If your brave enough to stand next to an enormous horse, do some research. Horses are known as fight or flight animals, if they're feeling unhappy it doesn't take much. The emergency services should be aware of the horses. The horse, became upset on hearing the siren, and remained so for a long period. Would it really delay them if they turned them off passing the horses.
It is ashame that people who may have saved for years can't enjoy Horse Guards fully cause of these protesters. While I understand their passion and sympathize . The Protesting is better done by going to the Israel Embassy and making your point there.
If you are closing the gates get on with it people still being allowed through even though when the officers started they were far enough to stop, it's also embarrassing to see the peeling paint behind the horses. It’s not what written on the flag, but that any flag is likely to alarm the horses. These are not police trained horses, Police horses are trained to not react (as much as possible) to flag wavers, sudden noises, etc. Thus all flags, raised umbrellas, hats ontop of walking sticks and other unusual tour guide raised identifiers are not permitted near these horses.
