Magic happens when you do things for the love of it, not for money and/or fame. Nine years ago, Leonid gave himself a present of recording and documenting the recording of a Chicago song with his musician friends when he retired from the recording studio where he worked as an engineer for 25 years. The video went viral, so he made more videos, just for the love of it. Chris, in the United States (you can see him at the merch table at their shows) brought Leonid & Friends to the US for their first tour and has been with them ever since. Everyone loves what they're doing. I've experienced L&F 3 times in the last year. Though their tour schedule is insane, this band is having fun and bringing much-needed joy to the people in every city they play. I haven't seen a band play with this much heart since, perhaps, seeing Chicago at the Hollywood Bowl in September, 1970. Leonid and Roman (Leonid's son and band emcee) visited my recording studio last night (Theta Sound Studio in Burbank, California). It was great to hang with them, trade stories, and hear each other's music (you have GOT to hear/see L&F's original co-written masterpiece, "Speck of Dust"!). I also let Leonid check out my 1964 Fender Jazz Bass. Leonid and I are both musicians, engineers, arrangers and producers, so we have a lot in common as far as our roots and skillset. And Roman is the coolest son who also happens to manage the band. L&F are true rock stars who are also amazing role models for anyone looking to know what it takes to be the best...
Have watched LEONID & FRIENDS for years now ..... Stratele Studios with Jeff about a year or so ..... Both are great ... also great is The Gal in this video ... not just her incredible voice - she is is stunning to view as well ! God bless, you all, jj
What an absolute treat! I just found out that The State Theatre is Kalamazoo, Michigan is closing soon. 😢 I hope there is another venue in midwestern Michigan you can find for next fall. I am committed to coming to see you all everytime you're close enough to me. I'm STILL buzzing off the September 20th concert I treated myself to for my 60th birthday! You all are just that good!
I guarantee you, you’ve heard Richard Carpenters songwriting if you’ve watched any of the major one hour TV series in the 80s and 90s. He composed the theme music to many TV shows.
