Turd Ferg I think it just felt good to do it. Layne was a fan of STP so it was nice to see Scott pay respects and sing this song, I don't care what anyone else says on this forum. Joe Riznyk Scott was incredibly talented, but I don't think he could pull of Layne's voice and Layne could never pull off Scott's voice. Layne was a medium tenor and Scott was a Baritone. Ok people! Keeping in mind that this is LAYNE's song and no one will ever sing it like he did, Scott does an awesome job of nailing it. And as an artist, Layne would no doubt be happy that his incredible work is being carried on. After seeing this video, I only wish AIC would have selected Scott as their replacement..
All of the vocalists from the Seattle scene/Grunge era had such unbelievable voices. No one can replace Layne on any Alice song, but I think Scott could take most anything from their catalog and make it work to perfection. Eddie and Chris would sound pretty sick too. I'd love to hear Chris singing along to anything off of 'facelift', or to 'got me wrong'. Eddie would sound awesome on some of the acoustic Jar of Flies tracks. "Don't follow" comes to mind right away.
Amazingly good, closest another singer can probably get to the vibe of Staley, probably because Weiland has walked in those shoes. I'm feeling this a hell of a lot more than Velvet Revolver.
Layne Staley has the most amazing voice in metal/grunge to date. His voice will never be replaced.
