@@monitor4984 The problem is that the Sabbot is a serious problem. The Camarilla would likely call a blood hunt for the Sabbot vampire in the Bronx and if you paid attention Reyes got his golden ticket back into the Camarilla just by mentioning he knows about a Sabbot experiment in the Bronx. Reyes is a vampire who was sired without permission he’s lucky he wasn’t killed as an example by the Camarilla. Basically Isaac just confirmed there is a War pack acting against Mr Rafferty in the Bronx.
Serif drifting towards the Sabbat, and Rey positively running towards the Camarilla... we're going to see some conflict in the coterie soon, I predict.
"Don't tell anyone but I think werewolves are real, too." Oh, dear sweet Fuego, the WoD is far bigger than you may ever get the chance to realize in your unlife. Just don't ever pay a visit to Central Park.
There's a side quest in Bloodlines that involves zombies, makes me want to run a campaign where my players are Vampires trying to prevent a zombie outbreak lol. WoD is such a cool setting.
to anyone who may not have spotted it, His unusual "claws" was a usage of the tzimisce's iconic discipline, vissitude. Basically it alliows them to shape flesh like clay. This indicates that he doesn't know about this, which is kinda important since this power is the main reason the clan is so hated by so many. Tzimisce are known to do demented stuff with this power like shaping people into living furniture, or shaping their own body to be inhumanly beautiful, or to look like an inhuman monster. Some can even create flesh monsters to do their bidding Frankenstein style. Given how explicitly monstrous this power is, it's going to be really interesting now that he's accidentally discovered it.
Also, this open open on whats on his home third floor, we were lead to presume that it was where he kept all his flesh manipulating bullshit, but since now we know thats not it because he just learned how to use it, that what it could be?
I find that strange. Have they changed vissicitude? I've always been under the impression that you have to mold the body like clay. Which certainly doesn't seem to be the case here.
yea, in v5 companion vissicitude say that if u use feral weapon they will get this bone spur looks, so we know that he have that power(which is rn amalgant protean with dominate), but still he can shape his body
@@philipearakaki It's the curse of the timizie that they must sleep surrounded by their hoard of most prized possessions. So whatever it is, it's a collection of something Isaac values greatly.
@@ceeno9042 A couple of the clans do I believe. Banu Haqim (at least before Modern Nights) probably have the most lengthy training - somewhere around 15 years IIRC.
Everyone does. Random embrace is not the default. Showing your childe the ropes is a tradition same as the masquerade. But in this chronicle it's different
@@doncoyote68 I’d like to make the argument that more random embraces depend somewhat on the clan. Gangrel, Brujah and Malkavian often tend to abandon their childer after an impulse embrace.
I am so in love with the coterie's independent identities and how they conflict against the whole group dynamic. So different from LA's coterie, and I love it.
The Fuego scene was rather intense. They were all interesting, but I've never seen in session someone struggle against the beast for their humanity before. It was cool to see the RP as well as the mechanics at play.
I was holding my breath when Aabria had to roll for those stains. Literally made me tense and tear up all at once. Bravo, what a good character building scene.
I love this split story episode. It shows how much they aren't a Coterie. Yet. They all have their own agendas and problems and only really interact because they have to when making decisions as territory holders.
Great to see Rey story progress in direction of order. Joey plays with such character and strength. Love to see him as one of the Hounds or Scourge, side by side with Qadir.
Fantastic episode. I was looking forward to seeing Isaac without the coterie. He usually hangs back to observe and doesn't involve himself in their shenanigans, which is a very cool character trait but leaves him with less airtime. Now (with the help of some lucky rolls) we really got to see him exert his will, and it was so terrifying and effective. Some kindred are going to realize very soon that Isaac is way ahead of them, as he was always deliberately and openly advancing himself, and I can't wait to see the realization hit them.
I 100% agree and I happily await the 2nd season with the other group from the Ivory Tower. Then to see the two groups mix it up. Then we have the Wolves squad possibly being featured in season 2. Yeah cheers to brother Jason Carol and the rest of the Vamily.
