It’s definitely about getting your mind right. I lost 29 lbs about 18 months ago and there was NO doubt in my head that I was not going to succeed. I felt so good! I went right down to 9 stone 10lbs. Over the months I’ve gained 12 lbs and can’t stand how I feel now. I put 7lbs of that 12 just over Christmas and regret it as I didn’t hold back on the chocolate! You have motivated me, thank you and am today starting on homemade soups for lunch and going back to my previous regime - max 25g sugar per day!

The WHO you live with is huge.
My husband and I separated for three months and I lost 45 pounds because I ate the way I wanted which is virtually barely enough and healthy. He is a horrible influence. He promotes ice cream, candy, starches, carbs, sugars, etc. and he eats late at night.
I’ve tried to maintain my weight loss after we got back together and it’s impossible. He’s a huge narcissist and it’s incredibly hard to even realize the influence.
Why I stay: we’re all flawed including me and I’d rather be with him and keep working on us as we were married 18 years before our first rough hardships that made us split. I love him for better or for worse.
    I love being a size 12!
Pray I can get back there.

I went on 16:8 IF in mid November and ended up losing 6 pounds in the subsequent 2 months. That was by intention. I lost 10% of my body weight last year and will lose an equal amount this year. IF allows me to stick to any diet plan. I lose weight for 1 week, maintain for multiple weeks. I only need to lose a couple pounds a month, so that I can eat like this forever. Also the maintenance weeks allow me to ensure I get proper nutrition. I could go on any type of diet and lose weight as you say. This way of doing that weight loss is what teaches me how to maintain that loss

@@leslieladyhawke At start of keto this was one of biggest mistakes not being really careful about carbs. I loved to drink milk, have decreased on keto but ignoring the fact that just half litre of milk have that 20g of carbs :-) ) As said, at least 70% of calories must come from fats to be in ketosis along with up to 20 or really max 25g of carbs; some might handle slightly more, I know from experience I do not). I strongly reccomend you check various authors about how to do proper keto, like on this channel, than dr. Berg, dr. Ken Berry, dr. Westman, ... etc)

Would you address age? My diet is pretty clean, I walk 45 to 1 hr near daily, sleep well, move pretty much with gardening &housework & errands. Now I’m 75and I have a sneaky idea it’s the volume I eat which is the problem. I can still eat anything, no digestive problems, but I think age is the factor here. Welcome comments please. Are older people suppose to eat less?

Consider having a colonoscopy. After not eating anything solid for a day and a half I lost 5 pounds and managed to keep it off for a long time.
I also started taking just the serving size of cookies out of the bag (Pep Farm Nantucket is just ONE!) and putting them on a plate and putting the bag back into the cupboard.
And whenever I feel hungry I make sure to take a big gulp of water, then see if I'm still as hungry as I thought.

I weighed 233 winter before last. I now weigh 174. I feel sooo much better about myself. I used to be the definition of fat now I'm pretty fit. I still have a belly I'm going to shoot for 165. That's so what would be normal for my height I'm 5'8. To me as long as constantly trying and paying attention to what and how much I eat. Counting calories for quite a while I've been shooting for 1500 a day. Naturally it fluctuates between that and 2000 cals. It's still working its currently 4:17 I'm done eating for the day I'm at 1715 calories. Yesterday I was at exact 1500 and went for a run. Today I did 60 push-ups and 25 bicep curls. Set of 10 heavy set of 10 light then 5 heavy again each arm with dumbell

I eat keto as a way of life. Not only weight loss but have few to zero asthma attacks. Went from 12-13 inhalers a year to 3-4, and that's cause I am not perfect and when I go back to carbing like people normally do, I start having asthma attacks.
Also, chronic heart burn, goes away. Joints stop hurting also sttiff feet. My mind is clear and works better and I have more and sustained energy - no afternoon coffee necessary. Chronic systemic inflammation goes. My face actually looks more youthful. Lots more positive things but it's midnight and I'm tired, so just stopping here. And those and other benefits are not just my story my. I follow a lot of keto groups. All people who eat this way expensive these and other benefits.

@@sherrieleinweber6238 it was a 20 years struggle for me, but if youre still struggling only things I can say are, 0 junk food (learn to cook o find someone to cook for yo, so you never crave fastfood), eat thee normal, but use a small dish, wait 15 min to ask for seconds and you can cheat 1 time a weak (only 1 meal)) those are the things that I learned during this time, but always seek for a profesional to help you and if doesnt work for you seek de proffesional nextdor. ps:failing is ok, but don't use as a oportunity to self destruc you, :)

My wife is a couch and computer potato. I ask her to walk with me or what ever to be active, she always finds a reason not to. I am concerned that she will slowly die a sedimentary death

get a book? there are plenty of bad books out there and many more "cherry pick" data to prove an agenda. I trust you guys, can you recommend a couple of books?

My weight can fluctuate 6 pounds literally overnight. But to lose body fat, it's no so much what you eat as it is when you eat. In American culture, food is within reach 24/7. Americans typically eat 6 times a day. Food industry has taught us to eat constantly. But our bodies cannot sustain constant fueling. Counting calaries doesn't work. Cut carbs, sugar, processed foods, bread. Eat more fats to satiate you. Don't snack between 3 -2 meals a day. Fast once in a while. Keto style is the answer.
