Richard Carpenter (Karen Carpenter’s brother) was so impressed with Ksenia’s (the girl singing) performance that he personally invited her to dinner with he and his wife, at his home.
Leonid is a Russian music producer he loves 70s music. Much of the songs he did he couldn't find the original score sheets.so, he sat down and transcribe the music by ear and then gave it to the band to record.
You may not realize it, but they are Russian. They got popular doing Chicago covers. Sadly one of their singers was Ukranian, and when the war broke out, he dropped out of the band. Leonid is the one playing the bass. They come and tour in the states quite often.
Girl you be yourself you do a fantastic job you're an articulate speaker and it's beautiful listening to you have keep up your great work forget what anybody else says about you
Their cover of Chicago's "(I've Been) Searching So Long" is, IMHO, their best. The instrumentals are top-level ( Ksenia B. is part of the background vocals, & looks super-fine, as always.)
Definitely do more reactions of this group. They are Russian and most of them barely speak English Leonid (Lee-oh-nid) is the bass player, they have covers of a lot of Chicago songs, EW&F.
Yes. Leonid ( pronounced like its spelt, with the final vowel like the "I " in lid ) is the base player that transcribes the music, puts together the band, and does the mixing. I used to watch a lot of Leonid and Friends two years ago. Less now, but now that so many reaction videos view them I'm watching them again, very happily. They've toured over here even fairly recently. That's curious because Russia and the US are not exactly on good terms any longer. So glad they've managed to rise above that. I know they have many ardent fans in the US. Cultural boycotts blow!
This group formed in Russia, an originally they did it at their own expense. They got together because they love the music so much that they felt compelled to cover it. It is truly a labor of love.
Leonid and Friends is such a rabbit hole. Their covers are so close to if not better than the originals. Not bad for a Russian band. As always , I enjoyed your reaction.
It always amazes me how note perfect their covers are. Other than a slight difference in vocal, (and she was pretty close), this could be the original!
I been subscribed to Leonid and Friends for about seven years. Folks there is a documentary on Leonid and Friends. A good watch. Amazing minds at work here.
Your authenticity is why you're my favorite reactor!❤ The background music was better than the original, but to me, no one sings it better than Karen Carpenter!
I grew up with this song, but I hadn't seen this cover before. Now that you reacted to it, I gotta admit that this singer's voice on this sounds even better than Karen's original, but I don't know if the newer tech has anything to do with it.
I'm trying to get down to the US for their next tour. I generally hate cover bands, but this is the cover band of all cover bands. I agree with a previous comment. The Chicago covers are amazing, as are the EW&F covers. Unmatched.
You done So Many great reactions but this isnt one of them. Too many stops only to have comments that didnt add anything to the experience. I do enjoy your reactions tremendously and I'm going the distance with you. Thx 🎸🎤🎹♥️
Great reaction! When they started to tour the US one of the band members (think the sax player) said that he’s heard thousands of guys asking Ksenia if she would marry them! She is beautiful and extremely multi-talented and speaks/sings seven languages. You should watch her show she performed in Vegas a couple years ago while playing the piano! I believe it was a fundraiser for disabled children or something like that.
You should read up on Leonid and Friends... they're all Russians and Leonid grew up listing to American music from the 70's... when he retired, he started this group to recreate his favorite songs... there wasn't any sheet music... he had to reproduce it. They now Tour the US... mostly playing Chicago music.