I've been playing Vampire the Masquerade- Coteries of New York, and my ears pearked when I hear the name Qadir !!! I thought to myself "oh that's right, I know New Yorks Sherif". Love it.
i'm aware that i'm talking to the void right now since this came out 10 months ago but... i'm so glad that i stumbled across this campaign, i've always been interested in vtm but this has really settled my love for it. absolutely love the cast and love the storytelling, i'm on the edge of my seat almost constantly.
Definitely go back and give LA by Night a try if you haven't watched it, it's an amazing story! We're really lucky they get these amazing talented artists to tell these characters stories, and then record for us in perpetuity.
I watched 2 episodes of NY by Night and decided I had to go back and watch LA first and I am so glad I did cause otherwise I wouldn't have met the most interesting Couterie and Annabelle
Jason Carl is the best I have seen at VtM. His style has inspired my own storytelling as much as Matt Mercer has influence my DnD Dungeon Mastering. Incredible tallent to watch.
35:41 the panting the the little growls really remind me of Jasper. It seems like the beast hidden underneath Issac’s mask is finally starting to show itself. I LOVE IT
Wow, Fuego’s scene felt so emotional and real despite this being VTM and acting was top notch! 👏 👏 but also GREAT to see a follow up and earnest reaction from her after killing someone. ALSO, a great introspection of her human connections. Out of the all vamps I’ve seen in LABN and NYBN she’s the only vamp I’ve seen keeping up human connections some even knowing she’s kindred…sorta, which works because it happens in lore but SUPER rare just like in these seasons but it also makes her character unique in a way we haven’t seen so far and as someone whose grown in neighborhood where you’re close to everyone on the block AND their open minded community that’s scene a lot, her connections after being turned felt very practical
This episode was pure magic! The acting was top notch, the stories being told were gripping and raw, and as always Jason and the cast find "appropriate moments" to work in some humor; giving us some much needed reprieve from the heavy subject matter. Jason trolling Alex right out of the gate over his wardrobe choices for the episode had me laughing out loud. A huge thank you to everyone who works to bring us this amazing show and to the creators of a truly amazing game. ❤❤❤
So Sabbat is out in force and finally some decent progress when it comes to the tasks set for them. Isaac learning Vicissitude and depending on how he understood the statement of "you are back" openly says that he is Sabbat. Of course could just be that he meant and/or Isaac thought he meant just the Tsimitze Clan. Fuego casually commits a masquerade violation and it seems to be confirmed that her sire is the one gentrifying the area. Rey possibly becoming a cammy spy. Rough. Some potential spoilers in form of my thoughts on the Sabbat presence already seen. Francis is a walking bomb evidently following the path of the sun. If Serif takes on his advice to meet this friend things could go from bad to worse for her. It shouldn't be hard to convince her of some of the tenets of the Sabbat considering her relationship to her sire who is already part of the Anarchs. Bad or good news for Isaac. If the fiend starts to put in work to turn this coterie it wouldn't be a hard task at all. Two with sire issues and one with no self-control is not that far from a being a group of shovel heads. Though you could consider Rey to be one. So most likely Sabbat isn't so much as coming in as they're already here. Great episode. Good work cast and crew.
Yeah, it seems like out of the Coterie Fuego has the most human connections, some of them even knowing she’s kindred (which happens but is rare according to the lore) and that can be good or bad considering what her convictions are and if the SI and Camarilla find out but overall definitely makes the story more interesting! 😁👏
@@Peecamarke It's just bad. Might work out for Fuego in the emotional support department but is basically a written death warrant for the kid. Wonder how Fuego is going to process his death if he slips up considering that it would be her fault.
@@TheFictionic My guess is at some point Fuego will make him forget all about the vampire stuff she told him in order to keep him safe. Or she might lean on Issac and have him do it for her.
I thought the Cam guy saying "you are back" and Isaac going along with it was just that. I interpreted that as him just using his general knowledge of other Kindred's fear and dislike of the Sabbat to his advantage. It would definitely be an interesting twist though if Isaac's affiliation was indeed Sabbat and he was just pretending to be Anarch in order to better gauge the situation in the city.
Okay but aabrias full sadness when admitting that Fuego has to activate flush of life in order to feel warm to a friend. Just not the thing I was expecting to cry about at 4am
This episode is awesome. All 4 characters are at such odds to each other. You have the 'anti-coterie' It makes the story different and interesting compared to LA by Night.
