As a music enthusiast I have to believe that Kurt is not turning over in his grave, but is appreciating the passion these people have for music and their attempt not to recreate his song, but to simply make it their own. Same song. Different interpretation. a beautiful tribute in my opinion.
As a Nirvana fan, I must congratulate this guys for such an amazing and fresh cover. It's not just about repeating the music, but to give it your own touch. Great work!
and from one fan to another i didn't know Kurt used keyboards when he didn't feel like singing his intro for the first 10 seconds nor did i know that Kurt had a drum machine for a drummer

I love how this cover has a completely different vibe and sound to the original. It's so good to see another Aussie band putting there original touch on a much loved song! I'm obsessed with this cover!!!
You know nothing will touch the original. And I still really think this version is very atmospheric and contends respectably with any cover out there, including massively famous bands with household names. But whether you like this version or you don't, it should never be down thumbed. It's encouraging to see 20-somethings giving such praise to the 90's and nirvana. This is just another way it stays alive. And every little bit brings rock music closer to it's triumphant return to glory.
If you listen to this as an independent song, and not compare to the song of which they are covering, it's actually quite haunting and beautiful. Like a Versions should not be compared to the song that they are covering, and instead, judged as an independent song. If they wanted to be compared to the original song, they wouldn't add their own twists, and instead try and make their song sound as much like the original as they possibly could.
Completely agree... I do my best, not always successful, to not thing of the original version, allowing the covers to really be appropriated... and then towards the end, I always catch myself comparing the two ... and so far, this channel has not let me down.... there are a lot of junk covers of great songs here in the UA-cam world
Like A Version nails another one and the purpose is "not to copy" the song and instead own it. Big Scary turns the song upside down. They take all the anger out of the song and make it into a soothing sexy song.
This is hands down one of my favorite nirvana songs and i actually love this. Its not Nirvana but i still love this take on the song. I feel they really hit the nail on the head in what Like a Version should be, its twist on the original is rather soothing - say what you will and haters going to do their thing cause they 'know nirvana better then you because of reasons made up' but this is great!
Okay, This is amazing. Seriously, I never cared for this song growing up. Too harsh. I know, hate me. But this made me fall in love with the song and actually hear it for the first time. The lyrics, the melody, the meaning. I never realized how spiritual the message is; I actually picture walking down the aisle to it. It's truly about loving somebody, no matter how they show up. BRAVO! And extra bravo for dealing with the passive aggressive mocking from the DJs who are simply jealous of your talent and think they are not being painfully obvious as they attempt to shame you. They lost because you are brilliant. Thank you from Los Angeles for making me so happy with this cover. DJs bow down. Soho Haus Rules - Jackie Hyme
Read the comments before watching the video and I was already disappointed but after listening I loved this version. It's original, fresh and soothing. To each his own eh?
I absolutely love this cover, such a relaxing vibe from the band and awesome voice from the singer. I love any cover where someone uses those little shakers haha
Just listening to this now to get a short list for voting in Triple J Like a Version hottest 100 and I missed this one when originally released. Love the cover!! However I can pick up hints of an 80s/early 90s tune underneath it. Anyone else hear it or is it just the sounds Big Scary put out with that sax and bongos etc make it sound a bit 80ish?
It's 2020, I'm under quarantine due to COVID-19, and I'm digging for good music. This cover is awesome! I really dig his vocals, but the first thing I noticed was the tone of that jazz bass. 👌🖤 Nicely done, three years later.
I'm a freaking huge Nirvana fan, they really helped me when i was a teenager and I've got to say that this cover really is awesome. I love the way they portrayed this song. I think songs like this really help show much of a genius Kurt really was. His harmonies and song writing are second to none in my opinion. This cover really brings that out. Damn good cover, that dude has a really good voice too.
This is so lovely! Like, I hear this and go like, fuck, Cobain wrote this heart wrenching ballad but we were too busy focusing on the guitar licks the whole time. It's vocal driven fucking love this shit.
I love the original but WOW as others have mentioned already, this is what doing a cover is all about. It's very daring and clever with its haunting tones. I get sort of Love Will Tear Us Apart vibes when I listen to this. Amazing cover honestly!
Such a complex and smoothing version of the iconic Nirvana’s Come as you are. Utterly amazing, Kurt would appreciate this for what it is. Keep up the great work.....
this is what a cover is supposed to be. Anyone can play an 'almost' good enough copy... bring something different to it. I dont like it, but thats beside the point.

Beautiful cover. Kurt would love every second. If anything he'd be incredulous that anyone created something so beautiful out of something he had written.
Can't believe I've never heard this before, in the 10 years I've been listening to Like a Version. This has to be, a literate ideal of Like a Version, this is not just a cover, it is an orginal interpretation, truly awesome.

Love the original and the idea is to put your stamp on things, its an interesting take on the song, christ. Nothing will be the original what are people expecting.
Honestly at first I thought I didn't like it, but then I thought about Kurt, Nirvana, and all they went through. This is almost like an homage to their struggle, their pain. No one can compare nor try to be exactly what Nirvana is. I applaud and appreciate this version.
It’s not the vibe I prefer for my music. That’s just a personal taste thing. But they did everything well, it was a nice arrangement, and a distinct mood. And that dude can sing.

This is one of the best covers I've heard. Fantastic. And the fact that it has a different haunt to it altogether is just insane. I have good reason to believe Kurt Cobain would have loved this.
I relate music to my life, my mum passed away in 2015, this song makes you think about shit. I've grown so much since she left us and this such a beautiful way to reflect on things.
