    We just picked one of these up this past weekend for a killer price (with trade, we paid only 8K); It's a 2014 model with everything except the tech package, which basically means we don't have the blind spot monitoring or lane assist (which I hate anyway). Ours managed to only have 68,xxx miles and it was in the Moonlight Pearl color that my wife loves. It's super-strong and fast, but likes to drink gas in the city. Highway it does pretty good at 20+mpg at 75-80mph. The ride is glass smooth - and even with the 22" wheels, it irons out the bumps. The fact that this body style is still extremely similar to the later model years means that it doesn't look dated, being almost 10 years old now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we don't have the timing chain or air-suspension issues that seem to be more common on this model. We did get an extended warranty just in case. So far, so good!

    Hi Mike! Thanks for the review! You’ve compared this truck (SUV) to the Land Cruiser and the GX460, but both Toyota products have solid rear axle in contrast to Infiniti’s independent rear suspension. I think it’s a direct competitor to a Toyota Suquoia, and yes, the Sequioa has an independent rear suspension too!

    Too bad the rear liftgate window doesn't pop open or better like Toyota sliding down window. Such a great feature that every SUV should have especially a luxury one.

      Its quite annoying when you open the rear hatch on your SUV and everything falls out. I agree a window that is also operable is a huge bonus!

    Great luxurious option to tow the rv trailer with style. I refuse to be another dad with the 1/2 ton pick up in the camp ground

    Considering picking up a 2014 QX80 or 2013-14 Lexus GX460, thoughts?

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  4 роки тому

      Yes, they share a lot in common too. I think you'll pay a bit of a premium for the Lexus, but I agree taking both for a test drive will help you settle your decision.

    How is the reliability? I found a 2011 with 146k miles for $19k. We need a HUGE family road trip SUV. We have 3 kids and a 100lbs German Shepherd lol so we need room. Never considered this. I considered the GX460

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  3 роки тому +1

      This is a more economical alternative to the GX460. Infiniti is the luxury arm of Nissan so reliability should be pretty good, but probably not quite on part with the GX.

      I own 2012 101k this year change the radiator and the starter. I see in this truck going 200K plus my first one first generation 190k perfect condition strong only reason I don’t have is because it was on a car accident

    There is no 2WD variant of QX80 or Patrol in the Middle East, 4WD is all standard.

    Also this generation Infiniti started in 2011 not 2010

      100% correct. 2004-2007 first years, then mild interior/exterior updates for the 2008-2010, then 2011 was the introduction of this model lineup, which is based on the global design of the Nissan Patrol.

    1st GEN Armada is a TA 60 chassis where the QX80 and 2nd gen Armadas are Y62, totally different platform. The 1st Gen Armadas IMHO were ugly and cheap
