What also makes Whitney so special was the fact that she can stand there, sing AND gives us a performance! I remember a friend was like Whitney isn’t a performer she is a singer and I was like huhhh?? Her gestures, the eyes, the voice EVERYTHING she didn’t need to dance or dancers. It’s like she is dancing and singing with her voice and body alone all while standing in one spot. DYNAMIC!!!!

I agree totally! Whitney is a singer, not a performer. I have this conversation all the time discussing the differences between the two. All she needs is a microphone or not. Whitney is comfortable with a band or singing a cappella. How many singers of today can be counted that can sing with or without some form of background music and be totally comfortable doing so. I submit, not many.

Whitney was simply the best vocalist of all time. No gimmicks, tricks, whistle tricks, ear pieces gadgets, or back up dancers or singers depending. Just her standing there flat footed and out singing everyone. Straight up undeniable vocal control, power, superior stage presence and bird like vocals. She simply had a gift like no other. If one is to summarise this performance I'd say in this performance Whitney understood fully well the assignment handed to her and then she executed it flawlessly and regally to perfection in every single nano second of sound she produced and every single minute physical gesture of her body language. She passed the assignment with flying colours and with the highest distinction possible. Whitney take a step forward and cement yourself in the annals of history of VOICE PERFORMANCE! People who don’t sing at a caliber that requires you to be this on center will never understand just how IN HER BAG she was this night. I’m Telling You is the best singers last song, Whitney put it in the middle of a set and then delivered one of her most captivating performances of I Have Nothing she ever did. There’s a point in the last half of that song where you see her face shift, like an athlete coming around the last curve of a 3200 meter race, the joy of enjoying that last stretch. You can see her enjoy her gift, enjoy the reaction to the mastery of her gift, the admiration and love, you see her drink it in and give it back. A truly beautiful moment, 10 minutes of straight, flat footed, center stage singing.

This is my ALL TIME favorite single performance, EVER! She was honestly a beast at medleys like this. But on THIS night... Whitney got on that stage and showed her natural black behind! Hahahahaha! (You know what I wanna say, but I'm saved! lol) The fact that she pulled the audience into a full on ROUSING standing ovation in the middle of the performance... I cannot imagine the energy in that room! I literally would have been in tears! And I am so glad you pointed out how crazy difficult it was to do all three of these HUGE songs back to back! Like WHO is crazy enough to do that... and THEN kill it like THIS! INSANE! I really don't think we appreciated the gift we had in this woman. I wish the world was better to her. For her to give us THIS! I was amazed by this performance when she was alive, but now this literally seems not humanly possible! But this whole moment was a culmination of perfection! Whitney is clearly front and center... but the band!!!!! STRAIGHT FIRE!!!!! AND the camera men captured some BEAUTIFUL shots of her! Those close ups, especially that part where her eyes are closed and then she slowly opens them and looks up and around at the audience! MAGICAL!!! It's like she touched people with her eye contact. Like many said, this is a MASTERCLASS! I would love to be in a room to just have a complete discussion about this and just breaking it down. AGGHHHH there's SOOOO MUCH HERE!!!! Her vocal coach said before her death he was training her voice and she was back ro 95% of her natural singing voice hitting high notes and belting he said she didn't stick with the training cause Clive sent her on tour and Whitney thought she could handle it he said had she continued her training put the cigarettes and alcohol down she would've been back to normal she also had heart disease which affected her breath support you can tell in her last performance she was always out of breath plus after she died they checked her vocal cords and said they were not damaged at all perfectly in shape so again that shows it was mainly her breath support and the lack of coaching that made her sound like that.

This Woman is the reason why I got into RnB, the reason why I got into Gospel, she made me understand and see why there is a God, every time she sung gospel she wasn’t just singing a song…. She had a testimony and you heard it in her voice, you saw it in her face, you felt it in your emotions and you felt her emotions. With everything that she has done, and sung…. SHE UNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT AND ANNIHILATED IT AS A WHOLE!!! I am so grateful God for allowing me to be born in this generation where not only I was able to witness her amazing blessing, but the fact I was able to witness her becoming what we know her best to be THE VOICE!!! Anytime i feel a certain way, I can just listen to Whitney, she has dealt with heartache, degradation, she was used, neglected, she had to deal with not being herself when in all truth if she had the choice she would have been with Robyn…. I understand her. Her whole life is testimony, and though she isn’t here today to still bless us with her talented voice, she still till this day is helping ppl through her music, her movies, her interviews, she’s a whole vibe!!! What A blessing!!! Just imagine if she was still her today… she was already on her road to recovering and she would’ve made it too!!! Low self esteem and mental health is real!!! She felt that she could not do what she had already accomplished in the past and it affected her. No matter how big we are at the end of the day… we are still human. ❤

For over 10 minutes Whitney sang and she showed the world yet again why she’s THE VOICE. People need to understand Whitney’s version of And I Am Telling You was totally different from Jennifer Holidays. Let me explain why I say this…In Jennifer’s rendition she’s singing about how she wants to hang onto her lover/man and she is not going to let him go. When Whitney performed this song she was at the height of her career and her personal life…she was becoming a movie star after already being a music star, she had just had her baby and her marriage was pretty much in a great place. Her singing And I Am Telling You she’s telling the world that even though nobody wanted her to be with Bobby, she was not going to leave-she was going to stay and you (the world) are going to love me (her). Nobody could deny that she loved him during these times. You’re absolutely correct that Whitney on that nigh sang 3 different genres of music with ease and perfection.

Can you please for 2023 share a video of your vocal range! Because damn I'm thinking you can keep up with the best of them! I adore you and your channel and so looking forward to your content this year! Miss Houston was an icon and my favorite singer! She literally taught a lot of us in our generation how to sing and I know we all studied her! God bless her forever and always.

    Sooo powerful!!

Quite simply the performance (one of many) that handed her the crown of greatest singer. She (according to her music Director) knew well how difficult this would be, had the confidence to mark every breath, register voice flip and understood that this performance would be a stellar moment that would long outlive her time on this earth. She knew how great this was, God Bless you Whitney - you left us the Greatest Gift of ALL. You remain the Queen for 40years - 100yrs will come soon enough.

It’s so crazy, the second you started saying she has the classical qualities in the way she sings, you started sounding EXACTLY like her. When you were talking about your classical tenor days. So cool. That’s exactly what the quality is and I’ve never been able to figure out what it was.

Well, we call her The Voice for a reason! She is the best to ever do it in my book. Her tone, delivery, diction, notes leading up to her climax& high notes were everything. She gave us gospel, pop, rock, R&B, jazz, and opera. Even in her later years, that unmistakable tone was still there. Nippy shall forever be #1 in my book!!

I think the way she articulates is like British. Very southern British, how they would say posh southern British people speak. Every word is clearly finished. That's part of why she was huge world wide. Her vocal delivery transcended globally and introduced her to different audiences in my opinion.

Ms. Houston delivered a perfect performance! It wasn't just that her vocals were incomparable. Her whole presentation is unmatched. In a talentless world that worships trash, she still stands out as a standard bearer of class, style, dignity, and talent that is truly proof of the existence of God.
While today's performances are more suited for strip clubs and brothels with people wearing more makeup than a clown, we were given this gift from above. She stood before the audience, resplendent, covered head to toe in a classic gown which featured a most complimentary blue tone and modest sequins. She wore limited makeup, which, although not even necessary, perfectly displayed her elegant facial features. Her hair was perfectly made in an almost regal crown for her. She then seduced the crowd with her expressive eyes and tone. We are all privileged to witness this iconic and perfect marriage of beauty and talent. God bless you, Ms. Houston!
