The thing about Karen, is that she made you feel the lyrics that she was singing, and she could touch your soul with her voice. She is considered the best female singer, by many, and that's from the last 40 years, when she left us, at age 32.

Often sad when she sings, but always a big smile on her face when playing the drums which she was very good at. Seems like everyone uses the same three letter word when hearing Karens voice. WOW! Especially when hearing it for the first time. Richard and Karen were both very talented. They and their band mates blessed us with some wonderful and timeless music. Hope you do more! Thank you for your reaction. Please also react to their song, "We've Only Just Begun" - thank you. :) - There was actually sadness in her life. The song was about a 'Superstar' musician that came to town - and they had a time together. Well, since the guy was on tour - he had to go. Apparently, she really fell in love with the guy. The guy probably did not feel the same way - so it is a sad song. Karen's life though did have sadness. :(

@@Nighthawk-mc6zd Yes, I do agree with what you said. She was happy and even funny too, and displayed that.
The reason she died prematurely was due to the result of starving herself; and if you do the research, you will see why I said she had sadness in her life. Outwardly, a person might not pick up on that. One of the guys she dated mentioned that she had very low self esteem. In other words, she did not think of herself very highly. Again, just do some in depth research - and you might find out what I am talking about. Aside from that, she was and is my favorite; and she stands alone in that area for me.😊

  • @guidosarducci

This song is about a young (perhaps teenage) girl who fell in love with a singer she heard on the radio..."it's just the radio". For some reason, she took the lyrics of the song to heart and believed every word. Back then, it was an easy thing to do for both girls and boys. It amounted to having a "crush" on a performer, even though we all knew it would never amount to anything.

Although she and her brother performed some 'cover' songs, Richard wrote some very good songs, too.

What's also amazing is that, for as incredible a vocalist she is, she is an even better drummer! Honestly - check some earlier videos of her behind the kit, and you'll see another effortless talent!
Her brother, Richard, is a great pianist and composer. Talent abound in that family!!

They signed contract with A&M Records on April 1969. 6 months later, they debut in their first studio album: Ticket To Ride. Sadly, Karen passed away on February 4, 1983 from heart failure due to complications of anorexia Nervosa. Hope this info could find helpful. If you need more info about the Carpenters, let me know.

When the Carpenters heard the song it was 1970. Richard Carpenter watched Bette Midler perform the cover on The Tonight Show. The Carpenters cover of “Superstar” became the most famous version of the song. Yet, the duo had to change a certain lyric to fit their clean image. Richard Carpenter had switched “And I can hardly wait to sleep with you again” to “And I can hardly wait to be with you again”. Richard received a Grammy nomination for “Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist” due to his work on “Superstar.”
Karen Carpenter had nailed the first recording of “Superstar” in one take. Richard Carpenter had scribbled the lyrics on a napkin and she nailed it.

Your conversation throughout this reaction was wonderful! Your wife is so accurate on this subject. I was in love with Jon BonJovi and just knew somehow we would end up together! 😅😊😂

This was a Delaney and Bonnie Bramlet song (originally called groupie). Of course Karen has made it her song now with her beautiful voice.

omg-I so get it. I had David Cassidy posters all over and I kissed him. Such an innocent perfect introduction to a young girls heart.

Karen had the voice of an angel. She passed away from anorexia way too young, before anyone really knew what it was. It was so sad. The Carpenters are definitely someone you should check out more. I love how silly you are today! God Bless!🐢🇺🇸

Karen was incredible and for 40 years I thought I'd never hear that pure voice again but then I heard Tori Holub on UA-cam singing The Carpenters' hit Merry Christmas, Darling and you would swear that Karen has been reincarnated as a blonde!!

Thanks guys, The Carpenters had many hits in the 70's. Rainy Days and Monday's and Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft is another one that can always do with a good reaction from nice people like yourselves.

Karen left us way too soon. What a beautiful voice, yet so haunting considering her short life.

My 1st time visiting your channel.Thanx for doing some Carpenters. From what i've checked you are more rock/prog rock oriented(?) in your reaction activity so doing some Carpenters was a fine decision.

IMHO, Karen had the best Female vocals Ever! I wish so badly that Aurora would do this cover of Superstar. I think she would knock it out of the park! RIP Karen, never forgotten!

For most fans of the Carpenters, this or Rainy Days and Mondays are considered their best song. But they did have a long string of hits.