I've been watching tabletop shows like this for years now, but both VTM series with Jason Carl and the wonderful teams of actors are just on a whole other level. The way they tackle morality, politics, and the power struggle makes you realize that we mortals aren't that much different from the kindred. Also, watching the show is like watching a theather play, and a fantastic one at that. Just can't get enough of it!
Damn, that was actually so good. No doubt, you guys have a lot of experience, but damn, so much emotion where masterfully expressed in this 2 and a half hours.
I'm usually not a fan of split story episodes like this - but this was just amazing. Blew all my expectations out of the water and was just so good from start to finish!
I think playing with the formula, switching things up also keeps viewers on their toes, makes them even more interested and is just generally a cool idea, at least in my biased opinion :P The episode was great, everyone killed it, but if I have to pick a single scene then I am gonna go with Isaac, that was delightfully menacing :> Keep up the awesome work!
Yep, pretty sure that there is even a thin-blood specific path of enlightenment in the v5 Sabbat to. So he probably got taught that path by the other thin-blood in Chicago.
As much as I love everything else about the storytelling, I will never get on board with the Beast having a literal voice and speaking words to you, much less it having the voice of your sire.
Really cool to see Julia(protagonist from Shadows of New York) appear during the Rey section, i do wonder when this episode takes place though, if she's still investigating Callihan's death of if she already found out the truth and used it to blackmail her way to a position of power in the tower, her demeanor tells me the former
@@Partor6 Well, I am not as familiar with Tzimisce as the others lol I'm fairly new to the game, but I had thought Tzimisce tended to look more monstrous, even though they could look more human if they wanted to. Though, again, I have had very limited exposure to them. I plan on buying the game books when I can to learn more, but yeah, I'm stupid, my only real exposure to Tzimisce was from Bloodlines lol
@@Partor6 Having said all that, I really love Alex's almost happy, and upbeat and polite characterization of a Tzimisce. He's one of my favorites in this series, as Jasper was in LABN.
@@Kawamura2 the old ones are monstrous, but it happens over time, Isaac is a newborn tzimisce who just now started to discover his vicissitude, but he has the overall attitude of a tzimisce ( overly polite, very attached to his base of operation and keeps his sanctuary for himself) although what he keeps in his room on the 3rd floor might prove he is monstrous already. lol
The schyzo moment when Isaac discovers his new powers?! TOP CLASS ACTING!! And the rest of the coterie too of course but that moment was... *Chef kisses.
This is such an underrated series and I'm so glad I found it. Everyone does such a good job bringing it to life and I love the depth the players have added to their characters. So good.
Idk why but when Serif got 6 successes, my mind was like, "so your sun graffiti literally bursts into existence sith actual sunlight and you explode and die." I do not wanna see that but I also kinda laughed at the idea, like what if just because she chose to paint the sun, some wild shit happened 😂 Thanks for sharing. Great episode. Really got to get into each character a little bit. Loved it. P.S. I'm just thinking... I think the best way for Serif to get her mom out is feed her her own blood, as incredulous as it is, and then kind of usurp the power and take her and dip and then let her just unghoul lol... Idk, anyone else more well-versed that might have an idea?
Once the Blood Bond is locked in (3 drinks or more), it can't be usurped by another. Which means Serif would, at best, create a 2nd level Bond with her while her mom's current Domitor could have a rating up to 6. That would mean at *least* 4 months (probably longer) of hiding her mom away and dealing with her Stockholm syndrome/withdrawal as long as the Domitor is still... undead. Much simpler just to kill him and help her mom get through the vitae withdrawal (it's called a Fatal Addiction for a reason).
Isaac tonight had such an interesting episode! This is the first time that anyone on the cast genuinely scared me a little while listening and it just goes to show how talented Alex is. I forgot the person he was for just a minute and fell completely into the story
I don't always make it right when the episodes go up, but each week y'all brighten my darkness for a bit with great characterization from the players and always amazing storytelling from Jason Carl, thank you
@@imthestein I mean, part of me likes the idea of Dakota and Julia figuring their shit out and traveling to LA, even if Julia is absolutely garbage tier girlfriend material.
