This really is a brilliant song. Nothing else sounds like it. It doesn't sound like The Beatles, the Stones, Sabbath or Zeppelin - it is 100% original, but still so classic. It almost comes from nowhere and is incomparable.
In a rock era when people still danced, BOC's work didn't resonate with a mass audience. But the hip listeners didn't care. Their material was storytelling, backed by stellar arrangements and powerful playing. They're one of the best in my opinion.
They still sound and look awesome. A song I've heard a million times and I'm still not tired of listening to it. Thanks BOC for years and years of pure enjoyment everytime , very Masterpiece !
It doesn’t matter where I’m at or what show I’m watching this song always finds me. This is my greatest song of all time let’s keep rocking boys and girls. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🌹🌹

BÖC is one of my favourite bands and certainly the most influencial on my work as a composer / musician. I would love your input on the first video of my first album. It got the attention of one of my heroes Joe Bouchard (ex bass player founding members of BÖC) who is following us on Soundcloud but returns from people who likes same music is always the best. If you have just 3 minutes to listen and a bit more to comment, that would mean the world to me. Keep rockin' : ua-cam.com/video/Pu_p1wbaCa8/v-deo.html and also covers on our UA-cam page plus our version of Astronomy to come real soon : ua-cam.com/channels/AmHkrbPSluJvfQuedZw7DQ.html
My dad played it all the time when I was younger. Learnt to appreciate the guitar solo massively. Sad to say he passed in 2019 but it was his curtain close song as we left the crematorium. Ill have it at my funeral 100%
Saw these guys with Albert Bouchard for the 40th Anniversary release of Agents of Fortune, Beverly Hills April 2016. Albert played Cities on Flames for encore with their current drummer. What an epic show! Albert is married to my best friend!
I saw these guys at My Father's Place undercover as Soft White Underbelly In Syosset N.Y. U Couldn't slide a piece of paper between the crowd. Amazing Raw Live performance 👏 Went to 2 Ramones Concers back then... Entire audience bopping up and down together....👍🇺🇲
Why do you think they changed it up? How did you notice this? I’ve always wondered what keys songs I love are in - if there’s a connection. Also, major or minor and the differences?
@@CrazyLG72 You can tune the guitar up and down however you want, so that's definitely not the reason to change the key. Usually bands play in a different key to make the vocals sound better.
Can you imagine what Hendrix would have done to this song? The guy at 00:59 looks like every guy I ever knew back in the 70's. We'd sit in each other's bedrooms with a window open so we could blow the smoke out from the pot we were smoking. A lid was $15, which was three fingers across a baggie. An ounce was $20, which was four fingers across a baggie. We would use a gatefold album like Sgt. Pepper's or Tommy to get the seeds out. Usually, we would talk about different bands that we were into or the lyrics of songs or we'd talk about the girls in high school. It was a lot of fun, man.
The most amazing thing about this is the fact that not only is Austin Powers an amazing spy, he also plays some mean drums. 3:24 mark in particular was the dead giveaway.
Had the honor of seeing them LIVE.. still get chills .Meadowlands ~198...1??... MAGIC ✨ still wonder if those people laying on the ground at the gates woke up'..Black & Blue ',,got there late ...
I like that it is only five musicians up there. Some other gigs I've seen on here they have had more musicans and vocalist accompaniment and IMO it takes over the sonic spectrum. This is the way it should be.
Those two guys have a tight harmony. The original recording was keyed in Am; here they are playing in Bm with Buck having tuned his guitar up a whole note.... the rest of the band simply played two-frets higher. Which is odd --- aging vocalists tend to lose their upper register and want to take the key lower, not higher.
Best version I ever heard of this song, I have been a fan since the mid 70's and have seen them play numerous times over the years. Don't don't know what club they're playing but it's perfect.
This really is a brilliant song. Nothing else sounds like it. It doesn't sound like The Beatles, the Stones, Sabbath or Zeppelin - it is 100% original, but still so classic. It almost comes from nowhere and is incomparable.
@Pfb1994
And hence the beauty of these incredible musicians, no one sounds like them.
In a rock era when people still danced, BOC's work didn't resonate with a mass audience. But the hip listeners didn't care. Their material was storytelling, backed by stellar arrangements and powerful playing. They're one of the best in my opinion.
You come off intelligent🏆🎸🏆 Rock on brother👏🇺🇸👏🏆🎸
@@brnrik500 Thank you!
Buck Dharma.. what an underrated guitarist. This song never gets old.
Buck is god bro...
F...ing great song.......
Fuckin aye, bud
Very underrated, top dog in a live concert!
He's one of rocks underrated!!
When it was first released, we all knew it was a work of art. But then, we realized it was actually a masterpiece which would transcend time. Wow!!!
What a great band, one of the most underrated.
Yeah very under rated
💯🎬
Agree with that statement. HOF worthy.
I disagree. Well respected. Most of us rockers love these guys. First class pioneers.
Misunderstood by many.
I'm 62. I saw BOC in the late 70's. They became one of my favorite bands after that. I still listen to them today. They still sound fucking great.
DITTO! ...except, I'll be 62 in May
Me 2! They played at the Ionia Free Fair in Ionia Michigan in 83. Best concert ever. no comparison. 🏆🎸🏆
Undoubtedly one of the best guitar pieces ever written....timeless.

