My 10 yr old girl has been taking Karate for a couple of years now. I was going to get her a Wavemaster but I saw this and now I'm leaning towards getting one. What are your thoughts?
Well the Wavemaster is more sturdy. Heavy strikes won’t knock it down. The VS1 bag doesn’t have as sturdy of a base, but for someone that age/size I can’t imagine falling over too much being an issue. It’s not really an issue for me. This bag is better suited for quick snappy strikes and it’s easier on the joints bc it doesn’t offer as much resistance. Not to mention the base comes pre-filled and it’s a more versatile. I’d prbly go with the VS1, but it depends what you’re looking for. Also, they sell a youth version of the bag in this video that might be worth checking out. Hope that help.
I don’t compete currently, I used to for a little while. I actually never took Karate, but I see why you could say that. Grappling was always my thing bc I hated getting hit lol. @@minifig_studios Most of the weight is in base. My bag is about 10lb with 100lb base. I don’t think your height would be an issue with the adult size VS1
After 2 years of using it. Is it still holding up ? Someone is selling me a used in good condition one for $100 and wanted to know if it’s still good after 2 years of you using it
Yes, it was still good after two years. It’s been over seven years now and the bottom is starting to leak a little bit of sand. Prbly bc I started using it in the garage on a concrete floor.
Maybe if the edge of the stick grazed the bag hard enough there could be a potential for tearing, but I think you could hit it with the sticks for the most part. The bag in this video comes with a base already filled with sand. They also make a cheaper version where you have to fill the base up yourself. Hope this helps!
Still holding up well. I regret putting a strip of black duct tape down the vertical seam thinking it would do anything. All it did was get kinda sticky. The seam would’ve been fine w/o.
@@johnsgym3132 Alight cool.. I might get one.. and to fix the sticky prob buy Goo Gone.. Sure you can throw it, but you are right it might not bounce back in time. Unless the 1-2 is rly quick. There are better bags out there for resistance if that’s what looking for.
It’s too light 😔 I need something heavier especially for kicks but also I need to be able to take it outside because I live on the third floor of an apartment complex 🤦🏾♀️
Melanie Moody Yeah this bag tends to fall over from heavy strikes. I would recommend something more stable like a BOB, Wavemaster, or good old fashioned heavy bag, but those may be too difficult to move up and down flights of stairs. Hmm🤔 I’m not sure. You may have to settle for training inside if you get a heavier bag. I’m sure your neighbors below won’t mind 🤷🏻♂️
John’s Gym Idk because I live in a 4 bedroom apartment. I have 3 room mates and I don’t talk to and I highly doubt they’ll agree with me doing it. They’ll probably complain to the leasing office. I guess I’ll just have to wait until I can get my own place lol
Melanie Moody I used to live in a small apartment on the ground floor. I bought the VS1 bc I didn’t want to mess up the ceiling by hanging anything. I lived with one other person, but they didn’t mind me hitting the bag and the neighbors were already loud so I didn’t rly care what they thought lol. I hope you can find a way to keep training during these strange virus times. Home gyms are the future!
John’s Gym Yeah we aren’t allowed to hang anything in here but pictures and you can only use small nails to hang things. It sucks. Oh yes, I definitely want to make my own home gym in the future. People complain about the smallest things here though. It’s super irritating.
everyone who does a review on this bag is either hold back or doesn’t put that much power into it. bag looks so flimsy already from videos i’ve seen even tho it’s suppose to be made out of high density foam, idk - guess heavy bag is where it’s at
All the time wasted waiting for it to swing back at you... how is anyone satisfied with this thing? I'm stuck with it cuz they REALLY don't want me to return it ($150 dollars shipping is on you...) This thing is terrible for stand up striking.
Acesahn Damn they want you to cover shipping, that’s crazy. I think a lot of ppl assume it’s gona function like a heavy bag or Wavemaster, but it’s not as sturdy. Yes it falls over easier, but it’s also easier on the joints. VS1 is more suited for quick, snappy strikes at range. Using the handles on top for knees and elbows works too since it can’t fall over it ur grabbing it. The grappling and ground striking it offers is a plus too imo. Thanks for your input
@@johnsgym3132 If I get stuck with it, I'll have to settle for punching it on the bounce back with the same arm over and over in sets of X on each arm. Its the only way I could get a decent strength workout with full extension punches.

@@minifig_studios Most of the weight is in base. My bag is about 10lb with 100lb base. I don’t think your height would be an issue with the adult size VS1
Does it bounce back even when you kick or punch it pretty hard?
It falls over a decent amount if you are throwing with full power, especially kicks. It stays up better when you throw quick/snappy shots.
@@johnsgym3132 Thanks. Seemed like it bounced back even when you hit it pretty hard but not full power, so will probably be great for me.
Great low kicks pal
Appreciate it bud. Thanks for the view!
@@johnsgym3132 the bag is good , I was impressed with your skills I'm subbing as well
Yeah this is a good bag. I’m flattered and grateful 🙌🏼
@@johnsgym3132 your quite welcome
What mats are you using??
Those are 12x12ft wrestling mats from AK Athletics
After 2 years of using it. Is it still holding up ? Someone is selling me a used in good condition one for $100 and wanted to know if it’s still good after 2 years of you using it
Yes, it was still good after two years. It’s been over seven years now and the bottom is starting to leak a little bit of sand. Prbly bc I started using it in the garage on a concrete floor.
@@johnsgym3132 thanks for the feedback !👍🏻
@@fernandezjose205 Appreciate the view!
looks good man just ordered one can i smash this with escrema sticks ? also looks light do i have to fill it with sand or water
?
Maybe if the edge of the stick grazed the bag hard enough there could be a potential for tearing, but I think you could hit it with the sticks for the most part. The bag in this video comes with a base already filled with sand. They also make a cheaper version where you have to fill the base up yourself. Hope this helps!

I have it!
Shulk ForLife Ayee, VS1 gang! Haha
is it still holding up
Still holding up well.
I did the same thing with my century bob lol I was gunna wrap the entire bob with duck tape cause my dog likes to help me when I'm hitting it lol so I had a lot of hole and bite marks so I did not finish wrapping it with duck tape and left it in the shed and the tape ended up melting and bob was sticky.. Goo Gone took all that away
GooberVlogs Hahaha that’s hilarious. Wow that BOB must have been crazy sticky. I will give Goo Gone a shot. Good idea, thanks. I used to have a BOB until someone decapitated it. It ended up in the back yard after that and then into the woods he eventually disappeared. Good bag. I miss that bag.
@@johnsgym3132 Goo Gone is great for gum and tape.. I sell stuff online and Goo Gone works perfect for those little sticky stickers that stay sticky on products.. works great to get sticky messes out..Bob is fun..Century has a newer bob combo called VERSYS VS.BOB lol it looks weird as hell and expensive at $499
GooberVlogs Yeah I’ve seen it and it does look strange. I’d love to try it, but you’re right about it being pricey.
But can you throw a simple 1-2 on this thing? Seems like it doesn’t have the proper resistance nor will it bounce back n time for the 2. Lame.

Bro you’re tall af lol the bag is little compared to you
Bro the struggle is real haha
