It's easier if the road chooses you rather than you choosing the road

As always, great content and solid advice from an experienced overlander. I learn something new every time I watch. This time I learned there's Subaru roads. 🤣

While I am unlikely to take a hard core overlanding trip, I find a wealth of insights to apply to my mostly paved US travels. Thanks!

Loved this video. My initial overlanding plans are what I’d call “slow overlanding”, not moving too much each week but still living on the road wild camping every night. Makes my route planning super flexible and my dollar stretch further.

Before watching, have you ever heard about the mongol rally? Seems like a crazy thing

My route planning is dictated by the availability of KFC along the way.
If you want to see Lions, Giraffes and Elephants, save your money and go to Western Plains Zoo.
What you really need when you travel is a sense of humour and an open mind.

@@adelarsen9776 Dan has a very unusual last name so i always mix it up and get it wrong, just wanted to clarify that. Your advice is exellent if you like KFC and caged animals.

Valid points, Dan, but I still can’t get over the fact that you missed ALL of the most scenic and iconic Patagonia has to offer, in both Argentina and Chile, on either side of the Andes, by driving so far East, on the relatively flat/boring/predictable Ruta 3 🤷 And no Iguazu Falls, one of the top splendors or our planet? To each their own, I guess...
