- Lollar Pickups Tele Special Pickups Demo -
In this video I switch out my existing pickups and replace them with the Lollar Pickups Tele Special.
Lollar Pickups sent me these after doing the interview with Jason. So I thought I would do a little play through demo as a few of you have been asking for it.

The difference is night and day to my ears. The Lollar pickups seem to have a lovely balance of sound and are way more sharp.
glad you can tell the difference. I was utterly blown away by these pickups. can't put the thing down haha
Brilliant review, you can really hear the difference too
Yeah. They sound even better in real life
Whaaaaat. That difference is insane. I know very little about guitar tech stuff but even I can really hear the difference 😊
sparkly right? enough twang for ya?
Wow! These pickups sound brilliant!
Indeed they do. Thanks
Got a set this week...AMAZING. Didn't think I could improve on my Fralin Blues Special.... Neck is fabulous....more open, fuller, louder...wonderful tone overall...
I had a similar experience. Fender american ultra luxe HSS FRose. The humbucker was unremarkable, and I decided to look at change options. I was looking at several PU makers, and came across Loller. I also noticed that their phone number was in my area code. I gave them a call, and told them my story. They recommended trying an imperial. They allowed me to come to the shop to pick it up it since I lived about 10 minutes away.. A half hour later, I was standing in their really cool facility located in a very nicely kept and very old building. Everyone was extremely nice. I chatted for a few minutes, and was on my way. An hour later, my pickup was installed. I closed up, re strung, and played. This was essentially a new, greatly improved guitar. I could not believe how much so. It sounded like what I had envisioned when I purchased the guitar new. In the year since, I have purchased 11 more Loller pickups. Strat, tele, sg, LPjr, and I'm not done yet. These have given my guitars a new life, and I can not stress how much of an improvement I experienced in every one of them. Now, I am spoiled. All of my guitars were the genuine item, now with incredible tone. Amazing hand made world class product. All hand labeled on the bottom, for less guess work.
Thanks for the message and I'm glad you found Lollars along with a similar experience to mine. They are really friendly and useful at the shop, always too happy to help. Not sure how I made it so many years without them!
I liked the original pickups. They sound warm and clean enjoyable. The new ones shout ayou and after 30 minutes you’ll have a headache. Your guitar sounded fantastic ! Don’t fix what ain’t broke !?👍
I just love my Lollar Special T set! Im thinking Lollar Royal T and J Street set next! :D
Nice! They are wonderful. What are Royal T and J Street going in?
Lollar makes the best pickups on earth in my opinion
For sure. Couldn't agree more.
I ordered some vintage 52s. I hope I'll be happy.
I'm sure you will be
Vintage T neck & Special T bridge for me and Ernie Ball strings. This combination works so well and I am getting another set soon. Oh by the way, it sounds not so nice with DR Strings though.
I've not tried the vintage set. I've never really got on with ernie ball strings. I used to use them but my sweat is just way too corrosive and they just dull really quickly. I generally use the elixir nanoweb 10-52 now and I really like the balance of tone and longevity. I've not tried the DR strings. I love the lollar special bridge, it's really clear but not harsh and balances well with the neck one. How do you find the balance of vintage T neck with the Special T bridge?
@@FretSuccessThey both are made for each other. Well balanced and volume as well.
@@adhaskym.a9536 nice!
What did you not like about these pickups with DR Strings? I tuned my Tele with these to C# standard and used some 11-50 Hi Beams to help try and keep the twang.
They sound bloody good!
I know. Ruddy ridonculous!!!!
These are the Special T right? Pricey! Are they worth the money over Seymour Duncan ones?
Yes they are. I have owned SD in the past and they were good but when I put these in it blew me away. So good!
@@FretSuccess Yep...my FGN Illiad has SD...nice....my Pro II has Tim Shaw, nicer, my CV50 has Fralin Blues Special, even MORE nice....my other CV50 has Lollar Special T...NICEST..AMAZING..FABULOUS!! Worth every penny!
Black Shuck!!! Sounds awesome man.
Gonna have to go and put that album on now 😅
Haha had to slip it in
Yeah sorry about that. Although, I'm so happy for you that you're putting that album on. The pickups sound even better in real life
Damm what the pickups height on those bad boys ??
6mm neck and 4mm bridge. seems to work well doesn't it?
Holy moly! Free pickups! Christmas comes early.
Indeed
Do you play 10s or 11s ? I am used to playing 9s but when I hear this I think maybe I should switch to 10s as it sounds so much stronger and beefier. Or am I getting this wrong?
I generally use 10-52 elixir nanowebs. The 10-52 are awesome for adding meat to your playing. A bit harder to bend but worth it. I would at least move to tens. 9s are easy to play but just sound thin to me after using at least 10s for years. I used 11s for a bit but became a bit tiring to bend for long and regular shows. Hope that helps. In my mind, try the 10s for a few months, see how you get on. You can always go back. Be sure to tweak the setup too.
@@FretSuccess Thanks for your answer. Yes I might consider it, because I like to play intricate chords and I am not a super duper solo bendy guy... I think I went with 9s years ago cause 2 of my idols use super flimsy strings (Brian May and Kim Thayil)!
@@eole123456789 In that case, go for it!
Tele > life itself
never heard more of a valid point!
Wait until you see the price of a set!!!
Yeah, they're up there. But the best tele pickup set I've heard. Well worth it
That’s why there’s reverb. I got a set of lollars for essentially 50% off.
