In the last clips of the model as a young Queen Victoria, I just love how her whole demeanor, especially her facial expression, changes as she goes from just plain, modern street clothes to the nostalgic elegance of the costume. She looks radiant! It just goes to show that there is truth in (and I can relate) the concept of "looking better to feel better". There's just something that happens to your emotional state, posture, facial expressions and simply how you carry yourself when you put on a bit of makeup, do your hair and put on your best dress. The reason for that is due to the extreme poverty of commoners during that period. If you're in your own domestic surroundings ( yard, garden, etc), gloves, bonnets, were not necessarily worn, although I'm in the U.S. so maybe our rules were less rigid during this era.
For years I've been wearing 3 braids. When I go formal, the back braid goes in a bun and the front braids go to meet it. It is a look that's shown up in a number of pictures through the centuries and I like it. Before I was consider weird, NOW thanks to the Victoria television show, everyone thinks I'm copying Victoria's look. At least I'm no longer considered weird. Thank you Queen Victoria.
Probably shouldn't say this but Holly is far prettier than Queens Victoria . I love watching these programmes. I have learnt more about our history than I ever did at school lol
I read that American tourist Nathaniel Parker Willis saw the teenage Princess Victoria at the Ascot races, and wrote that she was "unnecessarily pretty and interesting" for someone destined for an arranged political marriage. As an American, he had no reason to flatter Victoria. We tend to have a negative view of Victoria's look because by the time photography was sufficiently advanced to take reliable pictures Victoria was in her forties, and her looks had been worn down by too many pregnancies in a short time. Her first seven children were born in an eight year time span.
actually Victoria was lovely as a very young woman, perhaps closer looking to the actress in the recent Lucy Worsley Victoria wedding special, but still lovely with big blue eyes, and a tiny waist.
@@astrinymris9953 I think the earliest photo of her is from about 1846 - she'd have been around twenty-seven then. It's obviously not the best picture, because photography was literally in its baby form at the time, but it's pretty clear that based on that photo she would be considered pretty at that age :)
The model certainly looks as though she were Queen Victoria incarnated if I believed in this. Especially with the lovely gown and hair with flowers and light makeup. Just perfectly made her look like picture on the wall, but much younger. She even loved fresh flowers and the gardens. The make up artist, is so knowledgeable and does a lovely job. The history given is perfect and really do feel this deserves a high score for all it features and teaches. Covers so much in one blog.

I hope to next see something with Queen Mary of Teck or with her mother-in-law, maybe even something that includes the Queen Mother around the time that her husband would have become king or even around the time when he died. I would also love to see the many layers that are apart of the historical costume; I loved that in this episode we were able to see some of Queen Victoria's actual clothing! Maybe there could even be an episode about how Queen Victoria or another monarch would have dressed and done their makeup during a time of morning.
Yes to all of this! ~Anastacia in Cleveland
Love Amber! Hope she does another historical fashion series ❤️
Love her crazy fashion and HAIR!
You should do Mary queen of scots 💖
I strongly agree
Absolutely
I have to say that the model is stunning. The kind of fresh beauty that is fascinating even without make-up.
PLEASE do a Restoration period transformation! It was such a glamorous, sexy, over the top and saucy time for makeup, hair and fashion.
I want a Regency one.
Me: dying of tuberculosis
Victorian women: omg u look so beautiful. Let me look like I'm dying too!
Please do a video on the late georgian/regency period next! 😍 Would love to see a tutorial on how people did their hair back then as well as facecare 🤗
Can we just admire Holly’s Eyes 😍🤩
The work is stunning, but where are the model's gloves?) It was improper to go out without them)
Maybe they forgot them?
Or without a bonnet!
If you're in your own domestic surroundings ( yard, garden, etc), gloves, bonnets, were not necessarily worn, although I'm in the U.S. so maybe our rules were less rigid during this era.
Diane Bianchi you are quite right, it’s acceptable ;) but they tend to be forgotten by modern re-enactors
It wasn’t supposed to be some regular look but a look for queen modeling for a portrait so maybe that’s why there are no gloves
16:14 WOW this is such an unbelieveable scene. Like I took it back in time. This castle this garden this costume. So authentic
Amber is giving me Madeline vibes
i love the idea of chamomile tea as a soothing eye patch, thank you!
