Thanks for an honest review of the pros and cons of both systems, I have seen too many ‘Red is good, Yellow is bad’ vids that don’t really help when you’re trying to make up your mind which one to invest in!
Dominic Forge yeah it really is a UA-cam thing. Guys in the trades don’t give a fk, and have tools from every brand. I have mostly DeWalt 20v stuff and especially the impact has been fckng stellar-dcf886.. I also happen to share my stuff and use tools from all the companies and they’re all badass. I always say it but, if you can’t get professional results from whatever color tools check your skill level
Thanks Angel for comparing all 3 systems! They all look nice! At first I was aiming towards to Packout because of their quality and sizes. But when I saw the Tough System DS carrier it was a beast! I was like that’s it I’m getting that! Lol by the way nice power tool collection! Especially that monster stud and joist drill! Thanks bro.
Good video, glad you brought out the point about the wheel base. The larger wheel base on the dewalt wouldn’t work with my pullout ramp on my truck. Thanks.
Great video. It looks like each case on milwaukee needs its own lock. These are 2 great companies that do a great job of one upping one another and providing a different option.
I have the dewalt system here in Canada, i beat the hell out of that thing and use it all the time and got zero complaints about it Plus the cart is great for using as a dolly which i use for moving large items like hot water tanks furnaces and such
I especially like the Dewalt DS because you can put ANY toolbox, cooler, radio etc on the bottom. I think it would be great if they made a box for this with slide out drawers.
Absolutely right... Not doubt that the Milwaukee packout box by box is superior... But the DS carrier is what makes the dewalt system, not better necessary but preferable...
Good review. Answered some of my questions about these. I'm committed to milwaukee almost everthing I own is miwaukee. Dewalt pissed me off 6 years ago know they have gotten better but sticking with Milwaukee don't need a bunch of different batteries and chargers around.
Saw a video of a guy who built his own frame for his DeWalt DS kits to slide on/off the wall in his van. Might be expensive when all said and done but it was just too cool! Whenever he hsd to put something big in his van he could just pull out the DeWalt stuff and fold in the tabs out of the way. For HVAC guys who have to move condensers and such, it was a game changer IMHO. If Milwaukee could match that, I'd be totally sold!
Packout can be pulled up in through back doors of a full size Sprinter van from ground, wheels are big enough to roll up and in. No separating boxes to load back in van.
Great review, honest, fair and straight to the point. You seem like a very nice guy too. I just switched from the regular DeWalt to Milky Packout and I'm happy :-). Switching to red power tools too, as I have had a combi drill from DeWalt that always loses the bits while turning, the chuck seems to be weak, Liked and subbed. Peace.
I'm going to build a box+rack set-up on a swing away tire carrier bumper on my 4x4. I like the idea of being able to access different boxes without pulling the whole stack off. ...but the question is would you trust those arms holding a loaded box in a place while bumping down a trail? On the other hand, I like the extra different offerings in the Milwaukee Packout family, and I like you can mount a base plate for them vertically as well.
My brother bought the Milwaukee. We played with it and found the hinges are really weak. Also the latches in the front are all plastic. In time, both of these points will fail. The aluminum bars in the front are practically useless because there is no "lip" at the bottom to hold something like a level. In short, he took it back and got the toughsystem with the Ds carrier like me.
The fact the dewalt tough system can slide out and mount into a wall in a van is a huge advantage... Milwaukee made amazing product.... Enough for dewalt to upgrade the tough system.
