For me she was the best female singer of my generation. Not just because of all the reasons you mentioned but because her voice was extreme pleasant to listen . I remember I was in Boston on April 86 . I had just arrived in the US . I listened to “ How will I know “ and immediately got deeply sucked in . One thing I had no idea is that a great performer also brings the band into another level . Thank you so much Ken for another great dissecting video. You rock 🤘
She is the worlds golden voice. Her voice can switch characters from innocent to angry to sultry and sexy to powerful monstrous that can tear the arena's roof off. She is the most mesmerising and fairy like performer I've ever heard 😍😍😍. First time hearing her voice in the radio we don't have television when I was 15 yrs old around 2009 2010 but I had goosebumps, she is singing I will always love you. I asked my cousin who is that girl singing , he said he does not know. I bet she's popular, that's it I looked for her songs and idolized her since then. 💕💕💕Her name is Whitney Houston. It's sad she passed way too early but her voice is timeless.9

Thanks for pulling back the wonderful layers of this "spot on greatness." Singers like her are a gift from God. Your a gift to. Thanks for inspiring me everyday.
God gives us a taste of his heavenly genius once every now and then, he puts this in human form. This woman is an example of this... she had the voice of angels. I get emotional listening to her, it's nice to see someone with your calibur feeling the emotion as well. I can remember when she hit the scene, the was just no one that could touch her. People would compare her and Mariah all the time, which I like her too but Whitney was in a league all her own. So sad to think drugs brought down yet another great talent 😭 💔
Something I think that really gives her the edge (amongst ALL the other countless reasons) is that she stays ever so slightly ahead of the melody. She's the lead act and the conductor, setting the pace and passion of the band behind her. She just had *IT*
I know, right? Every time I hear her sing, I get goosebumps (and sometimes tears.) Simply no words for that caliber of talent.🔊🎤🎚🎷. It's like our ears aren't even worthy.
Will you do more Whitney? I think she'd blow you away even more than you can imagine. I know you said you met her and saw her in the studio but I don't what timeframe. She has some live performances where even you would not think it possible for a human to sound like she did in her early years.
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy, you couldn't have picked the most emotional and honest performance of Whitney - I've watched this concert and she is one with the troops - it is moving and I fill up every time, with the lady as such a giver of her heart and soul!!
As I watched this with you, I was genuinely moved to tears. The way she sings and works the crowd, even when she wasn’t at her best vocally, is such a gift and a treat. To see you get emotional as I was wiping the tears from my eyes floored me, sir.. you have a new subscriber.
Whitney does feel each word she sings here. Absolutely insane!! A lot of emotion. Her energy "contaminates" the band members, the audience, and me as well. Wow! Nice choice, Ken. Thanks.
She had actually sung several songs before this one. She did a show for the military returning home in a hanger at one of the bases. There is no singer that is better. God gave her something special.
This performance was just magical. 🎵 Her vocals are out of this world, and the sax player is amazing. He compliments her voice perfectly in this song !! 🎵
Flawless!! Perfection!! I too find myself tearing up listening to her sing. She had a voice that only God can give you & she always recognized that & gave thanks for being so blessed. Another woman in her league was Karen Carpenter. She always invoked so much emotion with her beautiful voice. She had that rare beautiful low register. I’d love to hear you review Superstar! God gave us 2 Angels on earth for a short time.
Karen Carpenter is one of my favourite voices and singers. So is Whitney. I knew it wasn't a coincidence that I loved them both. Both had a warm velvet voice that had so much emotion in it. I could listen to Karen forever
purkabe12 I listen to Karen often and each time I’m so amazed at her beautiful voice. I read that most songs she did in one take! John Lennon was a fan too! I guess Karen was walking out of a restaurant in LA & John Lennon was walking in. He said “I want to tell you love, I think you have a fabulous voice”. I guess John didn’t give a lot of compliments & she just didn’t know if he was being kind or sincere! She had low self confidence which unfortunately aided in her demise. Whitney also had low self esteem......😥
Whenever I heard Whitney sing, it was like a whole orchestra was emanating from her. Her voice makes me wonder if, even the angels wept, when they heard her sing.
So sweet to hear your video on Whitney. To me she is one of the greatest singers of all time. Her live performances in her prime are untouchable. I saw her in concert twice and I’ll never forget how every song was absolutely stunning. I’ve never heard a singer sing live and it was ALWAYS better than the studio version. I miss her so.
I cried with you Ken. Listening to her sing was a spiritual experience really. Just seeing her become the song. She was one with the song and the music and still aware of her audience and the gift she gave to our service people

Whitney had one of those tones/pitches/emotional vocals that ALWAYS brings a tear to your eye. Like shattering glass. Gone waaay too soon.
Badass - couldn’t have put it better myself. Her control was astounding...
imo the most powerful and technical voice of all time. Also your reaction is great Ken.
Panagiotis Skordilis I agree.
Ooo Whitney ♡ Best singer in this world ever! How is possible voice like this?!
You rock 🤘
joe- I know what you mean!
The voice of the 80's for me, soul and talent in every fibre, couldn't miss her.
The voice: mixture with her passion- it's just perfect
WMA ❤️
She was the best!
