Imho it’s the other way around. Believe in science as long as it disproves intelligent design and creation by God. The moment it proves using the same scientific principles it becomes pseudoscience
A better translation of the passage where John saw the cloths lying and believed, is that he saw the cloths lying flat. As in the body dematerialized and the cloths fell flat in place. That would cause anyone to believe in the ressurection. If the body had been stolen the coths would be taken with the body or cast aside in a pile. But why would anyone do THAT? So...John believed in the ressurection...because hes not stupid.
Good point. Jewish law required that post-mortem blood issues be interned with the corpse, and that was one of the purposes of a burial shroud. It is not tenable to believe that disciples could carry away a 170 lb. body, and not be able to remove three lbs. of essential blood-stained cloth.
"That would cause anyone to believe in the ressurection." - I heard that argument before but was wondering: the very next sentence John says "for as yet they did not understand the scripture, that he must rise from the dead." (John 20:9). So claiming that "John believed in the resurrection" is kind of wrong, because John himself says it was not the resurrection and he deemed it very necessary to add this little comment. He could just as well have ended directly with "Then the disciples returned to their homes." (John 20,10). Do you have any thoughts?
“As yet they did not understand that they must rise from the dead” means that up to that moment, the moment they saw the cloths, that had not fully understood what Jesus had told them, that He must rise from the dead. Resurrection was not something they could visualize or conceive. Seeing the cloth lying flat, undisturbed, exactly as it was laid, but with the body missing, was what made them understand exactly what Jesus meant when He said He would rise from the dead.

This is a heavil biased presentation by a Sindonologist. There many objective and pure science based lectures which leave it up to the listener to decide.

The Gospels clearly relate that Joseph A. bought a clean linen shroud for Jesus' burial. Linen strips may also have been involved. So what?
Yes, the translations will vary. Also, there was a face covering that was found seperate, folded. Together they could be considered strips of linen. No mystery there.
The Jerusalem translation says “linen cloths” so we should check the original Greek. There were strips of cloth that were tied around the shroud to hold the shroud on.

There is blood in the Shroud. Ron Wyatt said he had discovered the blood of Jesus and said to be with only 24 chromosomes.
Did they crosscheck the both blood samples? if they did, what is the result? DNA result too. Just curious.

If he had published any of his findings in a reputable peer reviewed journal, then perhaps your assertion might have some validity.

The Romans had no set law by how many times someone could be hit during scourging.. also what was depicted in Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ that whip was called the Scorpion because of the metal ends that were flat but had small hooks on the ends better. Anyone sentenced to crucifixion was not beaten with that because they would die from that beating Mel Gibson has said he wanted the maximum effect of that scene that is why they chose to whip with the Scorpion. Because that would fill you completely open now the Jews of the first century did have a limit of 39 strikes with a whip on a victim who is being punished for violating the law.
Someone who is able to do research like this needs to go back n find the names of a few who were given gifts of threads from the edge of the shroud by the Savoys back in the 1500's. Track who the current owners are of those well documetned threads and get them carbon dated.
That will not help. The Shroud's C-14 content has been greatly enhanced by a first century neutron radiation event, so those Savoy threads would show a similar date to that obtained in 1988.

This is Jehovah's Witnesses theology. It is falsified by the evidence on the Holy Shroud, which is why the JWs publish a tract that attacks its authenticity.
I just looked it up it Encyclopedia Brittanica. Talks about about cruxificion, important form of capital punushment in Rome from 600 BC to 300's AD. Cross beam and an upright stake. Do you have a reference?
