I don’t know why they are acting like we don’t know the answer to the “is Saint real” question. We know Vex can’t simulate light which is the biggest determining factor here for several reasons. 1.) There’s so many plot holes that I’m convinced that the story writers don’t actually know the lore in the game from prior writers anymore.
right, the whole point of that season was that we needed to use something like the Sundial to get OUR Saint back, which is powered by paracausal energy. Us rescuing him is part of his backstory. If we just were going to grab a Saint copy from the vex network, it wouldn't be a story moment, it would be a C plot at most. We could grab a vex copy in an instant.

1. I don’t know why they abandoned the grid system. The Vex Network concept fits perfectly with the card / grid system they created back in Season of the Witch with Eris Vendor. 2. It’s time to stop making Saint and/or Osiris emotional. Saint is interesting because he’s the badass whom The Fallen and The Vex both feared so much that they actually worship him. And Osiris is the manipulator of Time and The Elements. The Man can literally Shadow Clone Jutsu himself and send Golden Osiris’ to fight and explore for him. AND he mastered strand in like a day. A Vex that can actually TALK solves some of the problem with The Vex having no personality. Also, Praedyth would be a welcome ally
Osiris didn`t master Strand in a day. The opposite is true. He took a long time to learn it, because he was scared of the requirements to master it (Letting go of control and the fear to lose). Maybe they are interesting to you for there "look at me! I do something cool!"-stuff, but it`s not enough to make a character and they were emotional in the past. Saint wouldn`t have went into the infinite forest, if it wasn`t for his emotional attachment to Osiris and he wouldn`t have come back for Osiris emotional attachment to Saint. I guess it's better than having 20 more steps just for the sake of having more steps. This is fine as long as we end up with new stuff as well. No need to drag the story out.
Bungie named seasons into episodes and split them up into acts. Same exact way of story telling that they have done for YEARS!! Buy product will be different this time … trust us bro