First good review you covered everything. I hate Milwaukee tools and will never buy a battery tool from them again but that packout looks well designed and would consider purchasing it. Thumbs up
@@bradbop767 I had a bad experience with them many years ago. I bought a cordless drill and the problem ended up being the high/low speed selector was attached to the motor assembly with 2 very and mean very small roll pins. They would always work themselves loose and once they did there was nothing stopping the drill from switching between high/low or in my case it would always get stuck between high/low and render the drill useless. they warrantied it a few times and I finally got sick of taking it in so I started fixing it myself but it kept doing it. There was no good way to fix it long term since it was an obvious design flaw. Frustrated, I threw it away and never looked at milwaukee tools again especially any cordless tools. After watching the video I was liking the packout and went to the store but the starter kit shown is like $300 now not $199 So that was too steep for me especially since I will need many many more cases than the 3 the starter kit comes with and the Milwaukee system costs almost double for each future box. So I ended up buying toughsystem boxes, while not perfect its a good system and more reasonably priced. I watched several comparison videos and while both systems are built extremely tough. I will admit the packout beats the toughsystem when being dropped off a roof but in the real world my stuff will never be subjected to such extremes nor should anyones for obvious reasons. Never keep any heavy object like that if it fell off a roof or ledge with people below (which you should alway assume there are) could easily kill someone. As long as the boxes can withstand the daily riggers of loading and unloading and the occasional drop from 3-4 feet Im good. Its nice to know that it can handle much more but realistically if you need to worry about protecting your stuff from a multi story drop or getting run over you have no business operating power tools to begin with. Thats my .02 cents
@@lgbfjbsupporter5566 thats a perfectly valid reason lol. Im only 22 and have been investing in milwaukee for about 5 years now and have never had a problem, only ever invested in them after doing the research, and ive used many other drills like makita, dewalt and bosch and nothing feels like the milwaukee when it comes to smoothness and power. I dont know how many years back that your bad experience with milwaukee was but its funny how 2 people can have such a different experiences with the same tool line. Again not sure what tool you bought but ive always bough the best they had to offer, not sure if thats the difference here but i have a feeling it is. And are you from canada? Cause i think the guy who made this video is american because i paid 289 for my packout and that was on sale lol (im from toronto)
@@bradbop767 No im from usa and just priced the packout. it was 289 at the orange box. Not sure what model drill it was but it was a loooong time ago. However after opening it and seeing how badly it was designed turned me off. I will say it wasnt some cheap model at the time simply because thats not how I roll. I always buy quality stuff especially tools. Im sure milwaukee has improved over the years. However the packput was about double the cost for me and since I will probably be about 15 boxes when all said and done it wasnt justifiable to me. It looks like there might have been a bit of a pricing war between these systems awhile back and im sorry i missed that since the dewalt box was on special at HD for like $13 each yep that stinks i missed out on that. o'well
I think you failed to mention that the DeWalt on the right is completely waterproof, I use mine on canoe trips to keep food and supplies dry. And because they are water/airtight the valve on the top is a pressure relief valve just in case there is an air pressure differential (like working on a mountain and then driving down the valley), you open them to displace the air.
Have you check out the new Dewalt ToughSystem 2.0? I think they are pretty nice. It’s backward compatible with the 1.0 ToughSystem and it works with the DS carrier. Not the locking feature tho because it doesn’t have that metal on the back to lock on the DS carrier but you can still use it on the carrier.
Great review! But my favorite is $100.00 for Rigid on sale at Home Depot and hold more tools. Although DS carrier hand truck is so strong and versatile. ( Also costs much more) DS carrier can be stacked directly to each other. Bought one DS system and 3 Rigid.
Nice review , I currently have the Dewalt full DS set up with 3 main boxes and 2 tough system screw / organizer boxes on top so a fully loaded. I also have a few of the Dewalt open totes and like these for the tools I use regularly and need quick access to them. I like the DS carrier / dolly as it’s dual use. The Milwaukee setup does look very nice as well.
Hey Angel, Thanks for helping me decide on a toolbox. Went with the Milwaukee, and I'm really happy with it. Could you tell me where you ordered the small Milwaukee cases? I cannot seem to find them. Thanks again!
cantthinkofone77 Thanks for for watching, glad it helped. My packout came with 3 main boxes all the trays and small containers for the $199 from homedepot when it was on sale
cantthinkofone77 oh the I see. Those are Milwaukee bit sets sold separately they are also sold at homedepot and come in diffrent variations like drill bits, hex bits, mix of both etc
I have the DeWalt regular tough box system and it's excellent for the price point (CDN $109) but would gladly take the carrier. The Milwaukee pack out system looks great and well thought out but here in Canada, is almost double the price of what you can find the DeWalt boxes and systems for. Would be nice to see a little more competitive pricing..
