Thank you for posting this summary! Is the author comparative with judgement? Or have each type/characteristic described been presented with their benefits and detriments and value? This is a very masculine-western approach to "surviving". Work valued above all else. There is more to life. I'm not sure that this mentality and approach is really winning or healthy. It sounds cold and harsh. I can appreciate being strong and persistent, meeting challenges that come our way. Responding with strength. Being relentless in pursuits and through challenges. People do not need to be so harsh and cold to achieve. Kindness, appreciation, and compassion are very important elements to working and competing with others. We still need to be good people. Everyone matters in the hierarchy of achievement. Personal excellence competing with the self to achieve great things or greatness is honourable to a point for sure. We respect those who excel and achieve with relentless pursuit. Pushing the self to keep reaching further potential is respected and offers personal satisfaction. Working hard for a great goal. Winning can also be silent, unseen, kind, very personal, dutiful, and come with other types of sacrifices. Like caring for a family member who is ill or dying. Like putting another's interest (not health) before our own out of kindness. Like putting one's self in harms way to help those suffering in other countries. Think Doctors Without Borders. Purpose, meaning, and heart aren't included in the formula presented in this book. What is presented sounds selfish. We need more than just winning at something. In a world where everyone is trying to win, there really isn't a collective goal to be good people in character.