You can’t really defend this season by saying it’s a launch season since this is a new model and the issue stems from the model and the way Bungie is padding for time
It makes me OVERJOYED to hate this season/episode, because nothing makes me feel more alive & happy than to hate the thing that I've been playing for 10 years. I could easily just walk away. Lord knows my backlog of games is mighty. Will I? NOPE! Because I LOVE looking for any excuse to bitch and moan and hate. I'm so glad we're over loving this stupid game I can't stop playing for 10 years and are back on the hate train! HATE ON GUARDIANS! Hate on! 😅
I don’t actually hate the new 3 act structure, but honestly the problem for me this season is that I just don’t really care that much about the story. I’m not interested in Maya or anything from Neomuna for that matter, and while the vex are cool they’ve always been very weak in terms of story progression. Also I’ve never found Saint and Osiris to be memorable characters like Eris or Zavala or one of the other seasonal characters. Holding out until next episode because that looks way more interesting.
I feel the same way but I think it’s because they took the characters and made their whole existence be about being in a relationship which would make me uninterested in any character.
Well I am actually interested in Neomuna and it should get just as much development as the Dreaming City. A sad Frank thing about it is that it will forever be under seige by the Shadow Legion. There is no ways Bungie wants to remove patrol zones again due to the uproar, meaning that Neomuna will have its citizens permanently trapped in the CloudArk. There’s so much potential for story there. I’m glad Maya Sundaresh is returning to try and restore the Golden Age. It means the story will Lakshmi-2 and Veil Containment actually had a purpose and a payoff. We already had a story where the Vex are trying to do Vex things for the sake of the Vex, it was called D1 Vanilla and Curse of Osiris. I’m gonna be upset if Neomuna plays no role in this Episode. One of their Founders has literally returned as a Exo Vex (Vexo lol) Hybrid and is taking control of the Vex. They better take responsibility for her messes, or at least condemn her actions. Oh, and please use their Nanites to repair the City and Actual Tower, please.
I liked Saint-14 better when he was...eternaly asleep in D1 & was just but a lore page. Immortalized by his heroic deeds & tragic end at the hands of the Vex. Now, his character feels "nuetered" & watered down. Osiris as well. Two legendary characters, turned into forced tokens. 😕
@@KermitOfWarYou only call them forced tokens because you don’t want them to be gay, so you can’t imagine anyone else would want that either. Which is completely selfish and prejudice. 😕
It's literally exactly the same as a season. Decent activity, do random fetch quests, listen to boring-ass dialogue and story. It even uses the single vendor with upgrade tree model to distribute rewards. This is also like the 4th season to heavily involve Osiris when he's maybe the lamest character in the franchise right now. Every time he shows up he's just a whiny jobber character to build up the enemy, make us feel bad, and not do anything helpful. Really hope they just kill him off so we can get some fresh blood in the story.
It does not matter if it woke or not....just if it is good or not. This Episode has been meh for now, ACT 2 of the episode leaked and looks hood so lets see@@RandomDude45_X
Explain to me in this week 4 quests it says to do specimen Nes003 which isnt going to be fucking out till the next act, story is bad, and this just feels more timegated till they figure out what to do with destiny
Yeah, so far, the only major difference seems to be more cutscenes and slightly higher production value, maybe that comes from them being longer, I don't know. But talking about the progression of seasons from the expansion one to the next expansion getting better...I'm sorry, but that's not relevant. We can look at Defiance and say it was lame, then Deep, Witch and Wish getting better, but as I always ask...where is that content now? Gone? What's going to happen to Episodes after this year is over? Are they also gonna go? If the answer is yes, and it's not going to build the overall world into something that feels even larger and grander and bigger for a player to fully immerse themselves in, and is just an attraction for people to bum around in for a bit until it's removed...then why should I care to log in and experience it? Because it's temporary? Nah. That doesn't respect us, our time or our ability to choose when WE would like to play the content. Destiny's biggest problem is oppressive FOMO, and that ONE thing about Episodes hasn't not been addressed. But hey, wait another year. I'm sure Frontiers will be yet another "whole new era of Destiny," amirite?
We need campaigns with campaign difficulty, this scan shit n wait here stuff is killing me, can we get a short timer and a bunch of enemies jumping us as we run for our live in the dark, we need WOTM Zamboni back
