Stone Temple Pilots ABSOLUTELY belong in the Rock Hall. Sadly, they will probably have to battle the consensus of critical snobbery over the last three decades that they were just a very successful derivative of the Seattle bands, when in fact, by their third album, they were a lot more Bowie than Cobain or Cornell. You are very missed, Scott.
From Stone Temple Pilots to Velvet Revolver to his Solo career, Scott Weiland is one of the greatest in Rock and Roll. And he is forever missed. (R.I.P 1967-2015)
When I first heard this band, I thought like many it was some kind of Pearl Jam #2 or something but over time, I came to realize that this guy was one of the best of all time. A stand-alone original. Memorizing's the true word.
Weiland and STP as a band have impacted me greatly. You hear Plush and Interstate Love Song and think, wow these guys are great; but then you delve into the deep cuts, acoustic and unplugged material, for instance Atlanta, Seven Caged Tigers, Kitchenware and Candy Bars, Hello It’s Late (till you name em all) and realize how versatile a band they really are. Some songs are so intimate and strike you personally, yet others can be played at party settings or chillin with friends. Phenomenal band.
I remember when Core came out. People would compare STP to Pearl Jam. I never heard the similarities. To me they sounded completely different from each other, still do.
He has not been given the recognition that he so deserves....because he couldn't get clean.Give me a break so many great artists have died from drug addiction, they are still glorified for their talent.I will never understand why he was scrutinized for his addiction which sadly he could not overcome(despite numerous attempts)when he is only one of many famous artists to die from this.He was one of the best vocalist of his time, and it deeply saddens me he isn't remembered for his talent...not for the way he passed.RIP Scott you were AMAZING❤❤❤❤
Thank you Howard, I really needed this. I miss Scott so much. I love that No. 4 - Stone Temple Pilots era footage. That’s when Scott was in a very good place. Long live Scott Weiland!
Utter chills and tears from this tribute to an exceptional gifted frontman. Scott Weiland was one of the last true frontmen STP are totally underrated in the annals of rock. Scott as a solo artist was a virtouso on 12 bar blues and unlike any of his stp material. Another rock icon gone way too soon Rip Scott Weiland.
I got to admit that everytime I want to hear "interstate love song" I listen to the Howard Stern live performance, they caught a very special moment right there, and I like and feel the vibe.
Howard owed him something like this video after the way he was treated on his last appearance on the show. He was a bit pushy with the molestation issue to say the least. This video is great.
I miss Scott and STP so much. He was so talented and STP was the soundtrack for my life during high school and through college. I'll never forget seeing them live and how crazy those mosh pits got when he came out screaming into the microphone.
Saw them in 1999 and 2008 in 08 he just reunited with STP after velvet revolver I think he might have cleaned himself up but the show was at Casino Morongo in California I had a crappy seat and paid good money for it I talked to a security guard he told me to sit in the front row when the band starts standup there was about 10-15 feet before the stage of standing only No one was in front of me but STP coolest show I’ve ever seen they sounded great my buddy got a guitar pick from the DeLeo brothers .. Rip Scott Weiland
STP was awesome. First 3 albums had some great music. Also, was a big fan of Velvet Revolver. RIP Scott. Thx for the posts lately in remembrance of others.
Very great band. They're so loved me, them music, songs. Myself , i love to sing, and i study them several songs. But i'm so missed Scott, he was really such talented artist, frontman of this band.
I think about the time I saw Scott live during their final farewell show in 2002 in Florida, and they put on one of the best shows ever but if you had been front row like I was you would have been able to truly tell that the band was not getting along. Their was definitely bad blood in that band and I saw Scott as someone who could be gentle one minute and the next totally a different human being. I remember waving hi to him and he completed shunned me like I was a nobody. Regardless, I never stopped loving this band and prayed for many years that the day wouldn't come but that day finally did on December of 2015 around one of the darkest times in my life. You are missed sir weiland.
Thanks Howard for highlighting Scott . He was massively talented went to my show of his when I was 17 in 2001 ( didn't even know who they were at that point ) on the family values tour. I never missed another one of his shows in my state after that! He was flawed as most humans are but his art was endless.
Always gets left out of the conversation because he's like #5 of that amazing time period.. but he just got better imo, while the others declined besides Chris.
The blame is all him but I truly think if he didn’t have to tour as much and could walk away maybe he could have made it but that would have never happened. Rip
at 62, i have seen them all, Scott was the best live band front man of them all.
Here's an extra thumbs up for your comment 👍
Truly my biggest inspiration as a singer. His talent was otherworldly.
Same here
Heroin is not a drug to be messing around with. It's taken so many legends. RIP Scott.