@@kentamplin she's THE best indeed
I'm SWAHILI from TANZANIÉ 🇹🇿
I remember I will always love you is her first song I heard on the radio
I was instantly mesmerized
I thought she's Celine Dion until I grew up and found out it's Whitney THE VOICE Houston 👑😭🙏
She just had *IT*
Just send all would be singers to a black church choir. That's where all the greatest singers are created.
Specifically Cogic, Pentecostal, and Baptist
She will ALWAYS be the Mount Rushmore of singers EVER. How can anybody surpass that?
I don't think anyone can surpass Whitney. One of a kind.
More Whitney Houston
You finally got in the performance, too!! ;) it was a very sad loss when she passed away, Whitney was a unique talent!!! Peace & luv.
How can you find the words to describe this miraculous voice?
I know, right? Every time I hear her sing, I get goosebumps (and sometimes tears.) Simply no words for that caliber of talent.🔊🎤🎚🎷. It's like our ears aren't even worthy.
Whitney was. and forever will be the queen!!!
a master class indeed.
Will you do more Whitney? I think she'd blow you away even more than you can imagine. I know you said you met her and saw her in the studio but I don't what timeframe. She has some live performances where even you would not think it possible for a human to sound like she did in her early years.
This one was tough. She was unbelievable.
5speedMax UN BE LIEVABLE!
I remember in the 80's, when in highshcool I used to style my hair like hers.
Whitney Houston is one of the best vocal artist of all time!💟
LorealBrazell She certainly was!
I LOVED her. She was our gift from heaven for sure.
I’ve always respected Whitney as a singer, but UA-cam has allowed me to experience her in some amazing ways to where she is now the undisputed top vocalist for me. The way she sings and works the crowd, even when she wasn’t at her best vocally, is such a gift and a treat. To see you get emotional as I was wiping the tears from my eyes floored me, sir.. you have a new subscriber.
good ear my boy. u got it...she's the best
Totally agree one of the best.💞 songs ever
My favourite Whitney number - just an INCREDIBLE artist and HUGE MASSIVE TRAGIC loss :(
That was great! She is KILLER....and the sax player is great too!
Whitney does feel each word she sings here. Absolutely insane!! A lot of emotion. Her energy "contaminates" the band members, the audience, and me as well. Wow!
Nice choice, Ken.
Thanks.
My favorite of all time, this performance makes me cry still😢
Glad you enjoyed it!
She had actually sung several songs before this one. She did a show for the military returning home in a hanger at one of the bases. There is no singer that is better. God gave her something special.
This woman's talent. Tears man.
This performance was just magical. 🎵 Her vocals are out of this world, and the sax player is amazing. He compliments her voice perfectly in this song !! 🎵
Wow ilove you Ms wthitney Houston..♥️♥️♥️
100% agree on your thoughts that was total mind blowing performance ...... :)
She was amazing, genesis!
Your comment coming from your soul, and I admire you MR. Ken. I believe that WH was the best vocal ever on the earth, and I miss her deeply. 🌹🙏
I watched this multiple times and She gives me the chills every time. She was in a league of her own.
I think this is a perfect performance for sure. just a powerhouse, and was so in the moment the crowd was in love
Can’t avoid getting emotional with that performance ❤
Whenever I heard Whitney sing, it was like a whole orchestra was emanating from her. Her voice makes me wonder if, even the angels wept, when they heard her sing.
So sweet to hear your video on Whitney. To me she is one of the greatest singers of all time. Her live performances in her prime are untouchable. I saw her in concert twice and I’ll never forget how every song was absolutely stunning. I’ve never heard a singer sing live and it was ALWAYS better than the studio version. I miss her so.
Nice Vocal Reaction Mr. Tamplin, Whitney had such a Powerful voice, it moves you so very much and it hits you so emotionally.
It hits you like a brick wall at 80 miles per hour. You can't deny the power of her voice. Emotional and artistic, world-class.
This is ones in a life time moment 🙏🙏🙏
I cried with you Ken. Listening to her sing was a spiritual experience really. Just seeing her become the song. She was one with the song and the music and still aware of her audience and the gift she gave to our service people
Great video. I was a big metal head in the 80s. Played in a band etc but always loved Whitney. A phenomenal talent.
I come to this video once every couple of months, i always get goosebumps listening to Ken talk about Whitney. This is the best performance of this song that i've ever heard. Perfection....dang I miss this woman.
I just love her control and how she controls the band behind her. She is the conductor of this song and this performance or any performances.
👍
I watch this video at least once a week. I love how in awe Ken is, and I couldn't agree more. What a gift Whitney was to the world.
Thank you Ken! Hearing Whitneys voice and or seeing her perform always puts a tear in my eye. Such an amazing gift she shared with us! God bless her!
My man couldnt even finish the video, he was deeply touched by this amazing performance. honestly we all were.
Her command of the band/orchestra was unparalleled! Truly one of the, if not the greatest vocalist that will stand the test of time. RIP Whitney Houston.
Simply the best.
She was in it to win it always. Her heart was always there within.her craft. For the love of music which had the ability to bring people together. Man this performance is stellar.
Sure is!
This was the first concert I seen of her and I was amazed and forever a huge fan, her love medley right before this was amazing and why she was breathy, check it out and you will be amazed again! She was not of this planet! Thanks for sharing your view, you clearly know what you are talking about, please do more of her songs. The love medley would be awesome! BTW this was not from a movie-lol
Thanks Ken!
Ken your passion for the voice is contagious and gets me emotional just hearing your passion
