  • Back when Group B was still around, Group S was planned to be brought in in 1988 to replace the Group. A lot of manufacturers began building prototypes to comply with these new regulations, and even when Group S was abolished along with its older brother, the prototypes remained. Today, we'll take a look at the rest of the prototypes I didn't cover in the last video.
    0:00 - Intro
    0:46 - Mazda RX7 S
    2:32 - Seat Ibiza Bimotor
    4:40 - Opel Kadett E 4S
    6:34 - Lada Samara S-Proto
    8:29 - Peugeot Quasar
    10:02 - Outro
    Part 1: • The Group S Cars (Part 1)

Hey! Hope you enjoyed the second part of this mini-series, I had a blast making them! I just want to let you know my work pace is likely going to slow down over the next few months. I will still be working on videos, but I have to make sure I keep up with other things like school, my final exams are just 6 months away! Once again, thank you all for the support, it has been amazing! Ciao!

Huh the peugeot quasar reminded me of another prototype from 1988 the Oxia concept car.
In terms of race cars that did race out of peugout's cars
over the years id say the peugout 905 le mans is pretty spectacular a
naturally aspirated 3.5 litre v10, probably one of the best sounding le
mans cars too this day still.
Saw it first in trackmania carpark here.(pc racing game series, worth a look imo.)(trackmania nations forever is free for example & worth checking out too waste some time in on a slow day imo, kind of has a career mode where you beat times on premade tracks against others times & you can make your own tracks too!.)
(One of the cooler map types that doesn't require any effort too drive in are press forward maps. (lots of em on youtube.)
(As the name suggests, it's press forward only on those maps.)
This map took 2 years too build, one too place all track pieces, one year too calculate all shadows
      ua-cam.com/video/uK7Y7zyP_SY/v-deo.html
Another press forward map that is apparently intentionally super glitchy with the physics but really is something you have too see.

Lada Eva, the B group prototype, was mainly and mostly developed by lithuanian rally racers in their garages. It was not considered an official Lada project until group S became announced. Only three original Lada Eva`s were made. I will try to back up my claim with sources, but that might take some time. Still nice to see it mentioned here

Well the list of Group-B to merge in Group-S secret cars was a bit longer than what is mentioned in this part 2 : Mitsubishi also modify a Starion 4WD for Group-S in full testings.. along with Porsche 959 S (that won latter Dakar) and FSO 2500 Strato-Polonez 4WD.. Nissan also made a mid-engine 4WD prototype that old rumors spoken it was intended to enter WRC Group-S but not sure why got ditched Nissan Mid4 II, other old 84-85 WRC clips show BMW - M1, they did few races in last 2 years of WRC Group-B most famous courses only on dry & paved tarmac stages and intended to fully enter entire season WRC in Group-S along with another exotic name Ferrari who got the 308 GT/M for WRC raced just same like M1-PROcar few times in Group-B but one italian auto-magazine had an article about more serious intentions of Ferrari announcing to enter next with the 288 GTO EVO prototype in WRC Group-S.. after the Group-B banning the 288 GTO EVO prototype was intensively used as testing-muhle and helped Ferrari workers to build the legendary F-40..

The engine in the Ibiza wasn't built by Porsche, it was mostly Seat designed with advice from Porsche in return for putting "System Porsche" on the rocker covers.
I had a MK1 Ibiza 1.5 with the same engine but I put the turbo from a Starlet Glanza on mine, unfortunately an accidental money shift (looking for 4th, found 2nd) sent it to the scrapheap. Fun car, weighed about 700kg once stripped and with the extra power it went like a rocket, torque steered like a pig but quite well balanced off throttle.

    • @creepingjesus5106
      @creepingjesus5106 4 роки тому

It wasn't, believe it or not. It was a development of the existing Ascona/Cavalier/Calibra 4wd system. The story at the time, was that management didn't want to go head to head with the Escort Cosworth, preferring an Autobahn stormer instead. 250bhp was the target, hence the F26 gearbox and beefed up shafts. The 5 stud PCD was unique to those, incidentally.
In development, they found out the torque steer at 250bhp was dangerous (reputedly, one of the development Calibras was totalled in an incident caused by torque steer), so it was pegged back to the 215bhp they appeared with.
Given that they weren't the lightest cars, the performance wasn't as hot as it should've been, sadly.

This seems to be a load of rubbish, to me. The Astra GTE was never Group B, I'm pretty sure it was Group A, same with the RX7 etc. The nearest to Group S was with Rallycross, the likes of the RS200 evo, and modified 6R4's etc.

No disrespect, but the project around the Seat Bimotor seems like a very dumb idea! And even with two engines they were still underpowered lol.
They should thank FIA for banning the Group-S, otherwise they would become the joke of that category 😂
