- The 1992 Marvel Masterpieces by Joe Jusko got me into comics. The 93 set was a let down in comparison. This set has some legendary artists like Joe, Bill Sienkiewicz, Jim Steranko, and Julie Bell...but it wasn't the same as having a dedicated artist to the set like with Jusko.

93 was good, but the 92's were just amazing. I'd love to see videos covering the other sets
93 still had some great illustrators and amazing card art! Though, admittedly, not all the artists were up the task. Julie Bell, Brian Stelfreeze, Ray Lago, assorted Joe Jusko, etc for example, were the fantastic, standout artists! Though the random assortment of artists threw everyone off, this wouldn't be attempted again til the 95 artists....which would be down to 3 artists, such as Nelson, Scalon and Devries( from what I could remember). Also yes bro! Please do Marvel Masterpiece 94 with the Hildebrandt Brothers! A lot of their cards were friggin fantastic!!!!!!❤️
When I was kid, I had the 94 Marvel Masterpieces cards by Greg and Tim Hildebrandt.
'93 is the one that got me into Comics. I had the full set and lost it in my 20's, but I did pick up a set a year ago. Memory alley.

I have fond memories going to tons of different comic book shops trying to complete my set, got everything except 2 special edition cards. I thought the art was hit and miss but doing this with my friends was a lot of fun. Jusko was the best artist on this set 100%

This is dope. For me, in terms of card collecting, it was the 1993 Marvel Universe card series. Prior, I was most Spider-Man, X-Titles, and Captain America but the lore on the card set expanded my knowledge of the wider universe.
Mid 90s cards got me obsessed to, JULIE BELL is probabaly my favorite still image artist of all time, and it all started with marvel cards. I would love to own one of her original paintings from any of the sets. Additionally I became fans of Boris Vallejo and The Hildebrandt bros. I thank marvel for introducing me to such amazing artists as a child and solidifying a lot of core memories and influences 😍

I still have my set. I collected alot of comics and cards in the 90's glad i still have most of it
I remember my older bro got me a SICK marvel card collection and overtime I just lost it. Honestly my DBZ figures and that card collection, along with some techno songs, they're huge regrets from my childhood that I lost.

I became a huge Jusko fan as a kid reading Savage Sword Of Conan.
Joe’s cover art was amazing.
Just think, he stopped being an artist & became a NYC police officer.
Art was his true calling & he went back full time thankfully.
I met him a few times & he’s a super nice guy, not all comic creators are.
I’d say he can paint any character well but his Conan is top level.
Frank Frazetta paints a great Conan but Jusko’s version is the Ultimate Conan. ⚔️
For me, I was in 3rd grade when this set came out and I was obsessed. This Deadpool card was my first introduction to the character and he's been a favorite ever since. Def would love to see more card set breakdowns like this.

I’ve always dug the unique look of the backs of these cards! Sure, some of the artwork isn't quite my cup of tea-especially when I think about the stellar work Joe and the Hildebrandt brothers did with their 1992 and 1994 sets. Those were pure magic! Even so, this set has a special place in my heart. The quirks and charm of these backs totally hit that sweet spot, taking me back to the good ol' days. There's something irresistibly fun about them, and I can’t help but appreciate their nostalgic vibe.
I wasn’t having the best day today and then I watched this vid. It took my mind of everything and was just fun.

It was the 1991 Marvel Universe Series II set that introduced me to many of the characters. I loved how they had the stats on the back (strength, agility, etc.) I used to trade cards with other kids on the playground. We assigned value based on the stats; I think I traded a Galactus for a dozen cards lol.

I gotta see the 94 set! As a 6 yr old and loving the xmen TAS i only bought one pack when i went to the gas station with my dad. Didnt see them around or know about LCS at that time.
I kept a beat up Beasy card as my only card for many years. Finally got the whole set for $20 a few years ago

I’m completely with you. The 92 Masterpieces and the Marvel Universe series 3 completely hooked me on comics when I knew absolutely nothing about them!!

I still have a bunch of these in folders haha and I also have folders with ‘AHH DINOSAURS’, ‘Terminator 2’ ‘Batman’ ‘Jurassic Park’ & a bunch more bizarre sets!
For me , it was the Marvel Series 1 Trading Cards. Dear God, they are still cool to this day. Those and Series 2. I have a mint set of the first 3 series.
Totally agree. I loved the energy in the Bill Sienkiewicz pieces, but the whole set lacked the cohesiveness of the Jusko set.

Love these cards made. Definitely the Jusko ones really are the best from this set. I love the 94 set as well by the Hildebrandt brothers. Bust them out next bud.

93 MM cards were great... Love some of the artwork in these, however, what I'm disappointed with these are lacked of other characters like Professor X, Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Apocalypse, Galactus and other Spider-Man's villains (doc ock, green goblin, etc) especially other villains that appeared in Secret Wars (wreckers, Ultron, Kang, etc)
If you place the Human Torch, Captain America and Sub-Mariner next to each other it creates a connected image by Steranko. I think Marvel did not get the memo from Steranko on this as I think he was doing more of a Golden Age Torch rather than a Silver Age Torch as the bio describes on the back of the card
I used to have the complete MM 92 set just like u but it was stolen from me by this other kid at school. I was in the 7th grade. Shame on me for taking it to school in the first place. I still have the complete 93 set minus the X-Men 2099 chase cards. I think u should do more of these videos featuring the 94, 95, and so on. Love ur content man. Have a blessed day bro.

Love the Joe Jusko Marvel Masterpiece series. Was able to collect all the cards and have Mr. Jusko sign them. Lost this set and all the promo cards, chase cards and even comic store promotional poster all signed by Joe Jusko in a fire. 😞

I had a few of these cards back in the day, I remember the hulk and the wolverine and I just remember looking at the wolverine and wondering if they couldn't hire anyone or know how to paint or draw.

Consistency and uniformity were always appealing. If it was good art, the whole series was investable as a kid. Once they messed with that winning formula I was out.
As silly as it sounds, but you want to know what got me into comics? Captain Underpants. Elementary School. Later, my first REAL comic I've read was Batman Hush. I'm in my mid 20s now 😂😂😂

My first Marvel Masterpieces set was the ‘94 set done by Greg and Tim Hildebrand. Still one of my top sets. Would love for you to do a video on those Gem!
Nothing though, for me, beats the 94 Fleer X-men set though, that was my gateway drug into trading cards!

I met Jusko at a tiny con in pittsburgh and had him sign a couple cards in the early 90s. I think domino was one of them.
I met him for the first time last year at NYCC
I misremembered.. the cards I had him sign were the galactus card and then a promo card from the edgar rice boroughs series.

I remember thinking that Daredevil card was easily the worst in the set. That leg just looks really awkward and a lame pose/layout.

Yea seems that way. I think some were unused from the 92 set if I recall from the comics that showed them off.
