The desert is endlessly fascinating to me, especially this time of year when all of the plants start to put on their show. Looks like a cool spot you got to explore, thanks for bringing us along!

@@Keepinitwheel306 Nice! There was a good storm that just went through the southwest so the plants should be looking super happy next week. Monument Valley in Northern AZ. is pretty incredible in the spring too. Have fun wherever you end up going!

One thing that I've never understood is that when people do off roading and their car (or van) gets stuck they don't put on snow chains to give them loads more grip. Maybe snow and sand act a little differently by surely snow chains would give you much more grip in sand. So why don't people use snow chains when off roading...

Hi Lisa, I'm digging your videos. Just a tip, If your in the soft sand deflate your tires 50% it might save you from getting stuck. A nice powerful air compressor is handy for airing back up. See you at San O! Wally
Thanks Wally! I did deflate them, took footage but it ended up on the cutting room floor. Between my wheelchair, bike, and van…my air compressor gets plenty of use haha
I'm glad you included the part where you debated whether to continue or not. We're not always so sure of ourselfs and overcoming our doubts becomes valuable lessons. That was inspiring, and glad you kept going!
I’ve certainly tested the AWD. As long as you keep some speed up, it’s handled some tough stuff! The time I got stuck it’s because I was backing into a camping spot and it became too soft. Then I had zero traction to go forward from there. Lesson learned!
@@Keepinitwheel306 when you accept the worst case like you had processed through then you are free to accept the reward. Knowing that its really not as traumatic as it seems makes it doable! I would explore! Plus its part of adventure it seems…calculated risk perhaps. Thank you!

I think I get bored if I don’t have at least one heart racing event each week 😂 The sand was a pain for sure…I almost debated leaving the drone since it was likely broken but I didn’t want to litter.
I wonder if chains for your tires would get you out of soft sand areas? A DIY traction aid idea is 2 - 4' long (2"×8"? as wide, or wider than your tires) boards (or plywood) with asphalt roofing shingles nailed to one (or both) side(s) - with a wedge/ ramp cut on one edge (to shove under your tire) ; then if you couldn't retrieve them - you're not loosing much $$, if you had to leave them behind. 👍
Love your videos… really did feel for you trying to get across sand, sand and gravel are a wheelchairs nightmare 😂 but gotta be done sometimes - usually done only on my back wheels x

Hello Lisa. I just saw you on Chromes channel and came to subscribe and say hi 👋🏻 I noticed you are from Moose Jaw. I am from Sask also (about 100kms south). I am glad you are going south for the winter (there to long and too cold here in Sask lol. Wish you all the best, and I am looking forward to watching your videos. Safe travels 👍🏻
I've been catching up maybe 4 or 5 days now, and I was looking at the terrain and I think I would have made the same decision to go ahead with my van (I've tucked it into quite a few interesting places in the desert (Sonoran). But I also thought I would have probably gotten out and walked up a ways first, but then again sometimes spontaneity gets the best of me, lol. Nice call though, I was cheering for you and it was an even more gutsy call to go after your drone. Littering IS a big problem 😱 🙂so very glad you got there and got back. As the grandmotherly type, I hope you waited a bit to see if someone else would come by, you could flag down... but there's a risk in everything, isn't there🤔 sometimes there's a discovery that leads to a very pleasant surprise! Freedom to choose is the key! Regardless, loved the video and thanks for sharing 🙌... I've enjoyed seeing your numbers increase every time I watch a catch up video. Makes me smile. Hugs
That’s the risk with having a mobility issue like mine - I’m unable to walk ahead and scout out a road or bike trail when terrain is soft or steep. I’ve somehow survived this long! Apparently, I didn’t learn my lesson and I put my drone up again and it ended up on some rocks so I did have to flag a hiker down to grab it for me 😂😂
LOL, I love it... If we ever meet up we'll have to share misadventures over the years, lol. I haven't learned my lesson either and expect I never will. I'm often solo on the road too, because most of my friends can't get out and about or are "unwilling to." I don't think the "unwilling to" will ever happen to you 🙂. Hugs
Once again, a great episode! I'm curious if being in the desert presents problems for you in terms of body temperature regulation. Don't answer if you don't feel comfortable doing so.

I’d love something more capable but that also might get me into some trouble because I tend to really push the boundaries 😝 I’m content with the Transit overall.
