    This site is much needed!!
My People perish for lack of knowledge is something we have all witnessed.
Too many are lazy in their intake of the WORD😏 They rely on ministers that are only interested in saying what people want to hear. As a result they have congregations filled with Biblically ignorant congregations who are inadequate in doing spiritual combat with the cultural of the day.
So all that to say-“Bravo Dr Smith on shedding the full light of the Word on us!”💕👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I simply *LOVE* the history of the post-exilic Jews, from Zerubabel to Esther to Ezra to Nehemiah. Mighty miracles, not instant, but stretched over time to see God constantly working on behalf of His people.

Great teaching. Now I understand the lessons in the book of Esther. I have always wondered how God was able to work throu gh a people who seem not to be living according to His commands. How Esther got married to an obviously worldly Persian King..

Now King Xerxes was the ruling king
From India all the way to Cush
    He lived a luxurious life
A lavish life of plenty and much
    A big beautiful banquet
    He hosted his third year
    The who's who of everyone
    Was expected to be there
Nobles and princes of the provinces
Were quite excited and certainly eager
The guest list included Persian military officials
    All of the important leaders
The king wanted to impress his guests
    He thought of many ways
Xerxes displayed his wealth and glory
    For a full 180 days
    He showed everyone the gold
    The pearls and the silver
    White linen, costly stones
    Purple material, marble pillars
At the end of the party everyone had plenty of wine
    The Kings wife, Vashti, and
The women partied at the same time
King Xerxes was high in spirits
From the wine on the seventh day
He commanded Vashti to come to him
    Put her beauty on display
    His AIDS delivered the message
    The queen refused to go
    The king burned with anger
How dare she tell him no
He called his team of advisors
    Who understood the times
They said he must do something
    Concerned about their own wives
    They will dishonor us
    If she can dishonor you
Send her a way to never again
    Never to approach you
Let this be known to all
    Make it an official decree
Then find someone else to be queen
    Who is better than she
When the other wives hear this
    Then they will all know
    To obey their husbands and
    Much respect they will show
    Please with the advice
The king did what they proposed
    Message delivered and received
Let every man rule his household
    (By Esther Coleman-Spells)

Thank you for all the background history on the book. A lot of things fall into place. you mentioned that Esther and Mordecai were not complying with the law because they were supposed to go to Jerusalem. Were they at this point free to roam around or still considered captives?

If "approaching the king" was dangerous (as stated at 4:11), how could Esther have "informed" the king of the plot to kill him (as stated at 2:22)? (I think I know.)

    • @johnbuchan3678
      @johnbuchan3678 3 роки тому +1

At Esther 6:13, Haman’s wife Zeresh showed that she knew that anyone who tried to kill Jews (God’s people) would be killed. But at Esther 5:14, Zeresh had suggested that Haman kill Mordecai (the leader of the Jews) by hanging him on a stake. When Zeresh made that suggestion to Haman, do you think she was deceiving Haman into getting himself killed?

  • @Anna57646

The history discussed in the into confuses me. Was the banquet just after Xerses was defeated at Thermopylae? If so when was Esther brought before Xerses?
Or are you saying the banquet was just after the death of Darius in Egypt? And Esther was brought before Xerses after Xerses was defeated at Thermopylae?
Also, Leonidas and the 300 were Spartans not Athenians. You probably knew that but you didn't say it. So it's a touch confusing.
    Thanks.

Can we firmly establish Mordecai was in Susa in the month of Nisan, instead of in Jerusalem for Passover? The slight at the beginning of c.3 seems to be separate from the casting of Pur in the month of Nisan. I agree Mordecai is a morally ambiguous character but I'm not sure we can establish his neglect of passover in c.3 .... thoughts?

    • @7thangelad586
      @7thangelad586 4 роки тому +1

I don’t think the Passover was reestablished in Jerusalem until the completion of the Temple during the time of Haggai, Zerubbabel, and Sheshbazzar.

They thought that they could win them, because the point was the most advantageous given that they were afraid οf a possible Thessalian betrayal. Efialtis(in greek nightmare) guided the Persians at the back of the Greeks and the battle was lost before it began.

