Excellent video! Thanks very much. I'm so close to buying a Boto, to add to my Tucktec collection. FYI, the 2024 Tucktec is now 20 pounds. Now I need one of those too.😂 I'm addicted.
You sold me! I ordered both models that way I can go with a friend while at home and I can take the Boto on solo camping trips. I'm excited! I also ordered the Coleman stadium seat :)
Another teacher here! I just took my Boto out for the first time. I thought the seat was really comfortable. Easy to put together and even though I forgot to put in the skeg, it didn’t steer too badly. Funny enough, I don’t think anyone would ever take this out of my car because it when it folds up, it looks like a science, fair board, lol When you travel, have you found a bag that you can store the kayak in?
Congrats on your kayak! We travel with an RV pulled by a van. There is a place in back of the van where the kayak stands perfectly so I don't really need a bag. I think some people use some sort of gold bag with theirs.
You are very welcome. Sharon fishes out of hers, so she bought a 2024 that weighs 20 pounds. She felt the Boto didn't carry as much stuff as she wants while she fishes.
Have you ever tried the self inflating life vests? I haven't yet but they look a lot less bulky! But if it's more reassuring to have the foam style, I understand that.
Good question. I briefly looked into them, but from what I learned these cheap ones have a higher Coast Guard rating because of no cartridge to expire. Compared to the "kayak" style pfds, these are more likely to right you if you are unconscious in the water, and on those hot summer days these allow for more airflow. Thanks for watching
I'm 5' tall and weigh under 110 pounds, so naturally, I'm interested in a kayak I can easily transport so that I'm more likely to use it. My question is: Does it glide or coast on the water as you paddle, or must you paddle continuously? I've only gone kayaking once in a borrowed, generic, molded kayak. The experience was great fun, and I loved it, but I could not gain any momentum in the kayak. It was either keep paddling or come to a stop.
@@epyscrivano3145 It depends on several things. If the stream or river has a current, it will take you down river. Of course, when you are ready to return to where you launched, you will need to paddle. Also, if there's a breeze, it will move you back in the water.
Really cool to see, I bought my tuck tech last summer 2023, and just this morning I opened it up for the first time to take it out this weekend. Trying to assemble it the first time 🥵😮💨 whew hard work, that last clip i couldn't get it was too tight, waiting to let it loosen up in the heat a bit. Any suggestions for breaking it in?
I got mine in Nov so I had to use space heaters to help. Once assembled I left it setup for a few days. When I folded it up I immediately set it up again and left it for a day and repeated the process a couple of times. That seemed to help.
I just received my boto yesterday. Can’t wait to take it out! I’m so glad you mentioned the stadium seat. I assembled my kayak, sat in it and immediately hated it 😅 got my boto for $200 + shipping. $50 off. Check for those coupons!
Thanks for watching. To me it felt as though they handled the same on the water. The heavy duty is made out of more sturdy plastic and has more room. The 24 HDs weigh 20 lbs. If you are getting it just to paddle, the BOTO is a great lightweight option. If you want to fish or carry a dog etc., the HD gives more room.
Do I get a paddle for being the 100th like lol.. Anywho ... great review between the two foldables to the point and all the info you need... TY and safe travels out there...
Hey ladies love your videos, my sister is also a retired teacher. I have a question about the original tucktec. When getting out of it are the sides sturdy enough that you can push down on them to assist you in getting out?
Thanks for watching... the 24 version has some reinforcement. Most of the time I use mine for fishing and have a milk crate behind my seat. I use that to help me get out.
Honestly, for fishing I think you would be much happier with the heavy duty. You will have more room and the 24s only weigh 20 lbs. If you change your mind and the BOTO hasn't shipped yet I would guess they could apply the money toward the heavyduty, or you could try it and if it doesn't work they would refund your money less shipping.
@@TwoTiredTeachers I’m trying to refund now, I tried contacting them thru the phone but they didn’t answer so i sent them a email, I bought it less than 12 hours ago so hopefully they refund the full amount. Thanks a lot

It's easy to love TuckTec products. I truly think the Boto will be easier to have when we're traveling.
They're 26 lbs per the website
@@paulrojina From the Tucktec website:
KAYAK SPECS
FOLDED SIZE: 48" X 15" X 8"
ASSEMBLED LENGTH: 10' FEET
ASSEMBLED WIDTH: 30" INCHES
KAYAK FOLDED WEIGHT: 20 lbs.
CAPACITY: 300 lbs.
Then it says on the same page, in the photos that it's 26. Guess the only way to tell is get a scale.
@@paulrojina I'm positive that the 2024s weigh 20 pounds. Sharon has one.
So helpful and thorough, thank you.

They sure pack up nice and small, don't they? Thanks for the review! Very cool little kayaks.
I would chose the HD-orange version. I'm big and strong - I like the larger size and some of the other features.
They do pack up nicely, and the 10 pound weight is great for Sharon.

Botó in Hawaiian. Google it lol I won’t ever be in a Botó, but maybe it’s good for some 😂
I recently bought one and it hasn’t shipped yet does anyone know how long it takes to arrive
It depends if it's in stock or not. The kayak took about a week, but the Boto took about a month because they were on backorder.
Good Episode ❤
Thank you so much.
Is the boto more sturdy than the heavy duty or do they ride the same?

Will either float if tipped over? If yes, would you be able to get the water out and do a reentry without swimming back to shore?
Thanks for watching. Thankfully I have never had to find out, however, there are some videos on UA-cam that show self rescue with Tucktecs.
