  • Now the cost of living crisis and soaring inflation are piling even more pressure on people who are already struggling to pay their bills. And that's taking a toll on their mental health.
    (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
While the Government has promised financial support for vulnerable people including £2.3 billion over the next year to boost mental health services many are turning to charities for help.

I don’t think people grasp how bad the north of England is at the moment. The suicide rate for young males in the north is scary. We’ve lost all but a little of our industry, jobs that kept entire councils employed. Gone and with nothing to replace it. Crime in rural and urban areas are at an all time high. We were desperate for help three years ago. We were promised a new north a levelled up north, hence the red northern block broke. Then covid hit and what little bit of Commerce we had died. The cities held on but towns are like cemeteries, with tombstones of once great stores now boarded up and left. It’s always been a hard life up here but this feels very different now, where before you’d see the people push through it no matter how bad it seemed. That fight just isn’t there anymore and it worries me. When young men see more hope in death than living. That’s when a serious Conversation needs to be had

The reality is is the world is going through drastic change for example: China right now has 1.4 billion people and starting this year 2023 those numbers will drop. By year 2030 analysts feel China will have more retired people then those working and by year 2050 China will be down to around 650 million 1/2 the amount of humans alive today in 27 years. China has had largest population on earth since 1950 but sits 2nd place. Now what does that have to do with U.K the poverty and rest of the world. Well just one of 99 examples I'll stick to one. Women worldwide are no longer getting pregnant and producing MORE females into the world. With females lowering in numbers and iphones stopping folks falling in love in 1st damn place over the next 50 years the population is catastrophically lowered. Most would think well great be less traffic more jobs and more global food to throw round, but the reality is is you need YOUTH to create and invent and without new humans being born sure people have babies every few seconds around earth but not at the proper scale. What happens is or what will happen is the earth with have 90% elderly walking around one day and not as many youth. The likes of Klaus Schwab and Rockefeller and the 3 to 5 elites know this as a problem and this is why when you turn on your T.V or watch clips like this video most sit around dumb founded as to why , why has this happened so quickly. The world sits at 8 billion people, it may sound boring but the population has PEAKED and starting right now will began to fade. It will happen slowly. But now that its known it has caused elites to get creative. One of their creations I feel was the CORONA virus. I watched a video 5 days ago 3-5 days ago there are more athletes dying around the world then ever recorded in human history and no one knows why. These are folks trained to be in competition and to win and the new stats say many many MORE than years 2010-2016 have been dying. Hmmmm. Its all a bit strange.

And unfortunately, these figures came out last year: undoubtably it has gotten even worse. I'm sorry to have to share this and wish the best for your friend, I really do. I know the suffering this has caused so many people - there are people with really very serious suffering, to the point that you wonder how they manage to go on. If you go back and see the psychiatric literature of the early 50s and before, there was nothing like the burden of poor mental health then there is today, and they were far, far less likely to be chronic. When the drugs came in from the mid 50s onwards you would have expected an improving picture, but things have become catastrophically worse, and few are really trying to understand why. They call it mental illness - I prefer to call it social illness. These illnesses, their severity, their capacity to cause disability has transformed and increased in scale beyond any credible medical model explanation. Poverty itself would not be nearly as bad if it weren't also for the isolation and social/familial fragmentation that has become a norm in this appallingly dysfunctional and unhappy society. And the worst part of it is that there are 1.6 million on the NHS adult mental health waiting list but another 8.1 million who were turned away because their problems weren't deemed serious enough - and those were figures that came out last year, so it's undoubtably worse. And what is even worse still is that all the treatment modalities offered are patently ineffective. Psychotherapeutic approaches are only marginally beneficial, though their benefits do at least appear to be real and without known harm. But this treatment modality has been in serious decline since the advent of psychiatric drugs in the 50s and then the second generation in the 80s. Yes, according to drug company funded research, all the approved psychiatric medicines are shown to be marginally to moderately effective over 4 or 8 weeks, but all the long-term studies show a brief initial benefit followed by a progressively worsening condition in every single class of psychiatric medicine, and when compared to people who gave up taking their medications, the latter had lower rates of disability due to mental health and better long term outcomes. If you don't believe me, look up the research compiled by Robert Whitaker either in his meta-analysis entitled 'Anatomy of an Epidemic', or one of his many excellent lectures and presentations on UA-cam where he presents all the evidence, or go to the Council for Evidence Based Psychiatry website which is produced by psychiatrists trying to expose the appalling effects of psychiatric drugs on treatment outcomes over the long term. Also, it is known that atypical (modern) antipsychotics cause enlargement of the amygdala and atrophy of grey matter and overall brain atrophy. They are widely known to also cause obesity, type two diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and all this for a drug that actually makes long-term outcomes much worse, and which results in an average life expectancy 25 years less than the general population.
Also, you can look at the exceptional, world beating recovery rates produced by Finland's 'Open Dialogue' treatment for Schizophrenia which produces an 76% cure rate without chronic medication: in the UK and US, 80% of people with this same diagnosis will be on disability for the rest of their lives. And if psychiatric drug prescription helped any kind of mental health problem over the long term, you'd expect the introduction of the first- or second-generation medications to have produced an improvement in the burden of mental health. Quite the reverse: disability rates due to mental health in the US and UK have increased about 4-fold over that period, and for children in America, who are prescribed more psychiatric drugs than anywhere else in the world, it has gone up 39-fold over the past 40 years. The only disease we should be worrying about here is the disease of psychiatry and psychopharmacology. They are responsible for one of the most shocking, widespread and destructive corporate crimes against humanity ever to come out of the Western world. See the evidence and decide for yourselves.

