My take on Michael ( I’ve never met but want to) is he is trying to help the hobby and make a little money breeding fish! He is brutally honest and a lot of people can’t handle it, if you can pay attention you will learn a lot!
Michael ...I listened and I swear to God It felt like you were talking my life. I kept fish as a kid and left the hobby and recently everything in my life was just going to hell in a hand basket. My marriage was crap, my job was crap and I didnt want to deal with anybody. Then I found yours and Corys videos.... I have since resumed the hobby and everything has gotten better. My home life, my marriage, my job all took a turn for the better because of videos like yours. Your inspirational man. I am starting my first guppy pond because of you and your videos.....thank you for helping me find my way out of the darkness! And yes ...my guppies will be coming from you!!! God Bless you and your Family!
Thanks for sharing your story. I know this video is 2 years old. So my unsolocted advice might be very outdated. However, I got gastic sleeve surgery and lost 100lbs. It was the best decision I ever made. It was much easier than I imagined.
I love this video. I did the same thing. I cleaned my fish to death. Several times. The internet changed EVERYTHING for me! Mostly the cycle thing. And doing water changes. People like YOU are the reason that I'm now a very proud keeper of 4 tanks from a 20 gallon to a 125. I am so grateful!!! Thank you!!!!! All my fish are happy and thriving! If only I could go back and do it all over again and do right by all those poor fish I killed.
Keep being you. I didn’t realize until you spoke about your history that I was there later in the beginning which was a while ago. I remember you being on a UA-cam (won’t mention names) about breeding angels. Actually that is what pulled me towards you and what you were doing. This mishap brought us together to form a friendship. Love you Michael and thank you for opening up and being honest so others can hopefully see the awesome/caring/helpful man that I see.
Thanks for sharing your story with us. Glad you beat your heart attack and are doing better. Have you had your healthy snack and a beverage? Hmmm? Just teasin'. 😃🙏
Michael your best video yet. I got hooked in the hobby when I was 11 with a 10 gallon aquarium and some guppy’s been keeping fish ever since on and off for the past 45 years.
It's helped with my depression. I lost interested in about everything and for some reason these little guys bring me joy. Thanks for your honest Mike it really is apprenticed. Hope to order some mutt guppies.soon ❤
I'm so glad you're doing better these days... heart attacks aren't fun! My husband had a couple and while i quit serving grains and refined oils and fats, and almost every processed food on the planet. He'd still buy potato chips. Well, he was a grown man and i didn't tell him what to do. I just did my part. I noticed that quitting all grains, even for me, was a huge improvement. My arthritis and back problems are almost non-existent anymore. Believe me, they were terrible. Blood glucose is great too. But this isn't supposed to be about me (oops sorry lol) ... just wanted you to know i can relate in some ways. Your fish room is just wonderful and it seems like you're pleased with it, which is what matters. I discovered you in my travels on UA-cam and i watch your videos. I enjoy them and you're real about everything! It's fun watching your channel. I only have a 30 gal and a 14 gal cube aquarium -- i am not purchasing fish online or any more fish at all.. Michael, great video, glad I caught it. Normally I find myself watching your channel and waiting for your humor and sarcasm to kick in. I love it! Especially the "I'm ok" after your coughs lol! I am slowly trying to get my channel up and broadcasting. I have a humble fish room of 13 tanks only, but I love being in there. I think it's the zen I feel through the work of keeping it and maintaining it. So I understand how it helps you with your anger issues. Thank you for being real, and being one of few inspirations for me in this hobby. I appreciate what you shared in this video and your story. Very cool brother. I understand stand the anger more than most would. I lived a very violent life. Always loved fish and kids though.... All animals actually. In 2013 my anger had me looking at 15-life. I beat the charge and decided it was time for a life change. Dealt with mental health till just recently. I've always wanted to breed fish and plants. I find it very relaxing.
Hey fish dude, I know this video came out awhile ago but I'm seeing it for the first time. You would be surprised as to how many similar points we share.Had my first tank at 10yrs ....not a healthy home life the peacefulness of the fish helped. I'm looking to put some tanks together for $$ just locally to sell . I'm impressed with your openness that I'm sure hit a note with many like myself. Keep up your good work that's educational & entertaining!!!! I'll be looking for that " Powered by Salad " shirt soon ....lol
I follow Cory religiously but I can never understand why he says he doesn't really know anyone selling guppies beside Twin City (and their zero inventory for ever). . . The big difference between Cory and Michael is Cory is Mr. Politically correct and politely tells you your product is less than wonderful. Michael just gives it to you straight and with minimal frills. What both men share is that they are both very self deprecating and share their mistakes with vigor to prevent you making the same mistake. It is very refreshing and both men want the hobby to be the best that it can be and make sharing the information fun and interesting. Cant beat that!
@@MichaelsFishRoom I'm glad. I was pretty surprised a couple weeks ago on a live stream when he said he didn't know any. Didn't make any sense that he wouldn't know of a product ambassador but then his plate is scary full. . .

Keep up the great work! You’re the best!
Really enjoyed the back story, I am breeding and selling fish as well starting a couple of years ago at 55 years old and its the best thing I've ever done mentally and physically. Keep it up Michael we need people like you up in front.
Started fishkeeping randomly during lockdown #1 last year with a tiny tank and no idea what i was in for. Eventually through my trials and tripulations I stumbled across your youtube page. I've gone from strength to strength since then. Picking up some great tips and most importantly a greater overall appreciation for the hobby. :) Thanks Mike and long may this UA-cam page live on!