    7:45
    Esther 4
16Go, and gather together all the Jews whom thou shalt find in Susan, and pray ye for me. Neither eat nor drink for three days and three nights: and I with my handmaids will fast in like manner, and then I will go in to the king, against the law, not being called, and expose myself to death and to danger. 17So Mardochai went, and did all that Esther had commanded him.
They're Jews. We don't need to see the name of God YHWH to know into who's hands they were putting their fate.
I'll agree the story is about people who may not be the most devout and faithful, but God will still listen to flawed believers if they ask. Ask and you shall receive. Besides, I think God is also pleased with Esther willing to risk her own wellbeing for a greater cause

Typology is a foreshadowing of things to come
Queen Esther is a typology of God’s end time remnant church
Vashti the first queen was called by her name by the King and she refused him (Jews)
So the kingdom went to another woman (gentiles, remnant church)
    Esther - Beautiful chaste virgin
    Esther 2:7
    God’s church - chaste virgin
    2 Corinthians 11:2
Esther -Orphaned, Mordecai took for his own daughter
    Esther 2:7
God’s church- Will not be left orphaned
    John 14:18
Esther couldn’t come into the King unless called by her name
she came in unto the king no more, except the king delighted in her, and that she were called by name.
    Esther 2:14
God’s people - called by His name
    Deuteronomy 28:9-10 KJV
[9] The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways. [10] And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord ; and they shall be afraid of thee.
The King Loved Esther above all the virgins - Esther 2:17
Set the royal crown upon her head
    Esther 2:17
God’s people- ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
    1 Peter 5:4
Haman - Esther 3:1 set his seat above all the princes before him
What did the devil want ? Isaiah 14:13 wanted his throne set above all the stars
    Not a Persian
Esther - Others bowed and reverenced Haman Esther 3:2
End time deceived- received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image.
    Revelation 19:20
Esther - Haman (name magnificent) represents devil
full of wrath when Mordecai didn’t bow to him
Haman sought to destroy all of God’s people
    Esther 3:5
    Daniel 3:19
God’s end time church - not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
    Revelation 13:15 KJV
Esther - There is a certain people ….their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws:
    Esther 3:8

Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
    Revelation 14:12

    Revelation 13:15
Bride - if I perish I perish I must go before the King
King holds out receptor - grace
    Psalms 45:6
Jesus is the King who extends grace to those who don’t deserve it
    King reverses death decree
Esther - Many people of the land became God’s law keeping people
    Esther 8:17
    God’s end time people -
Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins,
    Revelation 18:4
    Mark of the beast
Speak and cause as many who don’t worship the beast to be killed
Decree to go forth against the people of God will be very similar to decree sent forth in Esther’s time
    Revelation 12:17 KJV
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

I needed to hear this. I was served divorce papers by my husband of 34 years at the local food pantry where I volunteer 2-3 days a week, which is in a church basement. So, I took the papers, laid them on the altar up stairs and did what King Hezekiah and King Jehoshaphat did. I laid prostrate and cried out to GOD for help. The Holy Spirit said, "He is not divorcing you, he is divorcing GOD." So, by taking me to court, (of which I will not go), The Holy Spirit is taking him to GOD's Court, where He is the Judge of all judges, and Jesus is my Defending Lawyer. He's going to lose. Like Haman, he did this over money and spite. I'll let you know when the funeral plans are made! I wrote this 3 yrs ago, 3 yrs after he left me when I had cancer www.kristinalallen.com/2020/05/top-ten-reasons-there-will-be-no.html Then, I wrote this the other day, www.kristinalallen.com/2020/07/when-backed-up-against-wall-do-what.html

Mordecai is SO close to speaking of God’s hand in the salvation of the remnant of Israel, but it’s never explicitly mentioned. I wonder if this book was edited by the Medopersians or some pagan people in order to take God out of it.

7th AngelAD, you asked a good question. I don't think I can conclusively answer your question but, according to one of the Jewish commentaries I have read on the book of Esther, God is not mentioned because the author of the book wanted to show that God is at work "behind the scenes" of history. The failure to mention God in the book caused great debate among the Jewish scholars on whether or not to include the book of Esther into the Hebrew canon of sacred texts. In the end, the decision was made in favor to declare the work as inspired.
