I was in their Edinburgh fitting studio last week for a new set of irons. Absolutely brilliant experience from start to finish. Now back in Sri Lanka and excitedly waiting for the new arrivals.
Yes I would want to get fitted. I went to a TaylorMade fitting day with a view to buying one, but they had none available, even for me to try. As you know they sold out very quickly. Eventually my club found one online, so I bought it, but no fitting was possible. I set it up myself and fiddled about with the settings, but I am doubtful I have got this right and would still benefit getting a proper fitting. I went for a 9.5º, stiff shaft. Love the feel.
Absolutely love to see a fitting video for a good golfer and seeing the difference a fitting makes. I'm getting fitted tomorrow and really looking forward to it. I'm 47 years old and come from days of the smaller driver(Brosnan Sterling) up to the space stations that we now use(Taylormade SLDR 460cc). I have experienced two freak clubs when I was younger but unfortunately couldnt afford them. I really have almost zero confidence in my driver ATM and feel that it never has suited me but I have persevered. I now have the money, hopefully I can pick up extra yards and accuracy to boot. This video has provided some extra encouragement I was chasing to justify the fitting.
@Pud56 overall gained about 50 metres on prime strike(30 off centre) and am alot straighter than the two drivers I had. Unfortunately have to wait 6 weeks for it to be built and delivered. Went with a Gt2 with custom shaft and driver set on draw bias. Tried Qi10, Ping, Cobra Ai Smoke to name a few but the Titleist was the best performer....
I am always intrigued by these type of videos you make and how these comparisons with different shafts on the same club head. Changing the grip was very interesting too. Which shaft did you end up with? Thank you for all your videos, they have opened my mind and improved my game immensely!!
Got fitted for irons and wedges at SGGT in the last year - taken 3 shots off from my WHI ! They really know there stuff , and my black RDX6 with the black tour issue s400’s look out of this world 🌍 it’s Pandora’s box for the golf equipment nerd
That was really interesting thanks James. I love my mini driver and tried a few different shafts and landed on a hzrdus black 6.5 but wonder if i should try a ventus. Have you tried different tee heights too?
Mini Driver is 3 wood length shaft , if you have any Taylor made titanium 3 woods ( since they have the adaptor ) you can swap it out to try in the mini which has worked better for myself, I found the heavier 75gram shaft worked nicely.
John Daly was preaching about getting fit for grips in the video he did with Bryson. Interesting to see that your fitting ended up slightly that way also.
Question, say you went here for a fitting and got your perfect shaft, how would that affect if you swapped your driver head (assuming same manufacturer) to just straight swap the head or would it need another full fitting? Say if you wanted to go from a Ping G425 to a G430, would a full fitting again be required or just straight swap the shaft over yourself?
Maybe I'm alone here, but I enjoy watching club fitting videos. I learn quite a bit from them, even though my swing is considerably different than James Robinson's.
I have 3 shafts I’ve been playing with. Ventus blue 6-S, Tensei blue 75g Stiff, and an Aldia Rouge 2.0 80X. The Ventus is my least favorite of the 3. I prefer the heavier shafts in this club. Think I’d like the ventus the best if it was a 7X. I bought the 13.5, but wish I had gotten the 11.5. So I have mine playing at 12 with heaven weight in the front. Would be cool to actually get fit like this to maximize it. Right now it’s my only driver, but I do have a GT2, that I’m waiting to get back from Titleist warranty. Like you said with your irons and driver swing, I’m currently in the same situation. I’m stripping my irons right now, but my driver path is left and killing me
Its a shame with these fittings that 99% of the time they come out with a huge upcharge on the shaft, i know if you was taking your own driver it would be at a cost but when buying a new £500/£600 driver and its an extra £300 for the shaft, it starts getting a bit eye watering!
Explanation of your path makes sense now 👍👍....but i still think your overprotecting your 4 left too much i think your parh has gone to far left maybe 👍👍 ....and at last youve the bloody weights 😂😂😂
Honestly yes. If you are buying new. Get fit first. I got fit at PING here in Canada. Then went to a big box store to order my specs (irons). For the driver, I bought the one I wanted for cheaper on demo day, then retro-fit it with the setting and shaft I wanted. To buy new, full price without fitting in this day and age just doesn’t make sense. 🤷♂️
How are you finding the new mini driver. As a fellow leftie, love it but the shaft seems a little whippy and draw bias. Playing with shafts now myself. You local to Silvermere?