John Ellis Dewalt tough sytem for $109 CDN is a good deal, can't go wrong for the price. It's still a good system. Ds carrier is nice but pricey, thanks for watching
I have the DeWalt Tough System (no carrier yet) and love it but admittedly the Milwaukee looks sweet. The price difference between the two in Canada however is significant making DeWalt more affordable (almost half the price). If Milwaukee was priced comparatively, I would have a more difficult time choosing…
I have the dewalt DS Carrier, good system... But the best for the price is the Ridge system sold at Home Depot. I like that one a lot. That was about 150.00.
I am the type that throws my tool boxes in my truck then piles 2x4s and plywood on top of them and the DeWalt takes a beating while the hinges of the Milwaukee cases tend to fail under stress.
Gotta say there's endless amount of options for the packout you should look into because they have a few radios and a few of the packouts have spots for chargers to mount 😉
buzzsaw301 Thanks, I would have to say Milwaukee, More sturdy, more space, nicer trays Although They're all nice boxes, Also the box on the left (normal tough system) is on sale at Homedepot for $98, If you need lots of boxes the normal tough system will give you more boxes for the $$$
my plan to overcome this issue is to build a cabinet with pull out shelves for the shop for each shelf will hold one DS box mostly DS130's in my case that way I can slide them out individually and access the contents without removing it. Full extension slides are cheap these days. Then if the need arises and I need to take the tools with me I can choose which tools I need that day and bring them along either on the cart or stacked together on my baker scaffold. The key is organizing the boxes for the task. Demo tools in one, plumbing tools in one , electrical in one, layout tools in one. you get the idea.
aaron fisher that’s exactly my plan. Festool do it with their systainers (for a price!). Then you will have modular site quality boxes that are easy to access in the workshop, van and job site.
Wow I had no idea that two years ago you could buy the packout for 199.00,but now its 100 dollars more? The Dewalt's price is about the same give or take 20 bucks or so...Just goes to show which company actually cares about there loyal customers who spend there hard working money on expensive tools, going up over 100 dollars in 2 years is absolutely rediculous,I will stick with Dewalt just for that reason!
I think that $199 was a Black Friday deal from a few years back. People reference it every Black Friday “will the pack out ever go on sale for $200 again???”
Please post a video of how they hold up when used,as that's what I would be most important to a tradesmen like me,as my tools must count & last like I hope the work im trusted to do
Jesse Barajas I can't say much on the milwaukee, due to only having them for a few months but they been great mostly use their m12 hacksaw, rocket light, m18 mid torque, and searchlight and haven't had any issues. None on the Dewalt have gave me any problems except for the dcf887 impact which trigger failed, I took it in and got it back same week fixed for free from dewalt it was the first ones the came out and never had an issue since, The new ones should be issue free. The other problem I had was I had 1 dewalt 2015 5.0 battery started acting up in 2017 took it in, guy at the desk took it placed it on a charger said nope! Turned around and handed me a brand new one in retail package for free, only asked for my name and some basic info took about 2 mins,. I was impressed. He didn't ask me for receipts, or where did I buy it. Some tool brands say lifetime warranty but ask you a bunch of questions and don't warranty their items if purchased in places like amazon. I like DeWalt's 3 year warranty. Other than that I've been trouble free
I switched to Milwaukee after having 3 bad experiences with DeWalt.. I had 2 brand new DW62 circular saws which lasted a week.. I now refer to their kit as DeWalt Disney 😋.. Milwaukee ain't perfect.. But 2.5 years on and no issues
Alright, I call shenanigans. I can't find the Milwaukee Packout system for $199 anywhere. Where did you guys find it for that price? Please help. None are in stock at the two local Home Depots and Lowe's offerings suck in this category.
Angel Jones ah ok that makes sense. I called around and most stores are out of stock. Retail wise. But online, ToolBarn.com has them. Just got an email back from customer service confirming they are in stock. Wish I would have jumped on these back in November. Great review, btw. Helped me make a decision for sure.