Yes, when you did react to the Carpenters' version, you recognized it from hearing Luther Vandross' version that you knew before. As I recall, you didn't know that Luther's version was the later recording. This rendition was intended to be a tribute to Karen Carpenter and to be as exact a reproduction as possible, which is harder than just doing a different arrangement. She nailed it. Leonid and Friends do magnificent covers, most famously of the great songs of Chicago. Again, there is a great talent required to come so close to the original. They've toured all over the U.S. in recent years. Others here have given more about Leonid and the singer here, Ksenia.
Yes, u reacted the same re Luther then too bc I just happened across it last week 😉 hey I'm on my 50s & knew Luther's & possibly Elton??? But not Carpenters 🫣til not too many yrs ago😔
Suggest checking out ksenia buzina's (she's the vocalist for this ensemble) cover of brian mcknight's song Never Felt This Way. Thank you for reacting to Leonid & Friends😢
Hey Britt I think you might need some tissue with those reaction from Tyler Childers - long violent history followed by a message from Tyler explaining his song all in one video it’s moving and you would love it and might need a concealer catcher lol
You said it was Slither and were surprised to learn that his wad a cover of Karens. This girl is using much he same music SD Karen dif. She had a nice voice, but she is no Karen Carprrnter, who remains my all time favorite female vocalist.
This is hands down the best cover of this song ever done. I love your reactions, but this one is bad, sorry. Leonid and Friends is the best Chicago cover band ever, but through this in. I expect more.
Ksenia can speak over 7 languages. She's been with Leonid and Friends from the start. You need to watch their covers of Chicago. They are stellar.
Richard Carpenter (Karen Carpenter’s brother) was so impressed with Ksenia’s (the girl singing) performance that he personally invited her to dinner with he and his wife, at his home.
Leonid and friends are one of the best cover bands around. Their Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire covers are unbelievable.
This is, note-for-note, the original arrangement as recorded by the Carpenters.
Leonid & Friends are amazing and Ksenia is so beautiful
Leonid and Friends are incredible!....
Leonid is a Russian music producer he loves 70s music. Much of the songs he did he couldn't find the original score sheets.so, he sat down and transcribe the music by ear and then gave it to the band to record.
This band is the best cover out there, Just unbelievable. You have not seen anything yet.
I tend to call them a tribute band
Great cover band !
Any recommendations?
@@brittreacts Yes, these are covers of Chicago. I'm a Man, Beginnings, Color my World. The band also does great covers of Earth, Wind & Fire 🔥
You may not realize it, but they are Russian. They got popular doing Chicago covers. Sadly one of their singers was Ukranian, and when the war broke out, he dropped out of the band. Leonid is the one playing the bass. They come and tour in the states quite often.
Her voice is beautiful...❤❤
I’m all about bringing the 70’s music back by anyone willing to give it a go
Leonid and Friends, including Ksenia, are currently on their fall tour of America.
Leonid is the bass player and leader of the band.
Superstar was first done by Delaney and Bonnie. Bonnie write it with Leon Russell. Check out some of the hits by Delaney and Bonnie.
Now, if you really want to get blown away by Leonid and Friends, watch them do Earth Wind and Fire’s Fantasy.
Girl you be yourself you do a fantastic job you're an articulate speaker and it's beautiful listening to you have keep up your great work forget what anybody else says about you

