JESUS 1000$ is idiotic, it would solve nothing, only increase inflation more. UNDERSTAND Dollar would be devalued and economy would go in turmoil, this program he wants to implement cost trillions, it would only cause incredible inflation , what happened in COVID, his logic and argumentation is wrong. His solution is idiotic.
and worst of all you only drive inflation and cost, and you do not help people that lost their job, because with 1000$ a month you can not live , you can not endure a month and have a life with 1000$. They way Alaska’s system was set up, they have a “top four” open primary in which any number of candidates can run and all voters can choose a single candidate from that list regardless of party affiliation. The four candidates who receive the most votes will advance to the general election. Then in the general election, voters rank the four candidates in order of preference. After the ballots are collected, in the first round only their first choices are counted. If a candidate recieves more than 50% of the votes, the win; otherwise the candidate receiving the _fewest_ votes in that round are eliminated. (This can be detrimental if they were the 2nd choice of voters who preferred a candidate who is not the ultimate winner - see Alaska’s 2022 congressional election. This is known as the “spoiler effect”.) In the next round voters whose preferred candidate was eliminated have their next choice counted (unless they didn’t list any other choice, in which case their ballot is “exhausted”), and it repeats until one of the remaining candidates has a majority of the remaining votes. Another of the caveats in RCV is that if a voter gives two candidates the same rank, or if they skip a rank (e.g. ranking candidates as 1, 2, and 5), their ballot is discarded as invalid.
Universal Basic Assets are what's needed. Human well-being needs to be the currency of the day. No more of this "scarcity mentality" must be allowed to persist in society! All of us wealthy, hard-working people are capable of figuring out how to stay on top with a little more elbow grease, so we need to stop acting so scared of having to exercise the very virtues we espouse in the name of lifting our fellow-man into the same standard of living we enjoy. If we see people enduring circumstances that would be unacceptable to us (hint: this should help us define "basic" with regards to Universal Basic Assets), we need to use our ingenuity and dogged hard work to solve this problem and let the chips fall where they may. Universal Basic Assets for humanity. Such a no brainer!
VAT is ok but the best thing is a automatic flat tax and if you have a Ubi on blockchain with proof of work issued on a government issue debit card that can't be reloaded by the user you can make it completely tax-free for the end user because it's basic income as long as they spend it on the card that it's issued on it remains tax-free but if they pull out cash then cash is taxed and that way no one's going to want to pull out cash they would rather just use it on the card which incentivizes a basic level cash free economy. This system makes a automatic flat tax possible.
2 quick takeaways: - 13:01 “the relation between popular will and policy is essentially non-existent at this point” well put problem statement. My fear would be all the lobbyists and interest groups will see ranked based voting as a threat and subsequently fight tooth and nail against it. - 42:43 the data/AI tax really need to be looked at again. Reddit is the latest to sell its data (aka OUR data) to OpenAI (financial details withheld).
They already fight against ranked choice voting, but we voted it in for my city (sorry, county) and we are voting for it for federal and statewide elections in November 🤞
UBI will work if the payouts are enough. Initially there should be a payout of up to 20k which could get everyone into a house/apt and purchase a car and get them out of debt. Then with 3-5k per month would give the economy a boost it has never seen. Making education free is the next step and requiring everyone to get at least a 2 year education within a 10 year period. By starting this now we could see what jobs are left and this could give direction to the AI/AGI/robotic companies for building what we need.
@@matsal3211 even if Yang had done nothing for progressives, that would still be a million times better than bernie andd the rest of the fake socialist/fake progressive political complex that occupies the space to stop any real progressive from getting any traction. As for calling for resticting aid to Israel, that has nothing to do with being progressive. But it does reek of spineless pandering to idiots.