Billion dollar corp, 10+ years buidling destiny, when they say improvements and changes are coming with episodes they need to launch like that. Not in act 2 in almost a month and act 3 in 3 MONTHS. Not in episode 2 and 3 later in the year. Launching with an expansion is not an excuse imo. Either delay the launch of the episode to further down the line and make your expansion more replayable in the mean time or figure it the f out lmao. Billion dollars to figure it out with 😂 just disappointing to see them launch something as great as TFS but the day to day still being corporate money squeezing.
The campaign, raid and final mission felt like a genuine conclusion to my time with Destiny. It gives me full closure and ends on a high note I never thought they’d achieve. Zero interest in whatever mumbo-jumbo is happening on Nexus.
I don't understand how bungie thought the episode model was any different from the seasonal model. It actually is worse cause the drip feed of story content is actually slower and worse. AND it is the same play this weekly activity no one finds fun theb play a 10 minute fetch quest for 2 minutes of story. Then you get the "oh weekly vendor has to stick their thumb up their own ass for a week come back when they are done" bullshit. It is literally the same as seasonal content.
These stories aren't even self contained. The entire plot of them is literally tied to the ending of Final Shape narratively. I get why but then that makes them NOT SELF CONTAINED. Its not separate stories at all. Its a good story, but its literally a continuation of the narrative we've had.
They meant self contained from each other. Each episode is supposed to be happening simultaneously, as we know from the end cutscene of final shape that while the Nessus echo is being investigated, Crow is investigating Fikrul, and Eris is investigating the Dreadnaught. Since the episodes can be played in any order, every 1st act of each episode will probably have the characters involved finding the echo, identifying it as such, doing some investigation, and leading on to the episode's actual story.
@@voltus20 episodes fail at that so far because it’s already apparent some of this episode is the explanation of echoes and is that really gonna get mentioned 3 times
One of the main things I'm not a big fan of is not being able to level beyond 100 (as far as I can tell anyway) I wanna be able to claim 101+ rewards when they release Bungie 😭 instead of having to level up more
Bungie promised that Episodes will WILL deliver a "new storytelling experience" and it's just not. It's just a longer, stretched out, rebranded season. Bungie lied. Again. That's the issue.
So for those who haven't been deep diving into the lore, the Vex have been becoming more human. Their mannerisms under the Conductor's control have started to elicit a lot of feelings... such as joy, friendship, fear, dissent. There are Vex that step out of mobile configuration when making assaults, there are Vex that greeted guardians without attacking them (poor waving Vex that got smashed by a titan unknowingly), there are the Vex during the Saint mission that were retreating rather than blinding running at you (its weird to see them backsteping instead of teleporting and sprinting at you). It would seem that Maya was using the Vex Network as a repository for preserving Golden Age culture and is now forcefully integrating it into the minds of the Vex. This is probably why you see her operating on a new Vex frame that looks humanoid in the trailer/promo material. She is probably trying to create a new species of human, or at the very least, make the Vex seem more humanlike as a deterrent to us just mindlessly slaying them.
I like the story. The story is interesting. However, this feels exactly like a season. The delivery is just more of the same, and there just feels like there's more time gating.. think the issue is they advertised episodes as something cinoletwly different from seasons, so I hope it gets better from here
It’s literally the same as season, just shittier The terraformed Nessus looks sick. But it’s only present in missions, if you go into patrol it’s the same old Nessus……
for the best part of act 1 is fail safe. with cayde being gone gone. you need a character who can make light of a serious situation without completely destroying the tone of the narrative. cayde as a character written and acted out, did this very well. and bungie imo has struggled to give us an alternative in cayde's absence. until fail safe. surprisingly, for me, she fills this space cayde leaves behind well. i would love to see failsafe have a permanent role moving forward in the overall narrative. make that lady an exo pls bungie. a well deserved up grade imo
Fully agree. They're getting the hang of it when it comes to dipping into humour without disrupting the tone, and making Failsafe a lot more interesting and fleshed out in the process. It's cool to know that her "second" voice is just her normal voice passed through a politeness filter. That opened the writers a new door to expand on her character.
I feel like releasing all of the Acts on the first day they become available for people to play at their own pace would help mitigate the "drip feed" style that people are disliking.
Doesn't the Mesmerize mission look like the Mercury set up. It just has plants lol. I think Mercury is the right planet, I can't remember. It's been so long