I'll check it out!

Ain't nobody same singer you must hear britt you're my favorite reactor thanks

You need to check out their songs they have. Steely Dan, Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago. Etc….
This group is perfection.
This group formed in Russia, an originally they did it at their own expense. They got together because they love the music so much that they felt compelled to cover it. It is truly a labor of love.

I’ve seen them many times in concert. In fact working backstage with them in a few weeks. Great band and all are super nice.
🤝👍❤
You need to go down the rabbit hole of Leonid & Friends, you won't be disappointed
I been subscribed to Leonid and Friends for about seven years. Folks there is a documentary on Leonid and Friends. A good watch. Amazing minds at work here.
I saw a video where one of the singers from EW&F heard one of their covers and said, “I thought it was us!”
When she first started singing, I thought it was Karen Carpenter. It wasn't until the chores came I realized it wasn't Karen. Amazing!! 👏👏👏
Your authenticity is why you're my favorite reactor!❤ The background music was better than the original, but to me, no one sings it better than Karen Carpenter!
You're the best!
Leon Russell & Bonnie Bramlett wrote this
Please check out "Fantasy" by Leonid and Friends. This band is amazing. Thank you for the review.
Added!

Yes, its an oboe ❤
This wasn’t what I was expecting at all, but it’s very good! First time I’ve ever heard them.
I’m going to see L&F at the end of September. Can’t wait! Most famous for their Chicago covers.
Well, you've done it again. Two gorgeous women in this video...................
Anything I've seen From Leonid and Friends, is incredible!! You have to take to look into what they are absolutely incredible!!
You done So Many great reactions but this isnt one of them. Too many stops only to have comments that didnt add anything to the experience.
I do enjoy your reactions tremendously and I'm going the distance with you. Thx 🎸🎤🎹♥️
Listening to you about Steve Perry yesterday, we walked through our darkness.. ❤
Great reaction! When they started to tour the US one of the band members (think the sax player) said that he’s heard thousands of guys asking Ksenia if she would marry them! Always love your reactions. Take care, keep smiling and God Bless you 🙏
Yes you did.

yep you did react to the carpenters superstar and had the same reaction i loved it then and now :) xoxoxo
All the cover songs by Leonid & Friends are amazing. My favorite is their cover of Deep Purple's "Stormbringer". It is better than the original.
You can close your eyes & you think it's Karen Carpenter singing. She had the most amazing voice. RiP Karen .
Yes it's Luther Vandross. I forgot he covered this song. He was typical LV on this song. And Luther's cover was called Superstar. Just ooozed romance
Yes, when you did react to the Carpenters' version, you recognized it from hearing Luther Vandross' version that you knew before. It is the Carpenters original song. Luther did it after them.
Thanks for this Britt! RIP Karen
Nice cover, but there is only one Karen Carpenter. This woman has a Beautiful voice though.
Thanks for listening
Luthers version still makes me cry
Yes, u reacted the same re Luther then too bc I just happened across it last week 😉 hey I'm on my 50s & knew Luther's & possibly Elton??? But not Carpenters 🫣til not too many yrs ago😔
Check out Luther Vandross cover of this song.
Luther's cover of this song was named, wait for it, "Superstar"
Luther called his version Superstar The Live at Wembley was his best performance imho.
Yes, you reacted the same way, but last time it wasn't until the chorus. Quicker this time ;-)
Okay, now you have to listen to her, Ksenia, sing the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction."
You Need to React to Atlantic Starr. Always
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Follow up on this group. You won’t be sorry!!
Suggest checking out ksenia buzina's (she's the vocalist for this ensemble) cover of brian mcknight's song Never Felt This Way. Thank you for reacting to Leonid & Friends😢
Leonid is on the Bass
Hey Britt I think you might need some tissue with those reaction from Tyler Childers - long violent history followed by a message from Tyler explaining his song all in one video it’s moving and you would love it and might need a concealer catcher lol
More Leonid & Friends.
Best cover band is Foxes and Fossils. Any song any genre, the BEST!!
Dont get me wrong these guys are A+ also.
F&F are cute but not pros.
Better
You are really obsessed with Luther Vandross
Leon Russell wrote this song and performed it, as did Rita Coolidge.
Ksenia sings in 5 languages and she's from Siberia
If anyone can ever figure out how to clone Kesina,
I’m getting in line……
What about that "give my love to rose" by Johnny Cash that you said you would check out?
What? No saxophones in heaven? That’s absurd because saxophones and dogs are heavenly.
And they are Russians and currently touring in the USA.
Pronounced Lee-o-nid.
Karen Carpenter has a richer voice but this vocalist is great too
I THINK it's a clarinet, no? Obo is a little deeper isn't it??
You said it was Slither and were surprised to learn that his wad a cover of Karens. This girl is using much he same music SD Karen dif. She had a nice voice, but she is no Karen Carprrnter, who remains my all time favorite female vocalist.
I don’t think you need to distort the video
First
This is hands down the best cover of this song ever done. I love your reactions, but this one is bad, sorry. Leonid and Friends is the best Chicago cover band ever, but through this in. I expect more.
Ksenia Buzina SOLO ua-cam.com/video/XFnN277BIE0/v-deo.html
Luther did it the best.
I'm glad you don't have "information" in your brain. 😊
Sorry can’t listen to this, ruining the music