The UBI model already exists. It's the same as seasonal unemployment. I am in a stagehand union in Washington State, where some weeks we have little to no work, and other weeks where if you can and want 80 hours, it's there too. But during the winter we have leaner weeks more often. So through our state unemployment models, we can report our hours weekly, and they establish a baseline based on your average hours worked going back a certain amount of time like when you go on standard unemployment. If you earn more than your weekly baseline average as established, you receive nothing because you were "lucky" enough to have had a sufficient amount of work. But if you have a lean week by no fault of your own, you were available and wanted work but none was available and you don't want to switch jobs or employers, then you receive your baseline average. This is done on a weekly basis. It's a great safety net for those who qualify. This is how we sell it to those who see UBI as "rewarding lazy people", we tell them that it's based on your work history.
If it's based on something then it's not universal and basic. That does sound like a helpful thing to have though. I'm just trying to point out that it's not truly UBI
@@hunterandersen5360 Agreed. That's why it's a model, and it will be easier to sell if it's based on work, at least to begin with. Maybe everyone's hours and pay can somehow be worked out to establish a baseline that everyone can exist on. We still need regulation on housing and health care, and to stop monopolies and force competition for needs such as food, internet, and travel
Makes sense to me. Eventually, we will all be unemployed, but it will take a while to get over the prevailing mindset of a person being a bum if they aren't working.
my favorite part was when the Kennedy supporter was showing that it takes effort to effect change and being willing to do something about it #Kennedy24
Andrew's a lot more cynical about society's prospects in this festival than he usually is with other appearances. I agree with him we are in a world of trouble with inflation, higher interest rates, and massive debt. He's right that we'll enter a 'time of troubles' for the next decade. We should have avoided lots of the nonsense COVID spending and just issued stimmy checks. I'd vote for Yang as president in a heartbeat; he'd be a great leader, though most of the US is too far mentally gone to appreciate Yang's potential.
Saying getting money out of politics sounds good but it's just like saying getting money out of healthcare it sounds good on the surface but actual implementation is damn near impossible...
This child tax credit thing is crap you really just need to focus on a Ubi based off the total automated production percentage of the GDP that way you can get large corporations to help fund the lobbying that needs to be done to push this forward to save the corporations from total failure due to the consumer Market collapsing because of jobs being deleted and thus value to contribute to the economy of the people being deleted so therefore the people have no money to spend and the corporations go under...
UBI is a nice dream but seems impossible. If made big enough to be useful, how do you pay for it? I mean a $1000/month bonus would certainly be a big help for me, all by itself it wouldn't keep me alive and well. If we have to print money to pay UBI it would kill us
The US has a population of about 333⅓ million. Providing $1000/month to every citizen would cost $4 trillion annually. The estimated GDP of the US is around $25½ trillion (as of 2022) so this would amount to just under 16% of the GDP. We’d likely need to raise additional taxes (esp. on corporate profits) but also bear in mind this could replace a lot of existing social benefits programs like welfare and Social Security, so we shouldn’t need to raise too much more than current levels. I’m sure the Congressional Budget Office can come up with exact figures.
the solve the most pressing problems of the country . we need to elect leaders that have americas interest at heart . not the worlds interest . we need a better class of servants
Someone by the name of Scott Galloway critiqued you on your naming of UBI, you should call Negative Income Tax. If you are in NEED of something like that then you would not be taxed and if you qualify then you could go further by applying a "Negative Income Tax". I'm will to bet if you labeled it as your not being taxed you are taxing the goverment that would probably fly in the areas in the US that have a problem with the idea of " Free income".
You know this whole thing is spoken like it's almost against the Ubi it's almost like Andrew Yang is completely given up on actually forming a logical form of universal basic income...
Why only universal *BASIC* income? Supply is created by demand and when workers are out of work, they have no money so there’s no demand. Why on earth would any capitalist in their right mind want to limit demand??? We shouldnt be talking about basic income. We should be talking about high income!
