  • In this video we walk you through the entire process of our dream pantry makeover. We remove our old pantry shelving and install new upper and lower cabinets that we build ourselves. We also add electrical to the pantry to install a microwave on the butcher block countertop. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or send us a message over on Instagram.

A paint booth would definitely be a plus! We do make a makeshift one in the garage when it gets too bad. Hang plastic from the ceiling etc. It's not my favorite but it works! 😊

You tell 'em! Just finishing the rebuild of our home after fire (a loose wire in the attic.....) destroyed the 150 yo farmhouse we lived in. You DON"T want to do that, trust me! Be faithful to check the connections on your outlets and switches, especially in out of the way places like the attic and basement.

I love the butcher block grain and stain color you chose. Do you know what type of wood it is? I’m refinishing a dining table and the grain looks almost identical but I have no idea what species of wood it is. Thank you

Ours is a birch Butcher Block from Hardwood Reflections. We stained it in Minwax Provincial. 😊

Did you learn these skills as you went or had you experience in construction and woodworking?

    • @DebtFreeDIY

I (Jeremy) grew up around lumber and running tools and equipment etc because my dad had a sawmill but I actually didn't start developing anything from a true woodworking/DIY standpoint until I started building furniture about 10 years ago. I do telecom for a power company for a day job and have a degree in electrical electronics so that's where I got the knowledge for electrical. And then of course none of this would be possible without help from Jess and her vision and eye for design. Before I met her I was using milk crates for a TV stand... 🤣 🤣 🤣

Great if you need an office but bad if you want a pantry to store food

    • @DebtFreeDIY

😂 Riiight... Since we live here and use the space every day I'm confident I'm qualified to say the following... Before we had 4 L-shaped shelves and now there's 3 in the upper cabinets. We almost created the same space that we had before in those cabinets alone. Then we add the lowers with the wrap around countertop which is essentially another shelf in itself. Then the 2 additional lower shelves on the bottom. Not to mention, we now have 4 large drawers that are way more useable and look way better. So yeah, completely disagree. By the way, that's not all the food we store in there... we had everything structured to look pretty for the b-roll shots on the shelves. 90% of our meals are cooked at home and we have zero issues with food storage.