One of my all time favorite songs! I love many covers of it, but nothing beats the original for me. Legendary tune.
All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain, we can be like they are
Come on baby, don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand, don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly, don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man
La, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la
Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity, Romeo and Juliet
40, 000 men and women everyday, Like Romeo and Juliet
40, 000 men and women everyday, Redefine happiness
Another 40, 000 coming everyday, We can be like they are
Come on baby, don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand, don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly, don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man
La, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la
Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared, saying don't be afraid
Come on baby, and she had no fear
And she ran to him, then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodby, she had become like they are
She had taken his hand, she had become like they are
Come on baby, don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun the rain, we can be like they are
This song just isn't the same without Gene Frenkel. RIP buddy!
Dude had a fever!
Amen!

Been listening to this song since I was in high school. Will be listening to it on my death bed. Love it! Love B.O.C.!

I'm in the same age group and i know where your coming from Frank . The best of the 70's and the best of BOC....

Same.Best year ever.
EPIC...A MASTERPIECE OF ROCK !!! 👍🤟🎸🎤🎼🥁😎 GREETS FROM GERMANY 🇩🇪
Masterpiece! Best time of rock and roll 60's and 70's!!!
Saw these guys with Albert Bouchard for the 40th Anniversary release of Agents of Fortune, Beverly Hills April 2016.
Albert played Cities on Flames for encore with their current drummer. What an epic show!
Albert is married to my best friend!
Pure passion, pure 70s- the best ever
damn what a great song! Heard this for the first time when I was 14 in the intro of The Stand and was blown away by it ever since.
Bucks very best rendition of this song! Brilliant guitar fills!
Have seen BOC 3Xs... NEVER a bad show... Buck is most certainly one of the MOST UNDER RATED GUITARISTS OUT THERE!!! Rock on BOC!!!
Cheers from Brazil! 2024. What an amazing song! 🎸
so many nights I would wake up in the middle of the night, and this song seemed to always be playing then, just an iconic song for the ages
what a song. What a band.
This Music is Beautiful - every little sound and note is crisp with an Inner Soul Expression. Timeless Legendary Classic! #ILovedThisSong
Never get enough of this charming song.
Never knew they could shred a solo section like that. Impressive!
I saw their live in Tokyo. I still love this song.
One of the greatest rock bands of all time, BOC.!!!
Heard this song one day while I was playing a game called prey in 2006, been a fan ever since
Buck Dharma hasn't lost his touch at all.
One of the best live performances ever!
This song always make my day better
I love the key they're playing this in B instead of A so cool calm and amazingly tight as hell..
Why do you think they changed it up? How did you notice this? I’ve always wondered what keys songs I love are in - if there’s a connection. Also, major or minor and the differences?
@@wendyraye either it's easier for Buck to sing it in B minor or the band just wanted to play it this way, possibly easier on the guitar
@@CrazyLG72 thanks!
@@CrazyLG72 You can tune the guitar up and down however you want, so that's definitely not the reason to change the key. Usually bands play in a different key to make the vocals sound better.
@@falsemcnuggethope exactly! Well said
I come back to this video often. Buck's last solo is something else. He has his own voice, for sure.
Incredible! I have chills going down my spine. You don't hear music like that these days.
Yes you do, Magna Carta Cartel for example
BOC sound better than ever. Thanks for posting.
when my mom died
I listened to this music all the time.
thank you mom for all
My Time Machine Music!!!!
Unreal music, impressive, master, guitar semi god, a human song for humanity times, desperation for live

A masterpiece.

Timeless talent!! 💥💥💥💥💥
I’ve got to see them one more time before I go see the reaper ..... Blue Oster Cult forever !!!!!!!!
I like that it is only five musicians up there. Some other gigs I've seen on here they have had more musicans and vocalist accompaniment and IMO it takes over the sonic spectrum. This is the way it should be.
Its lyrically beautiful. And deep. .. amazing
Bono with cheese guitar + Austin powers having a cowbell overdose = masterpiece
Fuck... now I got tears in my eyes because my mom just went through this a month ago.
"It was clear that she couldn't go on." That's the line that killed me just now. That was a month ago.
I couldn't sing that line. I couldn't.
I’m sorry for your loss man. Such a powerful song
Great bass playing
A ROCK MASTERPIECE !
Love this song
Just the right amount of cowbell!
One of the greatest songs in the world :)
Classic song, just like an expensive bottle of vino....with more and more ageing it gets so more interesting and sweeter..🏆🏆
a song beyond compare.
The tragedy of life is not that it ends quickly, but that we don't start living for a long time.
(William Ward)
If I could time travel to a past show, It'd be 1980. The "Black and Blue" tour. Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult. What a double bill!!!
Got to know about them just after reading the 3rd Cormoran Strike ... Quite cool...
только поклон исполнителям :-)
Needs more Cowbell
This band is soooo good and underrated. Sometimes I like this album more than some of pink floyd’s lol
Great, Unusual! They playing one note higher than the orignal version. Mostly singer sing lower after many years.
Those two guys have a tight harmony. Which is odd --- aging vocalists tend to lose their upper register and want to take the key lower, not higher.
Hey, you do what you can.
More COW BELL!!!!
Wow what a great band love
Interesting solo at the end.
👌 awesome, just needs more cow bells
Que buenos son....
Lemme tell ya...the ground rocked ...!!
Bem que a mamãe disse tudo que é bom está em vinil muito boa a banda é do tempo da mamãe...

One of the greatest guitar riffs in rock history...more cowbell!

Unreal.......YEAH
Cool version but still intriguing to listen to 👍
Friggin Kasim Sultan on bass, wow
Best version I ever heard of this song, I have been a fan since the mid 70's and have seen them play numerous times over the years. Don't don't know what club they're playing but it's perfect.
