    review:
The Tucktec is a single-person folding kayak with a 300-pound capacity. It's made of high-density polyethylene thermoplastic with side rails of marine-grade, high-density closed-cell foam. It features a tracking fin that can be raised out of the water and it folds into itself for storage.
The fin on the Tucktec is impressively long, can be raised out of the water from your seat, and does a good job keeping you moving in the right direction. The hard exterior of this craft also helps it to glide through the water with minimal drag, though the gaping slot on the front of the bow is less elegant. As a fairly wide kayak for its length, the Tucktec provides decent balance, with a thick seat that gives you a higher vantage point than the average kayak.
I did not have any issues with setting up the kayak. After the initial fold from brand new. The second time was so much easier. Seems very durable!
Well, yes, Tucktec is among the best kayak brands when it comes to making folding kayaks. Their models are some of the lightest around and, most importantly, they take the least amount of time to set up when preparing to paddle and break down when packing up to head home.
They also pride themselves on the durability of their folding kayaks. All folding kayaks are only rated for a certain number of folds (usually in the thousands) in their lifetimes, and Tucktec produces a kayak that consistently ranks as one of the longest-lasting models in this space.
    They Require Minimal Storage Space
Another factor that can be tough for some people that are interested in getting into kayaking is where to store your kayak when you are not using it. If you live in a larger home with plenty of property, you will probably have no trouble storing a rigid kayak in your garage, under your deck, or in an outdoor storage shed.
    Fold Rating
Last, but certainly not least, you should also pay attention to the number of times a folding kayak is rated to be folded and, subsequently, unfolded. In many ways, this will tell you a lot about the durability and expected longevity of the kayak.
Most of the best folding kayaks are rated for thousands of folds. Even if you kayaked every day, that would translate to 3-5 years of use at an absolute minimum.
More importantly than the differentiation between 5,000 and 10,000 folds, however, is whether or not the brand mentions the fold rating for its kayaks at all. If they fail to do so, this is a good reason to shy away from their folding kayak models.
Now let’s talk about the features that make Tucktec folding kayaks unique. For starters, the wide design features a flat hull that provides great stability for beginners and also for those interested in kayak fishing.
At the stern, you will be able to take advantage of a retractable tracking fin to help you navigate high winds and stronger ocean currents. On top of the deck, you will find bow and stern handles that make it easier to carry your Tucktec with a partner or gently drag it across a sandy beach by yourself.
Inside the cockpit, the adjustable seat includes a high back that provides extra lumbar support for longer paddles. An adjustable footrest also allows Tucktec folding kayaks to accommodate paddlers of varying heights and helps you maintain a more upright and engaged paddling position.
Along the edges of the cockpit, marine-grade foam sponsons provide a cushion for your knees and thighs while you are paddling. They also prevent scrapes or uncomfortable contact with the kayak itself when entering and exiting the cockpit.
The cockpit itself is quite roomy and provides ample legroom for larger paddlers.

The idea of draining a swamped craft by inverting it on top of the stern of an afloat craft is brilliant. Just having that idea as an arrow in my quiver gives me a lot more confidence for future voyages. Thanks so much for the tip. And the Trabant looks like a barrel of fun; they were all the talk when the wall came down BITD. But if you REALLY want to push the portability, try it in an old beater bicycle trailer; I actually did my maiden voyage on mine by taking it to a local creek by bike. It was perfect.

this is brilliant thanks Eric. I'll have to try to exit and enter that way close to shore. That's a very clever technique to empty it.

Yes, my understanding they only producted 188,000 per year. You ordered one when you were 18 and it was delivered when you turned 35. Few remain today! Felt lucky to ride in a unigue car. I like my Tucktec as well. Great Kayaks!

Awesome video little dude! I just bought mine and was looking for how-to videos and yours came up. I'm a newbie and have limited storage space so this is perfect. You did a great job articulating the pros/cons and showing the example of how it floats even if submerged. That was my fair and you showed it very well and quelled my anxieties about that.

Awesome video! First time I’ve seen a demo this detailed about this kayak. I’m getting one next week so this is sweet! I’m surprised u actually got back into one in the water. Unfortunately if u have gear with u I would think it’s harder tho.

If you decide on the tucktec. I'm sure you'll be happy. It really is versatile! All kayaks have similar issues of getting back into. The only real difference is speed. Touring kayaks are faster but much more expensive and require much more gear (racks). Most Sit-on kayaks are slower or equal. Good luck on your decision. You'll probably end up with both types if your an avid paddler. Serves two different purposes. Thank you for your kind comments.

Love my Tucktec. Thanks for the video, people don't believe that it doesn't sink. 🤷‍♀️ I bet you've played swamp and unswamp the canoe races in the scouts. I did when I was a kid and have loved kayaking and canoeing ever since. I'm old now, so Tucktec is super convenient for me. (I bought a different seat).

Not sure, I've never used one before. Probably not in rivers due to safety (getting tangled). Maybe for a lake.