I see a video with Amber and Rebecca, I click.
I wish I had Rebecca's or Amber's fun hair!!!❤
It's lovely seeing Hollie all made up. She's a brilliant stage actress. I hope she gets more chances to do historical work.
can we like talk about how stunning the model is?
For years I've been wearing 3 braids. When I go formal, the back braid goes in a bun and the front braids go to meet it. It is a look that's shown up in a number of pictures through the centuries and I like it. Before I was consider weird, NOW thanks to the Victoria television show, everyone thinks I'm copying Victoria's look. At least I'm no longer considered weird. Thank you Queen Victoria.
The model really did look like a young Victoria. Beautiful house and grounds, too.
How fresh and beautiful Hollie is in this look! The makeup and hairstyle just perfectly emphasize her natural beauty😍
I think Amber is absolutely lovely, her hair is stunning, her sense of style whimsical! I enjoy her docs too!💕
Really enjoy Amber Butchart and these great, immersive docu-minis! Please make more
Lovely result, you captured the overall look really well. She looks, like she stepped right out of a portrait of that period.
Couldn't agree more 😮😮😮😮😮😍❤❤❤❤❤❤
All the models in this serie are gorgeous
Amber mah girl, back at it again
wonderful! Love Amber (hope that the BBC will give her another season of her historical fashion show.)
I need some elderflower water right about now!
2:59 her eyes looked right into my soul and melted my brain
I lovve the hair and the flowers, modern ppl really have no time for this, I never tried any hairstyle other than striagt and pony tail.
This almost brought me to tears. Watching her walking arourd dressed as Queen Victoria was so beautiful. So real. Thank you for the awesome sight.

Agreed. Young Vicky was pretty
Holly's eyes are so pretty ✨
I love every outfit I've seen Ms. Butchart in, I could never pull them off but I love the aesthetic.
The Durbar hall is SO beautiful!!!
God save the Queen!
Victoria truly loved India.
Her contemporaries didn't, obviously.
Who were her contemporaries?
@@idratherbewithmycatrightnow Umm... Lord Nathaniel Curzon the then Viceroy of India, the Prince of Wales who, after Victoria's death, treated Abdul Karim with ruthlessness, and more...
She didn't.
Her eyes made me think of the sky. Such a masterpiece
The model's eyes are STUNNING!! It is quite nice to see close to accurate looks from various eras, it's fascinating. You gals got me down in this rabbit hole of Victorian era makeup and I really do enjoy the ride. :)
is it the light or does she have uneven blush on her cheeks? one side has more blush than the other, it bothers me so much xD
Imagine Queen Victoria had her own make-up palette to sell, an Instagram to show off and Twitter to throw shade.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I think moving on to the next time frame of Edwardian time makes sense. Just to see the fashion and cultural changes at the end of a huge era and the beginning of another huge one
So beautiful! I'm a history buff, & love the mini history lessons with each video! Thank you sooo much! 🙋💜👍👸👑🏰
I love history too. It's so interesting to learn and explore. I have learnt a lot of new things by watching these videos.
I want an ASMR channel with historic makeup looks and skincare routines. This is so relaxing.
These are my favorite type of video’s from this channel! Also the models eyes are gorgeous!
Your model has the most striking blue / green eyes! Lovely!
This video was so interesting! The model is really beautiful and the makeup looks great, its amazing how simple products can be so becoming. I hope to see more videos about historical makeup and hair!
I love those videos! It's so interesting how this whole make-up and style culture developed throughout the centuries
She looks STUNNING!!!!! I love the Victorian fashion!!!!
I love listening to Amber Butchard. The model is spectacularly beautiful before and after the makeup and the dress is so gorgeous!!!!
So lovely. Loved this period, as women able to dress beautifully, and show their own features.
Petition to bring back Victorian fashion. I try and wear as close to Victorian fashion as I can with a modern twist. I love it so much