@@zcharged8294 I've been in one, and believe me, I gave them a piece of my mind: I was going through something extraordinary which I could see plainly that they had not the slightest bit of insight into, only disproven theories about chemical imbalances (disproved in the 80s and widely admitted to being false including by the American Psychiatric Association): if you strip away the theory and supposition and prejudice and opinion and all the other non-facts from psychiatry, there is absolutely nothing left besides psychopharmacology, which doesn't target any known disease process (there are no known psychiatric disease processes and therefore no biological markers that can indicate the presence or absence of any disease): so what do the drugs do? They produce clinically useful effects. If my telephone is driving me mad in the office because it keeps on ringing, and I call the maintenance team, if the psychiatric method was to apply then the maintenance person would 'help me' by cutting the telephone wire. Not really what I had in mind. It is honestly not a dissimilar method to the former psychosurgery (lobotomies etc): they mutilated the brain in the hope of producing clinically useful results, largely by disrupting communication between brain regions. It is a fucking scandal. Not just the facts I outlined, but the appalling human and social consequences. The research radicalizes all those who look into it: an understanding of the scale of the human harm makes you want to destroy the society that gave birth to psychiatry, a society while at the same time is destroying the Earth and all our children's futures. Let's destroy the system that's destroying the Earth I say.

It saddens me deeply to see fellow human beings struggle when it is so unnecessary. This is not their fault & they are scared at what tomorrow might bring. Our mental health should be our main priority, as a species. Otherwise we sicken & die.
Truth be told; this is a global problem which is deeply embedded in our surroundings. After all, it is difficult going to bed in the evenings, knowing that the world shall be in a worse state upon awakening.
Still reading?! Ok, well allow me the opportunity to address you to point out where we all are currently. This is uncomfortable to hear so steel yourself! Our economy, the Free Enterprise System - (money) has allowed, condoned & rewarded humans to carve up nature, abuse other lifeforms, enslave the population, pollute our drinking water, contaminate our food, reduce or obliterate entire ecosystems in our oceans & the like in a way which makes no rational sense whatsoever.
Consider it for a moment if you will? We used to be custodians of our wonderful world. Our ancestors, Hunter Gathers, would only take what is required for all life to flourish. All life has a natural instinct to Survive, Thrive, Multiply & Perpetuate its species. With me so far? Jolly good!
Well there is nothing natural about the system which we refuse to reconsider as obsolete. The economy has to keep growing 3% per year, meaning it doubles roughly every 25 years & yet the planet does not double in size. So we are depleting resources. This sick system has over-ridden our very basic instinct to survive; thus a 6th great extinction event.
My teacher & lecturer sadly passed away in 2017, but he tried to warn us that conditions would worsen if we did not change it ASAP. Not just for the lower class, though they will be hit harder sooner, but for all life on this precious planet. Talk like this out in the streets & they assume you are mad or an extremist! Ha ha!
Our children are suffering greatly, because they feel written off along with their non-existent futures. They are insecure, depressed beyond reckoning, most are self-harming - cutting themselves, & suicide is rife in schools. All hands should be on deck for this, no?
Now, some of you maybe starting to puncture your conditioning by asking questions. I commend you! Never stop asking questions.
How is free will a thing, when it is clear we live as prisoners?
Is Democracy a lie when any choice is an act of separation?
What good are borders & Nationalism at a time when we need Global cooperation?
If Politicians are a slave to Billionaires - who are all enslaved to Greed, what do we do?
If Politics is defunct & the economy is a Self Destruct Button.. What else can we use?
Now, I realize this is all a bit too much to take in, & it probably feels very frightening to even imagine what I am saying as the reality. I am sorry. It is not my intention. And although there is no way for me to realistically explain the solutions to these problems which will soon escalate beyond all imagination, in a few paragraphs... i hope it will stir some vestige of humanity in you to go & find out.
The biggest hurdle seems to be in convincing the general public that we need to supersede money entirely. That part always destroys their identity. But we cannot continue as we are. We are suffering on the whole. Our mental health is a reaction & representation of just how detrimental our culture, our values & our entire society of "Profit before People" has become.
We need to band together & push for change. Don't waste your time trying to convince politicians, bankers, lawyers, etc. They have been utterly consumed by their aberrant culture, & would quite frankly rather destroy an entire civilisation than to try for a new one. Talk to those who are in tune with their humanity.
There are many communities around the globe who support positive change, such as The Venus Project, The Zeitgeist Movement, Moneyless Society, etc who have the support of the Scientific community, but they need public support. If you think you can help spread the word, & give our species a fighting chance to adapt as nature now demands of us, then please.. I beg you to at least consider my words. Don't waste your life believing that these problems shall never affect you directly. Thank you for reading. I am open to questions.
*“If you think we can't change the world, it just means you're not one of those who will.”* ~ My teacher, Jacque Fresco, 1916-2017