All of which is given to us in a similar manor as D2 lore cards and one line of dialog per npc guildwars 2 new expac system with yearly releases, cheeper than d2, give new zones several time the size of a single d2 zone, more npcs, more sotry, more weapons, just more EVERYTHING same goes for wow, same goes for ff14, same goes for freaking MIDFIELD -.- seriously kinda just ruins the final shape the first good expac since forsaken -.-
Doubt they'd kill Failsafe tbh, but I think that they're gonna kill Saint, and maybe Osiris as well. nothing concrete to back this up, just a sense I'm getting. In regards to Maya (or is it Chioma...), we'll probably kill one version of her, but I imagine theyd pull an Ultron and her consciousness would transfer to another body, may just take a while. Doubt theyd permanently kill of the first real Vex personality so quickly
Alright so I have a lot to say on this. *Spoilers* (Duh.) It feels like there's never any real stakes in Destiny with few exceptions. Saint-14 goes missing, only to be immediately rescued with no actual consequences to his capture other than annoying, misplaced, weird robot-human LGBTQ-pandering drama. Never mind the fact that for all of these story tidbits, we have to slog through what I'd say is arguably the most bland, boring, and frustrating seasonal activity set they've *ever* released. Anyway, considering that Saint-14 is basically my favorite character within Destiny due to his infectious enthusiasm and stalwart warrior attitude, I was genuinely interested in the prospect of having to potentially *FIGHT* him - somebody who has up until now been a critical character and ally. Not just because that would hurt to have to kill him after he was mind-controlled by this new big bad guy, but also because it would be insane for the developers to have added a fight against a human(ish) character like that in the first place. But no... Instead we go into a room, Ikora comes in and blah-blah-blahs Saint into snapping out of it, and then he... gets depressed or something? I have to say, I haven't been blown away by Act 1. But... as we all know in storytelling, typically the first act in the story is setting up the big problems and the main villains, and Act 2 acts as the ramp up, where the stakes are truly set, with act 3 being the big finale where all the cards are on the table, do or die. Not that that's an excuse. A good writer can make a story interesting the WHOLE way through. Hopefully act 2 and 3 make up for the misgivings of the 1st. It would be a shame to lose the storytelling momentum they built up from Final Shape's absolutely incredible ending, despite a few missteps and "Huh?" moments through the narrative leading up to that point.
AS joke:how much Bungie paid you to keep making lobby for them?We know that u make money with this game but man..this is a worst season than defiance..Also are u happy with max 22% of the playerbase to have exotic class items?Yes, cuz again elittists wins!Keep promoting this boys and the game will be the same..bad.Especially when campaign are over. They said that this one need to be on par with Forsaken? For story yes, it is or better, but check the numbers of exotic armors and weapons from Forsaken and compare to this one.
On one hand, this new extended format allows me to go play other games with new updates like Palworld's Sakurajima update without feeling like I'm forced to stay on D2 to progress. On the other hand, this is still no excuse for players who exclusively play D2 to have to be fed even harsher drip content. I hope Bungie eventually finds the right balance, story and progression wise.
All I know about this story is vex bad, failsafe happy, and saint is confused alone with myself. So far this episode ain’t it. I’m calling it now. The conductor is just panoptes from the curse of Osiris DLC.
I feel like I'm the only one that doesn't mind how the seasonal stuff is playing out... I agree the breach activity is kinda mid, but the Protocol activity is kinda cool and I enjoyed the setting of that last mission. As far as the story telling goes, maybe I had adjusted my expectations correctly. I like that I can get an injection of story, and then take a break from it. My experience with the old seasonal stuff was that there was a lot of what felt like padding to the dialogue and quests whereas this feels a little more to the point and maybe even slightly better written, even though we only get it once every few weeks. But that to me is fine, it gives me a chance to step away from destiny without feeling like I'm risking missing something... Plus if this means we eventually get more drops like TFS because Bungie has given themselves room to breathe, than I'm totally fine with that. I don't know. I honestly don't mind it but I'm interested to see how the next 2 acts play out. If they don't culminate in something interesting story wise than I'll be disappointed.
Episode 1 is telling of some secret villain trying to rule the universe.... Ring any bells yet?? That and it's basicly renamed Season into Episodes just the duration is longer with just as much activities and story to it as Seasons. One thing making it worse though... even more timegating then we had in seasons. Bungle really dropped the ball on this one folks
They need to have mini campaigns per act that people can play in one week. While CoO wasn't great it felt like a mini expansion. This would make people who just come for story play seasonal content. The remaining weeks in between can have extra missions and lore stuff to get red borders etc for us regular players. Seasons/ Episodes feel much less engaging due to it's delivery.
and for now they delievered ass.. we just spent time in the final shape collecting stuff like prismatic, doing events, the blooming etc and the new "episode" aka rebranded season just gave us fetch and collect content spread over 3 weeks and 2 weeks of nothing else.. gg with the final shape, happy that i didnt buy the annual pass time to wait for d3 or just say goodbye to bungie *shrug*
Yup the honey moon is over. Id prefer theyd drop the seasons all together, I prefer nothing than mediocrity. Atleast this way we would get More strikes, pvp maps, etc... On the expansions.
Shame to see they duped us with the "episodes" rebrand of seasons, same formula and less content. At this rate the honeymoon phase is gonna end real quick. First Descendants is out next week, Elden Ring is hitting so people will drift away again.
So far, episodes are substantially worse than seasons. Its just more time gated content. I don't see how a single thing has improved. And they have obviously made all of the episodes for this year already, so we cant expect anything to get any better for an entire year. I wasn't expecting anything grand or incredible with the Episode shift, but this is worse than anything i could have expected. I forsee this being one of the worst years of seasonal content we have gotten.
Personally for me - 10 years later. The Final Shape was a good send off as I've not even been interested in doing anything after (post campaign I've done). Feels like the right choice, I'll just watch cross to know what's happening. Guardians it was fun - if you choose to stay enjoy the rest of your time with d2
Bungiee needs to stop making 6 month and year long stories and spoon feeding time-gated bits and pieces that don't make ANY SENSE until the full story is conplete
other option is it could be Chioma Esi. After Maya died she did say something along the lines of "im going to go talk to the vex", so that may be the twist
a worse season, 3weeks on and 3 weeks off 3 fucking times. awful, nothing happens in act 1, nothing. if these are episodes, ill play in the last 3 weeks.
Lol no first descendant will be lucky if it doesn't die in 3 months. The gameplay is rudimentary and it's moreso competing with warframe and warframe has that on lock