@@laukmedina 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Thnks. I’m not an Elon Musk fan, but Elon says this as well. And I’d go even a step further. IF robots replace all labor, we will have to question, by what right should anyone be allowed to privatize and own the robot companies? Why should they be allowed - without working - to reap the profits created by society’s demands and therefore be wealthier than society at large? And like all companies, they’ll be incentivized to make the cheapest possible robots (like ur dishwasher and toaster and iPhone that always needs to be replaced - which is highly inefficient) because the consumer’s loss is the sellers profit. We will have to democratically own the robot supply. Then money becomes obsolete! Then there would be no reason to make cheap robots that break because that wouldnt earn a profit for anyone and that would be the least efficient use of our resources. Most people don’t realize that IF AI takes over all labor we will have to democratize the economy. Or better stated- money will be obsolete and there will no longer be an economy, and what takes its place must be democracy because if it isn’t, it will be dictatorship/oligopoly.
UBI is a nice idea, but how would it be implemented successfully? If UBI is introduced too soon, many workers may quit their jobs. This would cause a shortage in supplies. If we wait until robots are put into place to implement UBI, many workers will be terminated without another job to go to. This would lead to a drastic reduction of tax paying citizens and would reduce consumers on a drastic scale. I think we are starting to deal with this already. On top of all of this we have a national debt thats getting worse in this administration. Another question that I think we are all grappling with is this: What level of income would we all recieve? Would it be enough to purchase a house? Would there be enough to purchase an automobile? Would there be enough left over to buy food, clothing, school, pay insurance fees, cover HOA fees and so much more? If we built robots to build robots 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, how many years would it take to replace all the workers in our society? Lots of questions and not enough answers for a plan to be formed concerning UBI at this point. As its going right now, things are not so good on the consumer side and its just a matter of short time until the selling side of the economy. How far can we go until even the AI robotic companies are destroyed? And finally, what happens when the government controls your income and they dont approve of what you say? Freedom of speech could come under attack by government. Ive heard that this is how communism took over China, and we US citizens value our freedom of speech, although sensorship has crept in in the last few decades.
That's why it would be great if they would focus a large portion of AI compute on solving the energy problem. That would drop prices dramatically. Also, housing and healthcare. Probably won't happen though. As far as free speech goes, I'd like to limit the free speech of politicians and the media. If they are caught intentionally lying to or misleading people, they should get severe punishment. A huge part of our problems are a direct result of being lied to by those who choose to be the authority on this like information.
Freedom Dividend... Premium Rate for Citizens, Lower for Nationals, lower for Perm. Residents, even lower for others (ITIN holders, etc...) But only after the deficit is corrected and the debt is paid off.
Right, let's at least get that done before moving onto full UBI. ✖️ Sound, lawful currency (gold standard) ✖️ Auditing the Federal Reserve and IRS and every major branch of the government. ✖️ Cap ALL income taxes to 10% TOTAL ✖️ Cutting the spending of each by 1-5% each year until we are no longer in a deficit. ✖️ Single Issue Bills ✖️ Required Extended Reading Periods of all Legislation By All Voters ✖️ No rolling minimum budgets. ✖️ Term limits across the board. 20-25 years maximum for all government jobs. ✖️ Optional Social Security Funding ✖️ Optional FISA Taxes ✖️ School Choice Nationwide ✖️ Optional Gov Healthcare (Both Ways) ✖️ End the Failed War on Drugs ✖️ End the Failed War on Terror Wouldn't make sense to issue dividends or income until all of these problems are addressed and fixed.
I wish public speakers would stop presenting answers in rhetorical question form, its a tedious way to share information...He's right though, if you create a desperate environment it creates desperate people who do desperate things, give people the basics of modern life and watch most problems simply evaporate with some unexpected benefits like happy people wandering around...What a novel idea. Entrenched power and money will never let a ubi happen any other way other than force which means a whole lot of ugly before things get better.
Next year,?there is always next year!Congress lost values, principles I am not a politician but have positive progressive better concepts I'd like to be heard

“Crashing the Party “ by Ralph Nader about his 2000 campaign and the obstacles he faced in such a corrupt system
Yang bucks 😂
2 quick takeaways:
- 13:01 “the relation between popular will and policy is essentially non-existent at this point” well put problem statement.
@@tracy419 great to hear that progress is being made! Keep up the fight!
I'm a msw student and my husband is a michigan state representative. How can I get involved?