I’m approaching my 30s, disabled, living alone, in debt, currently unemployed, chronically ill, skin diseased, in horrific and unsuitable social housing, female, ethnic minority, British born but mistreated and assumed an immigrant, a previous volunteer and employee, being harassed by a perverted and racist male neighbour,
Most people don’t know what poverty is.
I’ve had many unsuccessful suicide attempts.
    I have no support.
I don’t understand how the government of a supposedly rich country are allowing its citizens to literally die and rot of poverty yet it still allows refugees who have better housing handed to them rent free for nothing.
Don’t ask how I’m typing on a device. I’ve worked previously. I bought my contract when I was working. I’m unable to work right now. I’m constantly on the phone negotiating with utility companies, the housing association, mobile phone company and more to whom I apparently owe money.
Foodbanks aren’t exactly a solution nor easily accessible to all.
I’m in agony right now with a plethora of afflictions.
I don’t know what to do.
    Please help me, somebody.
With no exaggeration, I can confidently but suicidally say I must be the poorest woman in the UK in every aspect.
    I hate humanity.

I come from the North, lived in London and now in the West Midlands. I have reached the highest level of education and used to have a very high powered and high paid job but now live in a town with very low income per head. I can see the depravation all around me. Years ago, a study found that the British (read: English) were the loneliest people in Europe. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they are the loneliest in the western world. There are other communities (such as in Minnesota, perhaps) where people live very insular lives but that seems to concern relatively small pockets, not an entire country. To combine this with immense inequality and the resulting deep poverty, that's horrible.
Now I am going to watch this, if my hacking entity will let me. He wanted me to watch something about the NHS instead, that old-fashioned underfunded organization where women are still too often seen as not part of the human species.

Sadly so many ''official'' sources of support seem to be more about supporting those who run these large bureaucracies, CEOs etc and very little often filters down to make a tangible difference to the lives of those they are supposed to be helping. Mentioning no names, some of these ''charities'' are the worst offenders and it's hard not to be cynical. It's a sweet business model when you think about it - free stock and labour, subsidised tax breaks and prime town centre locations. Talk is cheap, what makes a difference is a more equal share of resources.

If it wasn’t for my now late dog and cat I would’ve given up. When ai hear fellow Americans griping about the high cost of food I get mad. Not one of them ever went a day hungry let alone three months and almost died without food. We Poor, whatever country, deserve to eat. It’s not a luxury. We deserve to have a roof over our heads. 2. I'd rather have government approved cannabis than some dodgy paint smelling dogshit I got down the back of an alley from a bunch of violent turks.
      3. It fixes my disorders so it doesn't matter what you barely have the intelligence to think about it.

I've been waiting 10 months now for a referral! Not even treatment just to be referred, then iam told after the referal IL have another 2 months at least. 12 years of suffering and there's pretty much no help out there, I live in northern Ireland. Pretty much have to deal with it on my own. Thanks to fascist Tory government.

They all screwed around in school, failed to get real skills, and now live the consequences.
Should be a lesson. Most won't heed it

Don't expect the government to help you. They don't care. I've started in a company so can't rely on traditional jobs only. Anyone need support let me know

The end user should have the ultimate veto on which service receives their contributions, and the NHS isn't always it. The NHS needs to lose default taxpayer funding in favour of people subscribing to health insurance and services that can include the NHS as just one of many alternative providers on a price comparison website.. only the risk of losing future funding to competing providers can force the NHS to cut waste and focus on the basics of healthcare.

The NHS isnt efficent because we have too mucn top heavy management and because its understaffed.
      Understaffing drives down performance.
Delays in care cause the inital issue to eventually be worse at the point of intervention.
Systems fucked. But imo it not because it needs to be "privatised"
