be his best. Shran was brash and straightforward, but complex enough in his sense of honor. Weyoun was far more complex in his subtle manner and manipulative tactics. I believe it would have taken him far more effort to play Weyoun.
I vote for a one off episode where all Jeff Combs characters meet, all played by him 😁

Weyoun 1 sank into the swamp. So they cloned another one. Weyoung 2 sank into the swamp. So they cloned a third. Weyoun 3 burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But Weyoun 4 stayed up!

Odo and weyun were in the ship together for hours alone and all he found out from the one person who knew the most about the dominions war plan, was something they already knew (but not any details about it) and the vortas favourite food. WTF odo
When weyoun 6 committed suicide, this was in season 7. Odo had become a changeling again. I can’t remember the whole episode but if Weyoun 6 hadn’t killed himself, it seems like Weyoun 7 could have been executed himself if the Jem’Hadar had actually destroyed the ship that Odo was on.

I love how Jeffrey is playing the same character but with each different version he brings something new with little quirks that lets you know it’s a different Weyoun

I like how the Jem'hadar First waited until Weyoun put down the case of white before vaporizing him.
And thus the Year 2375 was known as the Year of the Weyouns...

3:15 one of the most touching and sincere moments in the entire series. DS9 has the best character development and story lines by far! None of the other series even came close. Hell I even found myself being sympathetic toward the dominion at times. Feeling bad for the Jem’hadar. Loving the vorta race and even cheering for the cardassians. In TNG I fully supported the romulans and found the Vulcans to be the bad guys. DS9 even validated my feelings about the Vulcans when they made a Vulcan serial killer who used pure logic to murder random ppl
you know as a villain i liked Weyoun just in general, there was actually something likable about him

When weyoun was looking over at Damar after he mentioned they never did an investigation or found out who operated the controls, it pretty much told me who did it. Damar mentioned there was no foul play 😆 Im sure there wasn't after weyoun 5 was dematerializing. Damar: Whoops 😆😂! I laughed my head off 😂
@@InfernosReaper That was later, after he had started the Cardassian Rebellion. Damar being responsible for the transporter accident makes sense, not only because of his hatred of Weyoun 5, but also because it took out a single person in less traceable manner. Damar was likely interested in getting rid of Weyoun 5 specifically, not necessarily the whole line. He may have even hoped that a different Vorta would be assigned to take Weyoun's place. In any case, at the time, he still was rooting for the Dominion (and by extension, Cardassia) to win the war, so he wouldn't have sought to destroy an entire facility to eliminate one person, especially since such an action could be traced back to him. After he rebelled, he didn't have those limitations.

Vorta are stated to have an immunity to poisons, and considering the way they generally behave to others, you have to wonder how many Vorta they went through before the Founders thought it prudent to add that to their genetic template.
I enjoy very much how the Jemhadar and vorta and just basically dogs pining for the founders passive aggressive scraps
