    Thank you for trying this Julie, and for the mention 😊. As for the mold imprint, I have only had two of my viewers mention this so far, and only one came back to me saying that it definitely disappeared on their next pour but it could be due to the softness of your silicone. Keep us updated please, it is still in the experimenting phase, I have an alternative method which will protect any mold coming soon 😊

    Hi Julie, the reason that the hand cream may have damaged your mold is due to Many hand lotions and creams often use synthetic petrochemicals, artificial fragrances, harsh chemicals, the petrochemical causes a reaction with the silicon, your coasters/resin work is great and I have learnt so much from your videos, also I am glad to know that I can follow someone that is in Australia and works to our climate

  • @raquelromano5310
    @raquelromano5310 9 місяців тому +1

    I love it! The crystal edge mold really goes well with this technique. I also saw Daniel Cooper’s videos when he experimented with the lotion, and I really want to try it. Your video reinforces that.
    On a side note, glass etching cream is made up of chemicals such as sulphuric acid, so I’m not surprised it etched the mold. As someone else here commented, you can rescue your mold by pouring a thin layer of the same silicone on the bottom. It won’t be as deep, but there’s plenty you do that doesn’t require all that depth anyway.

  • @AuroraDragonDesigns
    @AuroraDragonDesigns 9 місяців тому +2

    You are a brave, brave woman. Glass etching cream contains sulfuric acid - that is likely what burned your silicone mold.
    I watched Daniel's videos using baby lotion, but I haven't tried it because I don't have any. I have been thinking of trying it with a different lotion - something I already have 😊. The results both of you have achieved are fabulous.

    *THAT is amazing,* Julie; putting that GLASS etching cream on silicone! Girl, you've invented something new!!! 😊💗👍 The hummingbird coaster turned out gorgeous! Oh, I hope you keep it and make more! I can see you filling the bird or any stencil with chameleon, mica, or metallic powders, then filling with clear or black! Yummy!
    I hope the baby lotion didn't permanently mark your beautiful mold, though. LOVE the clear edges on the "flutter-by" coaster. GORGEOUS! 😍💗😊
    I was 6 before my mom could convince me they were *butterflies*. I mean...they weren't pats of butter with wings, nor did they look *anything* like flies! 😅

    • @decadeofmcfly
      @decadeofmcfly 9 місяців тому +1

      If you try it.... Please please be aware of the fact that you are literally mixing chemicals if you put etching cream (which is sulfuric acid) into resin which is already literally a chemical reaction in silicone which again...... The fumes you are potentially exposing yourself too is just wild.

    • @fairyspunfibers9098

    What if you cut a round piece of cling wrap to sit in your mold before putting the stencil down w/baby lotion? That would give the bottom of your mold a barrier while saving the mold.
