The fire crackles rhythmically and whimsically as you rest your head against your heavy but snug travel cloak, you've had a long day and now it's time to relax. You've eaten half a bowl of the best stew in these parts, and you've had some good strong ale, you feel fuzzy and warm to the toes. Just then the glissando of a woodland harp reaches your ears from across the tavern - the music is about to begin! As the soft melodies mingle with the sounds of the fire you feel waves of relaxation and restoration come over you. You haven't felt this good in ages. 😌🎶

I work in the cold all day as a driver helper for UPS. My husband is the driver. I come home and put on the gas fireplace, but it just doesn't have the same ambiance as a wood fire so i like to play fireplace noise as well. This is great when we're eating dinner or relaxing with our wine. :)
I know this tavern very well as I go there all the time after a long hard week of labor on my little farm. Just last Saturday night I was in there and sat down with my friend who is a carpenter in our near by village. All kinds of people were there, men, women, dwarfs, and even a couple of old wizards who were staying for a few nights in a room upstairs. We ordered two pints of ale, some ham, cheese and bread. We enjoyed the musician playing his harp over in the corner, and the warm, crackling fire in the fire place that warmed the whole tavern nicely. Everyone was talking, laughing, eating and drinking, and having a grand time. There was a man who sat next to us who was a traveling merchant and staying at the tavern upstairs as well. He was selling his wares in our village for a few days before moving on to another location.
He was selling all kinds of different things, such as clothing, tools, and some interesting jewelry. He pulled out a beautiful neckless made of fine polished stones of a dark green color. My friend and I looked at each other in amazement at this fine neckless as it hung from this strangers hand, sparkling in the candle light. The young, (and pretty) bar maid came over and marveled at how beautiful they were and asked if she could put them around her neck. She did and they made her long and slender neck look even more marvelous. Everyone around us ooooo'd and aaaaah'd at how gorgeous they looked on her. We asked how much they were and he said they were 27 tarns, which was a lot of money to any of us, especially to the bar maid who immediately had a bit of disappointment cross her face. She smiled sadly and said they were beautiful but she could never afford them and began to take them off.
Wait I said, maybe if we all chip in we could buy this necklace for her so she could have them for her own. We all reached into our pockets and pulled out our coins. The dwarfs, men, and the two wizards even, chipped in to try to buy this stone necklace for the now excited young barmaid. We piled the coins on the table, but unfortunately we were short 4 tarns. We all were disappointed at this, especially the young bar maid. But the merchant smiled and took a long drink from his ale and said in a jovial way that it was no problem, that this week he was selling this necklace at a bargain price and that he would be glad to sell it for 23 tarns for the young maiden. We all cheered and the young bar maid smiled and gasped putting her hand across her mouth and said a big thank you to all who contributed and to the strange merchant.
The rest of the night we all made merry as the young bar maid went to and froe serving food and drink, wearing her new neckless around her neck. Eventually the night wore on and we all began to go home to our beds. I bid everyone a good night as I walked home in the cool and clear night. I then got home and laid down in my soft, warm bed thinking about all the nights activities at the tavern, and the bright smiling faces of everyone there, especially the young and pretty barmaid with her new necklace of fine green stones. I didn't ponder to long on these things, as the long weeks work, and the pints of ale and food soon put me into a deep and peaceful sleep.

i feel like i constantly overlook the harp as being one of the most beautiful sounding instruments, until i hear a medieval playlist and im like "ah yes i remember u now" 😭😭
So many sleepless nights filled with tears and sadness. My life has been horrible for me for the past few months, but I almost always listen to this music as I sleep. This is so beautiful and makes me want to close my eyes and imagine the smell of smoke and baked goods in a tavern. Anastasia, look up the Baker named Ragueneau in the play "Cyrano de Bergerac." Ragueneau runs a lovely bake shop with many apprentices and he is a poet and loves books. Immerse yourself into France in the 1640s when Musketeers roamed and did good deeds. Perhaps Cyrano will visit your bakeshop and recite his poetry.
