    As a freelance addition I would suggest making art assets or asset packs for games.
    Making games becomes increasingly easier by the year, while game art asset market growth doesn't seem to match .
    Watching how many "asset flip" games pop up all the time, it seems like the demand for art assets is all time high. If you can put time into making complete asset pack, be it 2d, 3d, animations or music, you might just hit the spot for some starting game developers who want to make games without bothering with art.
    Personally I see way too much "Polygon" assets in games and would like it to broaden a bit.

    When I watch this stuff I feel so helpless. Its always "you dont need people skill for that, you dont have to be that good to reach this, you dont need tons of followers for that" but honestly I feel like I do. I never know where to start from and I feel like I'm not putting enough time into improving my art, it feels like theres always something missing or something keeping me from progressing and that makes me feel like ill always be needing a hand leading me around. Ive bet let down quite a lot when i attempt to do something involving my social media followers for example, theres mostly no answer and it feels hopeless tp try commissions in that case. Another big issue might be that this made me lose a lot of confidence in my skill, Ive never been a very confident person and it breaks easily.

      Same same, that's why I don't like these types of videos, it's easy to say "you're an introvert but you still can do this and this, it's super easy!!!!" is it though? In my experience trying to do commissions (and failing), you DO need a following, you do need to be extroverted or else people won't engage with you on social media, even if you're selling things online you still need a following so you can succesfully sell things instead of having to wait years for someone to notice your products. And this makes us doubt our artistic capacities because no one wants our art ):

    • @vinushion
      @vinushion 3 роки тому +69

      Exactly this. I hate it when these videos come in with the idea to sell to the average artist that they too can "make it" when we all know Reality doesnt work like this.
      Really, whats going on here is that these people are making these type of videos to appeal to a bigger audience by targeting specific communities within general ones in order to "accomadate" their needs and respond to them, when in reality, theyre just trying to find another way to gain more subscribers and more people behind their following.
      Now im not saying that they do this effortlessly without any real intention, quite the opposite actually, maybe this guy has good intentions of trying to get us introverts to gain more following and more success with these business ideas, but if history is anything to go by, we can all relate when we say that it really hasnt done anything for us at all...
      They might be helping, but without a proper plan and a proper starting point all of this "helpful" information gets thrown out of the window when theres no proper foundation to kickstart it. Which is something most of these videos dont talk about at all...
      Its mostly just "i did this, it worked for me, so it might work you"
      And to absolutely no ones surprise, it doesnt apply 95% of the time for the people here who watched this.
      Kind of a sad reality but yeah..

  • @MissyMona
    @MissyMona 3 роки тому +172

    I feel like you're spending more time trying to sell me on the idea that "I can do it" then actually helping. It feels like you're here to sell products first and foremost and that you denounce the actual difficulties of being an artist in a world where art is over saturated and the majority of companies rely on cheap labour from other countries and other exploitable ventures.

    On the topic of affiliate marketing, if someone comes to you offering to advertise your work( whether that is a course you made, or art tools, etc) for a commission every time that thing sells, take it! It's free publicity and a way to get more eyes on your stuff; not everyone knows your work. I used to reach out to artists for this and was very surprised at the number of artists that declined or sometimes were offended by the idea. If someone comes to me offering to advertise my stuff and they only make money from each sale( they only make money if I make money) I will say yes to that every time.

    Sadly, this video is just selling a dream and not something achievable through determination alone.
    You could be the best artist in the world and the most consistent, but if you have bad luck and no following, you won't be able to do anything, and I personally know someone who tried their best until they dropped art almost entirely due to economic needs.
    This isn't a world where mere effort can get you everywhere. Luck is extremely important and the most determining factor, especially in art.

      Why do people who feel demoralized want others to feel the same? Someone has to believe they can do it first. Life is predictably unpredictable, that's a fact. Let others at least try based on the belief that they can do what they desire rather than enter an environment with a negative outlook.

    "unique cusrtomized products will always have a market..."
    I'm a realism artist (also an introvert) and most at times I don't even consider myself an artist because I what realism entails is just copying the picture pixel for pixel. I don't have any unique offering and it's demoralizing tbh. I'm trying to go into more stylized stuff, and probably 3d art now but I'm a perfectionist so failing at the first few attempts doesn't feel like an option :(

    • @oneutch4048

      Well, people like Rafa Grasseti and Daniel Bel seems to always being working, and they're not in the stylized kind of characters.
      Maybe focusing in what you're good instead? Realism takes a perfectionist mindset to do each little detail, where stylized artists are more direct/minimalist.

I think this video is very helpful, because this does help an introvert see the paths career wise. I used to hear older people who were extroverts, tell me not to make a career out of my passions I want to retain. I am not sure, but from you, it seems like it might not pertain to introverts? Either way I should try to make a career out of a passion because it seems like it may actually work out.

      I’m also trying and seems like I found a way you need to make 2-3 reels, shorts and Tik-Tok and upload it on all of these platforms and using the trending music. Shorts seems like the best option to get people attention these days. And promoting the posts is really important nowadays I don’t want to spend money but I have to if I want to increase my followers that’s just how social media works. And use the same username for all platforms and give the link of all platforms in the bio.
      I didn’t tried it myself yet but I will do it today let’s see if it actually works or not.

    I understand your points and they aren't wrong, they're just... misleading? Extroverts can do all these things just as well as introverts. Like you said, the only difference is where we get our energy. Being an extrovert doesn't mean you always want to talk, just that you gain energy from being around people. And an introvert can talk ears off, they just recharge by themselves.
    I don't write this with any malice or "You're wrong, I'm right!" attitude. I just don't like it when something as general as introversion and extroversion is talked about as if they are two sides of a single coin when in reality they are two sides of a thousand sided die. People are complex and different. Self reflection is the key to understanding your own strengths and weaknesses, and you are the only one who can do that.
    I did like the video, as I do your channel. But I would love it if you expanded on those ways to earn money rather than listing them off. Like how do I go about selling myself as a commission artist? How do I advertise myself? What price should I be charging? What pitfalls are there with the tutoring and instruction market? Things like that.
    I would love to hear stuff that is more focused on specifics rather than general areas.

      Unfortunately, I only have time to make 1 business/income video a week, so I have to choose topics that I KNOW are going to do well. I'm debating creating a second channel to dedicate to these topics (business, making money with art etc...) where I'd be able to touch on these topics in way more detail, because there is a LOT to talk about in the smaller details.
      Thank you for your comment! I'm on the same page as you there, hopefully I can find more time to tackle these topics in depth!