Where have you been?
UBI will give disappointing results without huge investments in mental health
UBI will work if the payouts are enough. Initially there should be a payout of up to 20k which could get everyone into a house/apt and purchase a car and get them out of debt. Then with 3-5k per month would give the economy a boost it has never seen. Making education free is the next step and requiring everyone to get at least a 2 year education within a 10 year period. By starting this now we could see what jobs are left and this could give direction to the AI/AGI/robotic companies for building what we need.
Dam I wish this dude was running for the presidency…..
Ubi should start with the oldest first!

“Universal” means _everyone_
@@trevinbeattie4888 I just said where it should start, whiper snapper. Get back to work.
Nooo, y’all get literally everything
Bernie tankies will say "hE dRoPpeD ubi FrOm hiS pLatForM hE's a gRiFtEr" and that's y I dropped any support I had for bernie sanders.
yup. Bernie has grifted the progressive movement while stopping it for long enough
Agreed!
@@schloops8473 What are you on about? he called for restricting aid to Israel. what is Andrew Yang done for Progressive? nothing
Do you guys actually think the world can get better, or is it always going to feel scummy like this?
I would love for all these Andrew Yang people to call Sam Sedar on the majority report and get wrecked by him.
my favorite part was when the Kennedy supporter was showing that it takes effort to effect change and being willing to do something about it #Kennedy24
Can you talk to Peter Zeihan?
Andrew's a lot more cynical about society's prospects in this festival than he usually is with other appearances.
I agree with him we are in a world of trouble with inflation, higher interest rates, and massive debt.
He's right that we'll enter a 'time of troubles' for the next decade. We should have avoided lots of the nonsense COVID spending and just issued stimmy checks.
I'd vote for Yang as president in a heartbeat; he'd be a great leader, though most of the US is too far mentally gone to appreciate Yang's potential.
I thought today is Sunday 😂
UBI = end of world
So the American problem is affordable housing with lenient financing..
Say 250$ a month for a prefab home like boxabl ..
UBI will be a disaster
What happens when 50% of human labor is not needed?
Both
Saying getting money out of politics sounds good but it's just like saying getting money out of healthcare it sounds good on the surface but actual implementation is damn near impossible...
This is theeeee comment ! That is totally accurate!
Ubi please; I want my marginable stocks to go up
UBI is a nice idea, but how would it be implemented successfully?
What censorship?
Great… more taxes
Negative Income Tax* Mr. Yang I’m a huge fan but NIT is definitely a better nomenclature than UBI.
Freedom Dividend... Premium Rate for Citizens, Lower for Nationals, lower for Perm. Residents, even lower for others (ITIN holders, etc...) But only after the deficit is corrected and the debt is paid off.
A propelled economy with proper tax policy would naturally get rid of the debt over time
Right, let's at least get that done before moving onto full UBI.
✖️ Sound, lawful currency (gold standard)
✖️ Auditing the Federal Reserve and IRS and every major branch of the government.
✖️ Cap ALL income taxes to 10% TOTAL
✖️ Cutting the spending of each by 1-5% each year until we are no longer in a deficit.
✖️ Single Issue Bills
✖️ Required Extended Reading Periods of all Legislation By All Voters
✖️ No rolling minimum budgets.
✖️ Term limits across the board. 20-25 years maximum for all government jobs.
✖️ Optional Social Security Funding
✖️ Optional FISA Taxes
✖️ School Choice Nationwide
✖️ Optional Gov Healthcare (Both Ways)
✖️ End the Failed War on Drugs
✖️ End the Failed War on Terror
Wouldn't make sense to issue dividends or income until all of these problems are addressed and fixed.
Just curb the MIC and redirect the funding.
The path was already identified. See Chairman Mao.
How is this going to work? california is doing it by raising wages. Look at inflation in CA right now.
Confusing
You can impose a land tax and add a transaction fee on all these hedge fund guys.
Paul Harvey - "If I were the devil" 1965

Isn't everybody receiving a dividend and having a vote on how systems are operated effectively distributed ownership?