All they did was distribute the dead time that is normally at the end of the season into multiple shorter segments between story telling. Then they are just filling the dead time with events that would normally happen so there is no overlapping. Hoping it ramps up some but it is what it is.
I guess it's better than having 20 more steps just for the sake of having more steps. This is fine as long as we end up with new stuff as well. No need to drag the story out.
Go to nessus and press interact 15 times. Absolutely riveting
Oh, you're on Nessus? I need you to come to the HELM so you can go back to Nessus!
They should have just called it:
"Seasons With 3 Episodes Each"
Bungie named seasons into episodes and split them up into acts. Same exact way of story telling that they have done for YEARS!!
Buy product will be different this time … trust us bro
Act 10 is honestly a 13/0. Activity telling and Story is honestly better than the last 3 Episodes.
Act 1 is definitely a 3/10. Story telling and activities feel worse than the last 2 seasons.
Seriously more weird destiny love story that I honestly couldn’t care less for and has been stretched for too long
@@Ballsackeruuuuuu I have to agree, I really just don't care about Osiris and Saint. They weren't very interesting before, and they haven't done anything to meaningfully explore that relationship in order to make us care.

Black armory is one of the best seasons and it launched after an expansion

black armory was one of the worst seasons bro lol you gotta take off the rose tinted glasses the forge was insanely boring and was only good for afk farming
@eli8585 realistically what season wasn't ana absolute boring grind fest playing mediocre activities? Every season that's released in this game is dog poo. At least black armory released a NEW raid with it.

The only character I’ve ever really cared about was cayde and they killed him
I feel the same way but I think it’s because they took the characters and made their whole existence be about being in a relationship which would make me uninterested in any character.
Failsafe is too precious. Omfg. She deserves a Exobody man...
Osiris went from being a worshipped warlock to a lightless personal lol.
Osiris is yelling at clouds as I speak
It's literally exactly the same as a season. Decent activity, do random fetch quests, listen to boring-ass dialogue and story. It even uses the single vendor with upgrade tree model to distribute rewards.
This is also like the 4th season to heavily involve Osiris when he's maybe the lamest character in the franchise right now. Every time he shows up he's just a whiny jobber character to build up the enemy, make us feel bad, and not do anything helpful. Really hope they just kill him off so we can get some fresh blood in the story.
Its just woke stuff forced down players throats.
Osiris is like the grouchy old man who doesn’t want anyone on his yard….