Personally I loved the video and am happy for you and how far you've come. Coming from someone that has heart issues myself, keep taking care of yourself. I thought about all the bad things I could say about Michael, then I thought about all the good things I could say about Michael; so all I’ll say is this: if Michael makes a video, I watch it.
Thanks for sharing. I have a fairly similar story about how I got into the hobby haha... so many dead fish before I figured things out... ahhh pre-internet.
Despite the fact that I'm sure you'd call me a "snowflake," I've become a fan. I appreciate your transparency and honesty talking about your mistakes as well as your successes and your willingness to admit what you don't know. In a community full of "personalities," you come across as a regular dude who's making money doing something he enjoys. Thanks as always for the great content.
@@MichaelsFishRoomlots of people have called me that in the past because I kind of fit the stereotype. I've made my peace with it; call me whatever you want as long as you don't call me late for dinner. 🤣 Just sayin, and you might choose to delete this comment: I find it laughable that you're cast as the villain in the whole Cookie's fish room drama because I've found those folks (mods and Norm himself) to be extremely judgemental/biased/unkind, and I've never seen that behavior from you either on UA-cam or in Facebook groups. I've found you to be a good man, genuine, honest, and willing to go out of your way to help folks who really need advice rather than ego-stroking. Can't say the same for the folks who run that group.

I don’t think I’ve told you how proud I am of how you really stepped up and changed your lifestyle after the heart attack, but I am, very! You’ve really done good for your family and yourself! Congrats! Hey, and you’re pretty good with fish too! 😆❤️
Michael, thank you this was an awesome video. Very interesting I absolutely love your videos. I think what I like best about them is that you are yourself and a super wealth of knowledge. I thought about all the bad things I could say about Michael, then I thought about all the good things I could say about Michael; so all I’ll say is this: if Michael makes a video, I watch it.
Wait, there are good things?
Ty for this video. You should be proud! I enjoy all your work!
Thanks!
Let’s goooo
Go!
Thanks for sharing. I have a fairly similar story about how I got into the hobby haha... so many dead fish before I figured things out... ahhh pre-internet.
Yeah, you actually had to learn stuff, thanks for watching!
I'm happy for you
Thanks
Mike thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching!
Love the video and learning more about you and fish. Love my fish. AND I love my Subaru. Best car I’ve ever had.
Thanks and Thanks!
At 0:51, Taco says “No, no Dad.” 😂
LOL
😎 Top shelf video
Thank you!
Why would I call you a snowflake?
@@MichaelsFishRoomlots of people have called me that in the past because I kind of fit the stereotype. I've made my peace with it; call me whatever you want as long as you don't call me late for dinner. 🤣
Just sayin, and you might choose to delete this comment: I find it laughable that you're cast as the villain in the whole Cookie's fish room drama because I've found those folks (mods and Norm himself) to be extremely judgemental/biased/unkind, and I've never seen that behavior from you either on UA-cam or in Facebook groups. I've found you to be a good man, genuine, honest, and willing to go out of your way to help folks who really need advice rather than ego-stroking. Can't say the same for the folks who run that group.
@@sarahwoodring5587 Now I am blushing, I didn't know I could do that! LOL Thanks for kind words, I mean I can be an ass at times too, but I do try to help if I can, plus I have an open mind!
Definitely come a long way Michael! Thanks for sharing your story 😊
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Michael for what you do..You have taught me a few things about fish. I really enjoy your videos because you are YOU!
Thank you!
Nice video just got into your videos I find them most helpful and fun to watch I to had a heart attack about 6-7 years ago at the moment all my days run into each other life sucks at the moment but UA-cam and my small tank help me focus when I’m low anyway please keep the videos coming thanks again
Thanks for watching, and things get better.
A nice slice!
Slice?
I'm so aggravated I feel how you sound about life yet didn't sell fish however my tanks always crash and there goes the cy le . I'm at point getting rid fish and breaking down 12 tanks
Maybe start with one, learn the cycle and go from there.
Hearing your origin story we have quite a few things in common. Keep keeping it real.
Origin story sounds so cool!
Great video Michael!

Like how you keep a baby cow down there with you (5:20)
Did you just call me fat? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@MichaelsFishRoom That would be the height of rudeness, and hypocrisy! No, I meant there was clearly a baby cow walking behind you at 5:20 ish
@@AquariumAdventures it was his dog.
@@piffy5594 Yes, I know. Just a joke
It was great to learn the story of how you got where you are. Thanks!!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Can you make a heart attack video one day, and what kind of diet do you think caused it, and how if possible it could of been prevented.
I have one already.
Thank you for sharing you videos. I've learned a lo
Thanks for watching!
Michael, thank you this was an awesome video. Very interesting I absolutely love your videos. I think what I like best about them is that you are yourself and a super wealth of knowledge. I envy you and your ability. I had a stroke in 2014 which changed my life in so many ways I can relate to the way you begin your videos with the healthy snack and beverage! I liked that from the first video of yours I watched. Could you sometime maybe elaborate on the disease you mentioned in this video. I’m learning lots from you and your videos. I thank you VERY MUCH, for sharing your story with us keep up the great work you do for our hobby. You and your family are in my prayers thanks, Martin from Central Florida.
Thanks Martin. I am working on another Columnaris video now.
Nice video
Thanks!
I truly enjoy your videos and your sense of humor, Michael. Now I know why you tell us to grab a healthy snack and beverage! 😊. Keep it up! It sounds like you are passionate about what you do.
Passionate about money! Lol