@@Angel-xh5pq Thank you good sir, I just ordered one. I have a XL box with wheels, I use to keep my 60v flex-volt compressor in, fits great. but wont fit the saw anymore, hoping this will be a good addition and keep it all safe. thanks for the heads up mate!
well ofc the DS carrier set up is more,,,, want to see the others stacked with 150kg ~300lbs on the wheels and rollad away... most get it becouse that you can move the boxes remove them and then move other stuff with the cart if wanted
The milwaukee is nice but they should have made it black you don't want the world knowing you have tool box filled with expensive tools the red sticks oit loke sore thumb at least with black you notice it in the dark
Like the yellow on the other won't tell you it's DeWalt, especially not the huge yellow DeWalt logo displayed prominently on several surfaces...It wouldn't matter anyway, thieves know what they're looking at and when they see a stack of toolboxes like these, they know what's in them.
William Strahan Dewalt currently has a 2 drawer unit for the tough system but it has some flaws. However Dewalt has anounced a 3 drawer box that's more sturdy than it's previous drawer unit, and seemed to have fixed the flaws from the older 2 drawer unit. Should be released in the near furure, thanks for watching
Dustin Talbott I rarely use the Milwaukee tools in the packout, I got a really good deal on them. I picked them up to try them but I perfer my dewalts tools, I probably be selling them soon, I mostly use those tools around the house here and there. Most of the tools I mostly use were in my trucks tool box and few in the ds carrier
Matt D sorry if I did say that, you CAN stack and clip the Power station to the radio, you just can't stack anything to the power station due to the handles
I have the DeWalt ds450 box and wheels It custom set up for me so I'm sticking with it almost bought the Milwaukee but I would need to redesign my tool carry set up I'm happy right now with the DeWalt Just so you know the Milwaukee is a stronger case bigger wheels but like I said DeWalt is just set up the way I like
Nice long and in depth review. I own the Packout system and the Dewalt Tough system with radio and cart. The Dewalt system I seem to use the most. Love the quality of the Milwaukee pack out! Since I love both Milwaukee ans Dewalt, that's why I own both systems! 😄 Thanks for the fun review. I subscribed. 👍
great comparison video, I am getting greedy but if you also had the DeWalt cantilever box for use with smaller jobs / smaller set ups would have been cool. I wasn't even considering the Milwaukee but it has a very intuitive design - What i think is funny about the video is all your tools look tool clean! -
I Like the far right Dewalt one - ( because u can access all without removing all ) But , am a Little sceptacle obout the swinging slide mechanisms Looks like they would break off easily and then your screwed. I guess ill have to go see them and see how durable those slides are in real life. I Wish Milwaukees were were slide in Boxes , it Looks nicer and a stronger build.
i have 40 of them in my van and go off road regularly , had em for a couple of years now mounted on 25 mm steel box section poles,, believe me not a problem , my 20 toughsystem boxes havnt moved a bit in all this time ,, the packout is pretty but not practical ,, i aint got time to take off 8 boxes to get to the bottom one , go with dewalt everytime
i have mine on my wall in my workshop. I can sit my 170lb butt on top of the box with only only the arms holding me up. Nothing felt like it was going to break.
JosEmanuel Gomez the ds carrier has a locking bar that will lock all boxes on the carrier with 1 pad lock, you still would want to lock each box lid individually
We use DeWalt and Milwaukee systems at work (Multiple of the 3 in this video), all have held up pretty well so far, but long term I don't see the DeWalt holding up as well as the Milwaukee (DeWalt already getting loose in areas). The video doesn't show it all, use all 3 hands on, twist, turn and bend, the Milwaukee is hands down the sturdiest build, The DeWalt is better for the home and Prosumers, Milwaukee is the one for use in a tough environment.
I dislike the dewalt handles, I loaded my bottom box with tools and went to pick it un and the handle broke and cracked the box. My favorite box is my ridgid box.
I got my 4 year old grandson the dewalt ds. All his toys like hot wheels and legos pack nicely into it and his room stays clean. He likes it.
Great idea cajun guidry

Looks like the packout cuts into the inside with wheel wells so it's not nice and square inside. Makes it harder to stack things neatly.
If the Dewalt DS allowed the boxes to slide out far enough to access without removing them, it would be perfect for shop use and storage as well.
my plan to overcome this issue is to build a cabinet with pull out shelves for the shop for each shelf will hold one DS box mostly DS130's in my case that way I can slide them out individually and access the contents without removing it.
Great honest review thanks a bunch well done
i got the craftsman versastack not bad at all imo
The Milwaukee looks sick! Very well thought out design, looks like they took their time before releasing to market unlike dewalt.
