    Fantastic as usual. Thanks to you I have been learning more and more on my new Manta Ray SmoothStar. LOVE IT...I have a question related to the cutback. How do you do such a tight cutback , almost turn on a Dime, without falling ? Every time I try to do a sharp cut back , I end up "nose dive in" and falling ...Think of U , starting at the right of the "U" (2 o'clock here), I get the front wheel dive right at the 7 o'clock of the "U"...Any tips? Thank you ....Should I put more wait on the back foot? Right now I m more emphasizing the front foot for weight

    • @YeWLayton
      @YeWLayton  2 роки тому +2

      thank you! Stoked to hear you're learning from my vids and loving your Smoothstar! I'm guessing that would be subject to putting more weight on your front leg as you turn. Try doing wider more drawn out turns to start off with this might help. Also when you begin to turn think about doing a wheelie on you back wheels, but don't actually pop up onto your back wheels. You still want to keep that forward momentum while going through the turn, but doing this will help shift your weight more onto you back leg and help you drive through that turn with your back leg. Hope this helps! YEW!

    Looks great! Do you find the feeling actually translate to surfing, or not so much?

    • @YeWLayton
      @YeWLayton  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks! Yeah defiantly! I find you get a real sense of the correct movements that are required to to complete these manoeuvres out on a surfboard. You can really practice and get your mechanics right and the more you do it, the more you will notice it correspond with your surfing, especially if you can find a bit of a curb or ramp to skate on, it helps heaps.

    Here your tail doesn’t touch the ground as you turn?

    • @YeWLayton
      @YeWLayton  Рік тому +1

      I'm presuming you're referring to it doesn't scrape along the ground on the rebound? Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't - depends on the surface your skating and how hard you're hitting the rebound. e.g. I f want to really throw the tail on the rebound or get super vertical, my tail will most likely scrape the ground. If I'm more smooth with the rebound it probably wont. Whether the tail touches the ground or not, it won't impede on the functionality of the manoeuvre, it's just a different variation of the rebound section. Hope this helps YEW!