So sad he is no longer here.
I got to meet him and talk with him. He really was a gentle soul.
❤️
Weiland Was A Gifted Artist
His Passing Hurt Me
His Vocals And Expression
One Of A Kind
R.I.P. Mr. Weiland
So underrated. Still my favorite band period. STP for life. RIP Scotty Weiland
From Stone Temple Pilots to Velvet Revolver to his Solo career, Scott Weiland is one of the greatest in Rock and Roll. And he is forever missed. (R.I.P 1967-2015)
One of the greatest lead singers of the 90’s . God speed Scott Weiland.
Really nice tribute Howard. Scott was such a great talent, he will always be missed.

Only knock is he sometimes doesn’t let someone go with a story.
I dont disagree
One of my absolute favourite singers and a true vocal chameleon.
Plush is one of my all time favorite songs. RIP Scott

His 12 bar blues album is amazing

His vocal performance on StoneTemple Pilots MTV unplugged Creep is incredible.
One of the greatest voices ever in rock music. Thanks for the tribute to Scott, Howard.
Man he aged HARD in those 3years from 08-11
i think we all did.
Between 8-11, He got divorced, his brother died and Slash kicked him out of Velvet Revolver.
Thank you Howard, I really needed this. I miss Scott so much. I love that No. 4 - Stone Temple Pilots era footage. That’s when Scott was in a very good place. Long live Scott Weiland!
His melodies were so awesome!

Awesome. Thanks for this, Howard. RIP Scott Weiland 1967-2015
He passed in like 2011 or 12
Scott Weiland was super underrated as a front man and as an artist. Still hard to believe he's gone.
Howard owed him something like this video after the way he was treated on his last appearance on the show. He was a bit pushy with the molestation issue to say the least. This video is great.
Every once in awhile I'll scroll to all these clips on Stern and STP. waiting on a movie about the band ❣️rip Scott
One of my favorite and most underrated frontman! RIP 🙏 ⚰
God dammit, I get sad every time I remember he’s not here. Truly my biggest influence and I’ll play his music til the day I die. May he Rest In Peace
I miss Scott and STP so much. He was so talented and STP was the soundtrack for my life during high school and through college. I'll never forget seeing them live and how crazy those mosh pits got when he came out screaming into the microphone.
I miss hearing Scott sing so much. I wish he could have got clean. The world is less without him.
One of the best bands to ever be. RIP SCOTT Love You Brother.
what a shame Kurt was never able to come on the show.
Grunge era was one of the most prominent era in music history.

This was well said by Howard.

R.I.P. Scott 😩
Just went on a GenX time warp. Those were the days
I knew the day would come, but I hoped he would prove me wrong. Hearing of his death made me sad for his family and kids first, and a fan second.
Scott was one of the last great frontmen of rock.
Love this guy man
One thing is for sure Scott did it his way till his last second ROCK ON 😎😎😎
Well said. Amazing frontman
Scott has the talent that is unmatched till today. He went so early

That is for sure.
Childhood hero
Howard, you're so good it's not even funny. Your artistry; your spin on it. Scott- You will be missed.
All my heroes are dead!
So sad to watch Scott deteriorate from herion use. So gifted and true to himself why do they not stop knowing that will probably die!
Yes sir
Miss him.
Geez.... only Eddie Vedder is left from those 90’s “grunge,” bands.
And Dave Grohl
Long live Eddie Vedder!