Enjoyable video showing the fitting process. That facility is top notch too, very nice.

Good luck, hope its a fitting and not a sales exercise, there are some charlatans in the fitting business

Get those castle tees in the bag too! 😁 Excellent video!
good thing they didn’t try the stock shaft with the weight back and the loft up probably would’ve been fine
Absolutly love my BRNR mini. I did change to a midsize grip and love the feel of it. It is my go to off the tee.
That young man was excellent
Remember the old taylormade burner 9.5 steel shaft back in the junior days lol how times have changed

Great video. Interesting. Agree should consider shaft length. And curious about the left to lift at takeaway!?
That was really interesting thanks James. I love my mini driver and tried a few different shafts and landed on a hzrdus black 6.5 but wonder if i should try a ventus. Have you tried different tee heights too?
My "mini driver" is a 345 which is a 3-head with a 4-loft and a 5-shaft. Amazing club for the tee or the deck.
What about shaft length? Are you testing the mini driver head with stock length driver shafts?
That’s what I was wondering as well..he never mentioned what length shaft he was using
Were they proper driver length shafts or 3 wood shafts or mini driver length shafts?
Has to be mini driver length otherwise it will throw off the swing weight and they would then need to adjust for that, which they didn't

@@WilliamWright-hf8ob my 2024 Taylormade mini driver shaft is slightly longer than a regular 3 wood shaft

I find it interesting that you talk about getting fitted but in your videos you and Chris swap clubs regularly and both hit the same club well.

I agree. I'm a gearhead when it comes to clubs anyway.
Given how rare the mini drivers are, it’s a surprise that they have shafts of the right length.
James, mate, what's with the left foot shuffle every takeaway?
I'd like to know if those universal adapters are available to the public?
James, I can't help feeling a Bryson style grip might help you.
10 left path ... was trackman not aligned?
I count 14 different “most forgiving driver of 2024”, which one actually is?
Probably your inability to tell the difference between a question mark and a full stop
🤣🤣🤣
I love club fitting videos
A full fitting for a mini driver would intrigue the hell out of me if I'm honest
I would like to get my mini driver and have a fitted shaft for it .
Would I get fitted for a mini driver?
I get fit for 14 clubs if available locally
Shouldn't you use the same shaft first when you change the weights in the club head ? Or did it got edited out?

Does the fitter (who is terrific by the way) look young for his age, or is he really 15??😂
Had fittings with Jordan at SGGT twice now. Irons and Driver. He really knows his stuff! Don’t let his youthful good looks put you off! 😉
What song is that please
At some point fatigue must creep in
Shaft length? I thought the mini diver had a shorter shaft?
Yes
I hope jordan looked after you !!
Just buy a 2005 model and cut an inch off the shaft Lol
Your bad shot always comes when you sway on your backswing
Cheers Rob il have a look
You aren’t alone. If you go look at 2nd swing by far the most prevalent used shaft is the one on burner mini driver

Even worse when you know cost to these companies is like a third of that….
@@CharlotteK2008or less!!
You don't need a fitting; you need a lesson on fixing that club path.
Why not wear short sleeves James you seem to be always pulling your sleeves up 🙈
Explanation of your path makes sense now 👍👍....but i still think your overprotecting your 4 left too much i think your parh has gone to far left maybe 👍👍 ....and at last youve the bloody weights 😂😂😂
Quite the peanut gallery in the comments
So buying a £500 driver from the golf stores is a waste of money so the best way to buy is only from a fitting shop ??
Honestly yes. If you are buying new. Get fit first. I got fit at PING here in Canada. Then went to a big box store to order my specs (irons). I have the new brnr mini and asked left handed golf (silvermere) if I could get fitted for it and they said no! 🥺
How are you finding the new mini driver. As a fellow leftie, love it but the shaft seems a little whippy and draw bias. Playing with shafts now myself. You local to Silvermere?
You seem to lose your balance a lot jimmy boy….
Poop hitting the fan!
Shaft upgrade = more money 😢
The most forgiving driver is the Ping 10K. You’re welcome.
Agree! It sure ain't a 20-year old mini-remake with a new shaft.
You're both wrong. I have the mini... It's a different club altogether.
You’ve ruined the look of your mini driver now with that blue shaft and grip 🤮
I’m not a big fan of that mini driver whatsoever lose way too much distance.
