  • After the disruption of World War II, Walt Disney found himself without a strong direction. He struggled to revive his studio from its postwar doldrums. He wallowed in self-reflection and nostalgia. Without the funds to start work on his dream amusement park, he became obsessed with making his own worlds around miniature railroads. But the park was always there, gnawing at the back of his mind, and working its way into his plans.
    In this seven part series, we explore the experiences that shaped Walt Disney's desire to build his own magical world, and how he eventually came to realize that dream.