Can't wait to see more of Francis in season 3. Everyone is expecting sabbat suspicions from tzimisce and lasombra forgetting that thin bloods dominate the sabbat in places like Detroit and Brazil 👀
LA by Night had everybody working very hard to be on the same page. These differences are so vast and in direct conflict that I worry it will lead to nothing BUT destruction.
Despite the contention between Anarch, Camarilla, and Lin-Kuei in the Free States, NYC is a bit more of a warzone than LA thanks to the fact that it was a long-held Sabbat bastion until ~2000.
I probably shouldn't plug my favourite real play channel, but you might wanna check out Near Dark's Chicago by Night campaign. Their play style tends to lean towards comedy at times, but they've got great chemistry at the table and the characters are 🤌
1:20:50: Great, now I'll have the chimney sweeper song from Mary Poppins randomly pop into my head every time anyone mentions the Tzimisce, thanks Mr. Jason Carl, I hate it ;-)
Francis just decides he isnt gonna tell her the reason the anarchs chased him away is cuz he and his other buddies were drugging the mortals with pills made of their blood? lol
The fact that I overslept the twitch premiere for this episode is borderline depressing. This is so extremely good and suspenceful. I love it, I love it so much
"I'm livin' life in the fast lane Movin' at the speed of life and I can't slow down Only got a gallon in the gas tank But I'm almost at the finish line, so I can't stop now I don't really know where I'm headed, just enjoyin' the ride Just gon' roll 'til I drop and ride 'til I die I'm livin' life in the fast lane (Pedal to the metal) Livin' life in the fast lane (Pedal to the metal)"
Mmmm. Qadir getting a name drop made this episode worth it. Would love to see a competent Sheriff hit the scene. Not a bloodthirsty Lasombra or a jumped-up Gangrel.....just Three Strikes, and you're Out. Edit: Oh. I spoke too soon.....even she's here.
I rather believe that Lizzy knows the truth and Isaac is an Anarch. I mean it's just profitable for him, that the Cammy thought the Sabbath stole the bones. Plus, maybe he only confirmed that he is Tsimisce...
Better that the Tower be looking for a Sabbat war party in the Bronx than an Anarch coterie. Isaac's thinking was probably similar to my own: _Let them chase shadows._
Judging by the events in the Serif storyline, I'm wondering if Francis hasn't come across the Sabbat on his way to New York. They do have the mentality of only being able to achieve their true potential by forsaking their humanity - which could explain the reason why the 'wight' is out and about, the earlier mention of a 'Sabbat experiment gone wrong'.
What a fun idea! No, we don't have anything like that as far as a I know. (Crit Role Closet is created by a Critter in the fan community, and I don't think anyone in the Vamily has tried this yet.)

Reyes is a vampire who was sired without permission he’s lucky he wasn’t killed as an example by the Camarilla. to anyone who may not have spotted it, His unusual "claws" was a usage of the tzimisce's iconic discipline, vissitude.

I was holding my breath when Aabria had to roll for those stains. Literally made me tense and tear up all at once. Bravo, what a good character building scene.

We are glad to have you
I got say Jason Carl is such great Storyteller that watching his lets plays has substantially improved my GMing. So thanks for making them.
Jason Carl is the best I have seen at VtM. His style has inspired my own storytelling as much as Matt Mercer has influence my DnD Dungeon Mastering. Incredible tallent to watch.
Seven episodes in, and I'm still surprised when Jason says *NY* by night. (LA is branded in my brain.)
Right???
I really did feel bad and angsty during Fuego's scene. WHAT AN ACTING, Dang! She improved a lot during these sessions.
Rey: The ACTUAL Wolf of Wall Street.
This was the best episode by far. Fuego's story had me gripped.
Reyes is going to get himself killed. Also pretty sure the Sabbot killed Callahan. The wight is probably a failed Sabbot initiation.

This episode is awesome. All 4 characters are at such odds to each other. You have the 'anti-coterie' It makes the story different and interesting compared to LA by Night.
Jason Carl has been one of the great teachers of my life. His storytelling is just incredible.
Love the scene with Julia. Shadows of new york was by far my favourite of the two.
