I Saluut these guy's for their Tolerance with the public. To be a guard watching Quietly on horseback or standing can be extremely hard. Specially if you can go and drink water if thirsty. or you felt a ich or something. You just had to stay. Lucky they brought water for the horse the other day..

They are on duty in the box for an hour then changed over so water is not an issue in winter in a hot summer they will bring water out for both horse and Trooper . So Reggie is a gelding Venus a mare , they are bought at around 3/4 years old then carefully trained once they pass training names are suggested by the Troopers and a favourite chosen , using the alphabet for each pass out , next letter is Z , so Reggie will be around 9/10and Venus about 7 .

When I visited Israel many years ago now, our group respected both the Jewish traditions (of which there are many) and the Muslim traditions. We would never have done anything to offend or disrespect their cultures. As a Canadian I have travelled many places and have never disrespected their military, the police force, their people, their customs and cultures. I am guest in their home and behave as such.

A staff member intervened and point blank asked her why she would do that and then e planned that the guard is a soldier here to serve the country NOT her.

Honestly, if I was there, I would March up to them and give them a tongue lashing the likes of which they never experienced before. She seemed to think she could run the place, bossed everyone about, and spent a long time lecturing a poor chicksman because he had yelled at a kid to get out of his way. @@margaretha1967 sure felt like she was there for several months, but it was really only 2-3! She wasn’t actually arrested, but she was eventually told to leave and not return. So far she’s done as she was told and stayed away. (That was after the boxmen decided on a common strategy and simply pulled the horses away from her when she went to touch them.) Things are certainly more staid now, around Horseguards.
They are acting so entitled they’ve been standing by that guard for a very long time and then, when people want to take their pictures, they start taking pictures. It’s a disgrace I think if they were in America here people would express themselves in a way that would get their point across, but they know that the British are known for their manners and grace and patience
When I was a little girl (too many years ago) my father who worked very hard all year would take a day off during the week and take me up to London for a day out - we always walked the same route from Victoria Station, past Buckingham Palace, up the Mall, through Horse Guards Parade to see the Guards and Horses before going onto Downing Street, and then off to various museums - it was never this busy, no armed police but "city men" in Bowler hats carrying umbrellas and I loved every visit...whilst we sometimes took photos of the Horses and Guards and the parks, we never thought once about taking selfies (and never be rude to the guards!) - after all these years I only need to look at a map or close my eyes to remember those special days with my dad .xxx Watching this also makes me remember those wonderful days and the beauty that is london x

As someone of Jewish ancestry I’m ashamed by the group’s behaviour and attitude towards the Horseguards. I remember my Great Grandmother who was a very strict Jew, children were seen and not heard and we had to be on our best behaviour and manners. No way were we ever allowed to behave like those kids.
I met a lovely Jewish family last year, they were taking their 3 little boys to the beach , I showed them which bus to get , it happened to be the bus I get home ! I sat and talked to them on the way , the boys were obviously excited but beautifully behaved said thank you to me and the driver . They were a pleasure to meet I hope they had a wonderful day out .

As an American who has traveled and lived in Europe, I am SOOOO offended on behalf of the King's Guard and the Horse Guards who must put up with rude, entitled, badly behaved visitors from both Britain and beyond. They are reflections on both their parents and their culture, and I include US folks who behave badly when visiting any other culture/country. In all honesty, as much as I admire the history and culture of England, I really think it would be wise to strictly limit crowds or, better yet, to stop allowing visitors to be so close to the Guards for both the good of the soldiers and of the horses. Tourism generates money for the host country, but is the degrading of history and culture plus the stress to the horses worth it?

FALLOUT: Yes,,Hasidics do volunteer to serve in the military, hundreds of orthodox men have volunteered for the IDF. The difference is it's not mandatory, as it is with other Israelis fit for duty. Yet they are in both the military leadership and lower ranks in the IDF, by the hundreds. Do some research before you stereotype. Their taunting of these guards, however, is an entirely different issue. I've seen other people who also have visibility, also be reprimanded, like Chinese members of the communist osrty who misbehave in much the same way, etc. All of us need to be clear and careful about what we say, and what our motivations are regarding tourists who act inappropriately, whether they've git high visibility or not. I've seen some comments here that border on something of questionable, selective reasoning. I'm thinking hard about it too.

That's the problem, thanks to Disney copying their uniforms many think that is exactly what they are, actors portraying soldiers and not real at all. It makes me wonder what the Disney employees (in the US as I've heard behaviour at EuroDisney is much better) have to put up with.

I worked at the Imperial War Museum Duxford for some years and these people would often visit in huge groups. They were rude, arrogant, argumentative, and disrespected both the exhibits and staff at the museum. I personally have no time or respect for them exhibiting this unacceptable behaviour whilst in our country.

My kids never disrespected the Guards, but mine is a military family.

Before anyone starts clutching their pearls and claiming anyone is being anti-Semitic they need to ask themselves why it’s always Hasidic Jews who are appallingly disrespectful to the guards. They should remember that many of them wouldn’t be around at all if it wasn’t for the heroism of the Life Guards in 1945.
The other group are just as disrespectful. But kids never learn respect if the adults just let them do whatever they want cos it’s easier to just stand around nattering rather than so their job and ensure their kids behave. They looked appalled that the police had to intervene and do their job for them. What would they have done if the guard had knocked that little one over cos she’d got under his feet.
Some seem to think it’s a theme park not a working military facility and the guards, while they may be wearing their ceremonial uniforms, are active front line troops. It’s about time that was made clear to tourists before then set foot on MOD premises.

I’ve never seen any members of this religion myself but I have seen them on various YT videos and cannot recall even one situation where they haven’t been rude, mocking and/or disrespectful to others! I know next to nothing about their faith teachings but I DO know disciples who are taught to behave this way to the rest of humanity are simply not Godly. God teaches love and to not be mocking or judgmental and to accept others.

I agree with you 100% It's always the same "group" be it different people, who blatantly disrespect the guards. I really would have expected better behavior from them but that goes to show you judging a book by its cover can leave you shaking your head. And the kids, obviously they have not had any discipline. I'm appalled at the lack of respect in our society, in the world for that matter. Sorry for ranting but I'm the daughter of a WWII Marine and I can't tolerate disrespect of veterans or military. I rewound a couple of times John, I noticed that as soon as the guard started to march out of the arch, the elder of the children and one of the adults actually told the children and shoved them quickly making sure the kids would start marching alongside the guard. The police did the right thing. Those parents are a disgrace to their country/community etc. Absolutely disgusting disgraceful behaviour by the parents, who obviously don’t care about their children. Social services should be taking an interest in them if they live here. They could be, dare I say it, from a C ult.

ARTHUR: They're exempt legally... but if you did some actual journalistic research, facts instead of inaccurate online hearsay, you'd find out that hundreds of these orthodox men have already volunteered for the IDF and are serving both in military leadership roles and as soldiers, both risking their lives in battle like all the other soldiers. They felt it was appropriate and necessary to do so, despite their religious beliefs. So you're incorrect: not "all take the exemption."' Far from it, a pretty decent percentage of this small religious minority have taken the oath and are serving. And that's fact, not social media gossip. These visitors are rude because they're rude idiots, not because of their religion, and we shouldn't be building a stereotype or a hate case against an entire nation or religion based upon these visitors.