From where I can get those Milwaukee tool box they are awesome.
What a great review! Good job bro.
Your a Milwaukee fan boy and full of shit
In europe you get a toughsystem case with the tools
Alright, I call shenanigans. I can't find the Milwaukee Packout system for $199 anywhere. Where did you guys find it for that price? Please help. None are in stock at the two local Home Depots and Lowe's offerings suck in this category.
Steve Figueroa I bought mine during holiday season at Homedepot, sometime in Nov 2017
Steve Figueroa, Glad to help, and thanks for watching
Hey Angel, how well does the dewalt tough system handle going up and down stairs with those smaller wheels?
I use mine all the time on stairs. I usually carry it up the stairs cuz one step at a time with the wheels is slow and noisy.
There is only one Phillips screw holding the hinges on the DeWalt
In August of this year Milwaukee is coming out with a bad ass packout radio! And also a super charger!
How can i find "dewalt screwdriver hold system"? =)) like in the DS400? =)
Do you think that the middle sized dewalt case you have there would fit a 60v max worm-drive style flex-volt in it??
Yes it will
@@Angel-xh5pq
Thank you good sir, I just ordered one.
I have a XL box with wheels, I use to keep my 60v flex-volt compressor in, fits great.
but wont fit the saw anymore, hoping this will be a good addition and keep it all safe.
thanks for the heads up mate!
@@donerightcoatings9497 you can fit the compressor in there? Gonna have to try that later... 🤔 😂
well ofc the DS carrier set up is more,,,, want to see the others stacked with 150kg ~300lbs on the wheels and rollad away... most get it becouse that you can move the boxes remove them and then move other stuff with the cart if wanted
The milwaukee is nice but they should have made it black you don't want the world knowing you have tool box filled with expensive tools the red sticks oit loke sore thumb at least with black you notice it in the dark
I guess u meant to say - you don't notice it in the dark. Good points !
Like the yellow on the other won't tell you it's DeWalt, especially not the huge yellow DeWalt logo displayed prominently on several surfaces...It wouldn't matter anyway, thieves know what they're looking at and when they see a stack of toolboxes like these, they know what's in them.
adamaj tru dat remove from truck to be safe
lou cifer I guess Milwaukee was listening they made it in bkack but for Europe, why do these tool companies always give Europe the better stuff
The European version is blacked out with red handles
Holy moly how much money do you have lol? Most of those tools look new and all of they right there is lots of dough
They both need to come out with a drawer type unit 👍
William Strahan Dewalt currently has a 2 drawer unit for the tough system but it has some flaws. However Dewalt has anounced a 3 drawer box that's more sturdy than it's previous drawer unit, and seemed to have fixed the flaws from the older 2 drawer unit. Should be released in the near furure, thanks for watching
Totally agree been saying that for awhile
Give me dawer system that works lol
Do you use any of your tools are just look at them?
Dustin Talbott I rarely use the Milwaukee tools in the packout, I got a really good deal on them. I picked them up to try them but I perfer my dewalts tools, I probably be selling them soon, I mostly use those tools around the house here and there. Most of the tools I mostly use were in my trucks tool box and few in the ds carrier
Very informative. Great video overall
Justin Pitcher Thank you
You mentioned that the power station doesn't stack on top of the radio. Does anybody know of a visual aid that explains why?
Matt D sorry if I did say that, you CAN stack and clip the Power station to the radio, you just can't stack anything to the power station due to the handles
Angel Jones Ah! Thanks.
I have the DeWalt ds450 box and wheels
It custom set up for me so I'm sticking with it almost bought the Milwaukee but I would need to redesign my tool carry set up I'm happy right now with the DeWalt
Just so you know the Milwaukee is a stronger case bigger wheels but like I said
DeWalt is just set up the way I like
LOW VOLTAGE DUDE Yeah I saw your Packout setup @LOW VOLTAGE DUDE, you don’t gotta lie haha
Every trolley are telescopic?