"hooh that is god-awful"
"...yeah, there's tetanus and weed in there"

There's been a LOT of Coteries/Shadows of New York characters mentioned.
I’m so invested in the cast and story. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Allegedly, in Season 2 we see a Camarilla Coterie. Would be fun if this was a sneak preview and Julia and Lavache were part of this Coterie!
Julia is the protagonist of Shadows of New York so she might just remain an npc.
Even better if Rey us the centre of that Coterie. Season 1 ending on him joining the Camarilla proper, and naturally needing to get to work.
I have waited long for the day we would finally get a Camarilla Coterie as the pov of the story!!!
I don't care much for Lavache but I'll be damned if I don't wanna se Julia
Francis is on a Path of Enlightenment.
Yep, pretty sure that there is even a thin-blood specific path of enlightenment in the v5 Sabbat to. So he probably got taught that path by the other thin-blood in Chicago.
As much as I love everything else about the storytelling, I will never get on board with the Beast having a literal voice and speaking words to you, much less it having the voice of your sire.
i don't mind the voice, but the voice of your sire seems too on the nose too easy too contrived
Really cool to see Julia(protagonist from Shadows of New York) appear during the Rey section, i do wonder when this episode takes place though, if she's still investigating Callihan's death of if she already found out the truth and used it to blackmail her way to a position of power in the tower, her demeanor tells me the former
So Fuego is magic. I never expected to like a Ventrue quite this much.
I like how she's playing such an atypical Ventrue. Then again, I think they're all playing against type in NYBN, which is always interesting to me.
@@Kawamura2 Well except for Isaac, he is playing text-book tzimisce :D
@@Partor6 Well, I am not as familiar with Tzimisce as the others lol I'm fairly new to the game, but I had thought Tzimisce tended to look more monstrous, even though they could look more human if they wanted to. @@Partor6 Having said all that, I really love Alex's almost happy, and upbeat and polite characterization of a Tzimisce. He's one of my favorites in this series, as Jasper was in LABN.
@@Kawamura2 the old ones are monstrous, but it happens over time, Isaac is a newborn tzimisce who just now started to discover his vicissitude, but he has the overall attitude of a tzimisce ( overly polite, very attached to his base of operation and keeps his sanctuary for himself) although what he keeps in his room on the 3rd floor might prove he is monstrous already. lol

This is such an underrated series and I'm so glad I found it. Everyone does such a good job bringing it to life and I love the depth the players have added to their characters. So good.
Idk why but when Serif got 6 successes, my mind was like, "so your sun graffiti literally bursts into existence sith actual sunlight and you explode and die." I do not wanna see that but I also kinda laughed at the idea, like what if just because she chose to paint the sun, some wild shit happened 😂
Thanks for sharing.
DUDE I THOUGHT THE SAME
but i imagine that was determined by the willpower roll before that one
Once the Blood Bond is locked in (3 drinks or more), it can't be usurped by another. Which means Serif would, at best, create a 2nd level Bond with her while her mom's current Domitor could have a rating up to 6. That would mean at *least* 4 months (probably longer) of hiding her mom away and dealing with her Stockholm syndrome/withdrawal as long as the Domitor is still... undead. Much simpler just to kill him and help her mom get through the vitae withdrawal (it's called a Fatal Addiction for a reason).
But if her mom is old or hell even ancient. The second her mom stops the blood she will die

So, nobody gonna mention how Isaac just goes mask of about the sabbath thing?
I rather believe that Lizzy knows the truth and Isaac is an Anarch. I mean it's just profitable for him, that the Cammy thought the Sabbath stole the bones.
Plus, maybe he only confirmed that he is Tsimisce...
I don't think he was going mask off. I think he was using the other kindred's fear to his advantage there.
My man Isaac, a pleasure to see him play !!!
Also totally sounds like Fuego has a bloodbond to her sire
Isaac pointed out that they are all bloodbound to their sires, to a degree, when explaining complications of Serif feeding off of Rey.
Do they have their own version of Crit Role Closet, because I love Rey's jacket and would love to know where to get it?
What a fun idea! No, we don't have anything like that as far as a I know. (Crit Role Closet is created by a Critter in the fan community, and I don't think anyone in the Vamily has tried this yet.)