Yeah if you jump into episode 2 you will have no clue what an echo is as this is covering echos
One of the main things I'm not a big fan of is not being able to level beyond 100 (as far as I can tell anyway) I wanna be able to claim 101+ rewards when they release Bungie 😭 instead of having to level up more
I love destiny 2 and bungie, have been a fan since halo:CE...why? Why?? I don't want to be someone's love triangle as a story line...
Watching cross always go into his quest tab and avoid turning in multiple completed bounties for no apparent reason low key gives me anxiety.
I thought it funny that Ain’t is being manipulated by a “conductor” but his ghosts name is Gepetto … a puppeteer/maker 😂
If this ends a lemon party I am out, this is disgusting & depraved...Saint 14 is a power bottom.
I like the story. The story is interesting. However, this feels exactly like a season. The delivery is just more of the same, and there just feels like there's more time gating.. think the issue is they advertised episodes as something cinoletwly different from seasons, so I hope it gets better from here
😂 y'all thought they'd switch up the formula? Na episodes are seasons "reskinned"
It’s literally the same as season, just shittier
The terraformed Nessus looks sick.
Let’s be real - we all knew these episodes would be trash. Old formula for an old game. We need a new model and new game with new mechanics
Or, let's be honest, we need a new developer. That's the issue here.
Man enough of this excuse of expansion that launch with an expansion, how about black armory?
Fail safe sounds like Amy from big bang theory. the negative voice
I feel like releasing all of the Acts on the first day they become available for people to play at their own pace would help mitigate the "drip feed" style that people are disliking.
“You’re an AI to me” @15:30 is crazy lol
Failsafe is singlehandedly saving Act 1 from being complete garbage.

seriously no other game charges this much and gives this little in content -.-
elden right had us wait 2 years for its dlc and we got AN ENTIER NEW GAME, it gave us a new landmass as big as 2/3 two thirds the origonal agme, new weapons, new story, new character, new spells, new skills, and new lore. All of which is given to us in a similar manor as D2 lore cards and one line of dialog per npc

same goes for wow, same goes for ff14, same goes for freaking MIDFIELD -.-
seriously kinda just ruins the final shape the first good expac since forsaken -.-
Doubt they'd kill Failsafe tbh, but I think that they're gonna kill Saint, and maybe Osiris as well. nothing concrete to back this up, just a sense I'm getting.
Seasons/ Episodes feel much less engaging due to it's delivery.
and for now they delievered ass.. we just spent time in the final shape collecting stuff like prismatic, doing events, the blooming etc and the new "episode" aka rebranded season just gave us fetch and collect content spread over 3 weeks and 2 weeks of nothing else.. gg with the final shape, happy that i didnt buy the annual pass
time to wait for d3 or just say goodbye to bungie *shrug*
Episode so far is trash
I will say, if it's not Maya, I would be surprised. The collars that the Vex (and Saint) have is basically the Ishtar Collective logo.
other option is it could be Chioma Esi. After Maya died she did say something along the lines of "im going to go talk to the vex", so that may be the twist
there's no way anyone in their right mind can say Echoes Act I has been good. It's a terrible TFS follow up.
a worse season, 3weeks on and 3 weeks off 3 fucking times. awful, nothing happens in act 1, nothing. if these are episodes, ill play in the last 3 weeks.
Lol typical villain hypocrisy… if Saint was supposed to die, then Maya Sundaresh was supposed to die too lol.

You say you wanna fight Saint but I keep begging bungie to make nimrod a raid boss so we can kill him and never have to see him again
just drop the whole episode? or do 2 acts instead of doing 3? Literally not much has happen in act 1...like what where we get to?

Your thoughts are no longer valid since you're being literally paid by Bungie to promote their sh.

It's sad. The expansion was so good but this episode suuuucks. They dropped the ball.
This new season sucks. Vex on Nessus and failsafe. It all feels very old and dated. Boring
Lets be real. This was a season that had already been wriiten before the change so they're padding it out. Has to be.
The one thing i got from this video was cross saying that episode 2 & 3 of Hotd wasn't eventful... tut tut tut.
Kinda glad I didn't jump back in after WQ, looks like more of the same
3 weeks on 3 weeks off with Episodes is better than 6 or 7 solid weeks and then nothing for that or longer.
Failsafe is going to die at some point, their being REALLY heavy handed

Lol no first descendant will be lucky if it doesn't die in 3 months. The gameplay is rudimentary and it's moreso competing with warframe and warframe has that on lock