I love my Milwaukee box😁
Nice long and in depth review. I own the Packout system and the Dewalt Tough system with radio and cart. The Dewalt system I seem to use the most. Love the quality of the Milwaukee pack out! Since I love both Milwaukee ans Dewalt, that's why I own both systems! 😄
Thanks for the fun review. I subscribed. 👍
The thin blue line , Thank you, I appreciate your support. 👌👌
No sense in being a fanboy of just one brand, when they all ahve something great going on. Same way brah
I have the DeWalt ds450
I could switch but I have it set up the way I like it
The new Packout stuff is crazy cool
Wish DeWalt would step it up
i dont know what work you do for a living, but there isnt a spec of dirt on any of those tools
Great reviews but .... RIGID also has a very good storage system . Too bad it was not reviewed :(
Failed to mention that the dewalt tough system can be locked out(removed from dolly with a single lock in the bcak)
He did at the end, 17:32 I assume this is what you are talking about?
lots of information and great comparisons...
your camera work needs improving. I got motion sickness watching this. lol
Mushroomlw sorry , I got a bathroom urge during the video, thats why its shaky
Mushroomlw
Imagine if the earth was spinning over 1000mph
great comparison video, I am getting greedy but if you also had the DeWalt cantilever box for use with smaller jobs / smaller set ups would have been cool. I wasn't even considering the Milwaukee but it has a very intuitive design - What i think is funny about the video is all your tools look tool clean! -
Thanks, most tools were new at time of video, I had just got done tool shopping
I vomited from the camera technique, excellent stuff
In Russia, Milwaukee costs $ 356 I envy you with your prices
Check Out qbrick.
What about the Ridgid?
Do you even use these tools?
after 2 years.. i have both systems as home owner... am i crazy
Tek katlı 50 70 tekerlekli valiz varmı acaba
Great review. Thanks
You should have put a link for all 3 boxes!!!
were can i bay trolli cheep for dewalt toughsystem?
Buy :)
Where did you get the full DS carrier for that price?
you guys got to check out the Rigid, beats all of these hands down
david gaeta All are great, It's all personal preference
I have dewalt and Rigid, Home Depot sales for Rigid is100 bucks and holds more tools! Dewalt is nice for hand truck!
Are these still on sale?
How Manny boxes come with the Milwaukee
mamoudou ndiaye Just these 3 gor $199, you can add and buy more on top of these 3
I Like the far right Dewalt one - ( because u can access all without removing all ) But , am a Little sceptacle obout the swinging slide mechanisms Looks like they would break off easily and then your screwed. I guess ill have to go see them and see how durable those slides are in real life. I Wish Milwaukees were were slide in Boxes , it Looks nicer and a stronger build.
The wings on that dewalt are very strong, I have one and abuse it badly, it's very robust.
i have 40 of them in my van and go off road regularly , had em for a couple of years now mounted on 25 mm steel box section poles,, believe me not a problem , my 20 toughsystem boxes havnt moved a bit in all this time ,, the packout is pretty but not practical ,, i aint got time to take off 8 boxes to get to the bottom one , go with dewalt everytime
The Milwaukee's way stronger and is a better thoughtout system: ua-cam.com/video/7adsjNeypak/v-deo.html
i have mine on my wall in my workshop. I can sit my 170lb butt on top of the box with only only the arms holding me up. Nothing felt like it was going to break.
OcRefrigeration,Hvac & Electrical.
Dewalt is pure shit
Is there a system were you can lock up all the boxes at the same time for when you are working in a different room and have shady co workers?
JosEmanuel Gomez the ds carrier has a locking bar that will lock all boxes on the carrier with 1 pad lock, you still would want to lock each box lid individually
That's got to suck man trying to work and watch your back so your stuff doesn't turn up missing at the same one.
Last job I lost a orbital and detail sander...both tool shop brand, but still...sucks!
Mr. Big Brownbass I'm guessing it's not his company workers but other contractors on the same job site
on the left side we have a cat
Your tools look so clean lol.
Nice video man thanks!!
The packout is nice and well built but In my opinion not worth double the current sale price of the basic DeWalt tough system
Carlos Salazar isn't husky the cheapest?
Carlos Salazar Milwauke tools cost more and they say little stronger.
Why him tools look so Pretty..Clean him rich$ that radio is 399$ in store..
I dislike the dewalt handles, I loaded my bottom box with tools and went to pick it un and the handle broke and cracked the box. My favorite box is my ridgid box.
