    Thanks everybody for the great comments here, and I can’t thank Mick and Dan enough, Had a great time hanging at Gearhead University and these guys are tops- it’s starting to feel like we are old pals now and it’s not lost on me that it’s youtube that has really spawned some great new friendships. Traditional valve amp + digital IR's - best of both worlds. Congratulations Suhr and Pete for figuring out what nobody else managed to (for some bizarre reason)

    • @justingarcia7722
      @justingarcia7722 5 років тому +2

      When you look at the market there aren't a ton of really good IR options which tells me it's hard to get right and requires a lot of R&D...Suhr has these resources, his reactive load is arguably the best IMO...that specific reaction is tough to recreate so I'm guessing that's why we haven't seen this already but we prob will see a ton now

    I'm a Pete Thorn geek, I made an artic white HSS Strat (based off his HSS Suhr) with the star pickup being a Thornbucker Plus in the bridge then the singles are V60LP's. Now this would be an amp that I'd buy and I don't own any amps. I'm pretty much all digital but the built in IR's would be perfect for me. I like the brightness, every note is articulate and clear. The tone 15:20, oh hell yes!!!!!! Pete, you need to your signature guitar in white, I'd be a player.

  • @Scratch_Monsters_Golf
    @Scratch_Monsters_Golf 5 років тому +3

    Got home after the gig and this popped up in my recommendations. Here I am a couple hours later, still awake, and pretty sure I’ve never been as excited to try a new amp as I am to get my hands on one of these. I’m a diehard vintage tube amp guy, and if a vintage one isn’t available then it HAS to be all tube (i.e. in a cheap backline situation I’ll request a ‘65 DRRI or a Hot Rod Deville as a last resort). This head looks like it may very well be the best of all worlds in one. 15 watts (I’m assuming Class A/B) is WAY louder than most folks think. I have yet to play a show that a 15 watt, point to point tube amplifier couldn’t pull off. Are there gonna be situations where a bigger amp would be ideal? Of course. But if no other option is available, the 15 watter will get you through the gig with ease. And let’s be honest, 99% of players will never play a venue large enough to be able to get a 100 watt tube amp to the sweet spot anyway, but I digress. Back to the PT 15. So, it’s the most usable wattage (IMO) and in addition it has three separate channels that appear to be able to produce almost any tone you would ever be asked to pull up, built in reactive load so there is no cab required, and a bank for 16 IRs that are each assignable to any of the three channels?!?!? For me, that’s as close as you can get to the perfect amp. Finally someone has figured out how to blend what we all love about vintage tube amps with modern technology and keep it from sounding like a cheap imitation. If this were released by Line 6 or Boss I wouldn’t even give it a second look, but Suhr doesn’t have a reputation of putting out shitty products. There is also the fact that every band I play guitar for runs ears and has multiple harmony singers that aren’t fond of guitarists that are loud. With this, if I wanted, I could literally run a line to FOH, the band can mix me into their ears and can get even the heavier crunch tones I want with ZERO stage volume! Maybe $3k isn’t that bad for possibly the last head I ever have to buy. Of course, I’ve told myself that “this is the last amp/guitar” BS before and failed miserably. I mean, what guitarist has that kind of self control?! 😂

    Yayyyyy! Pete Thorn is on TPS! Seriously great amp! I just wish it sounded a bit more Vox like since my tone is wrapped around an ac30 but maybe I could throw one of those Vox preamp pedals. No amps allowed on stage where I play now and I’m sorry but the helix even though it’s great and no one in the audience knows. The pain of having to dial in patches and tweak etc just is a pain and it’s missing tubes man! Give me an old fashioned tube amp and modern tech with the IRS to keep the sound guy happy and this could be a winner. I’ll have to try it out with a good Vox preamp and hopefully it will play nice with the 6v6s!
    Please get Pete over to the UK and do a proper TPS! I’d be stoked!

    Weirdly reminds me of my old 6l6 jcm900 dual reverb, with the cleans and mahoosive gain on tap. The laney Irt-studio which Ive just got is very much in the same vein but the stored IRs are a touch of genius, I'm considering a Mooer Radar for my IRs. And shout out to the Harley Benton G212 vintage, redonkulously cheap v30 plywood cab which sounds awesome.

    This has made me want to hear Dan, with that neglected Ibanez Gem, reliving his Australian, high-gain days. Dan, I know for a fact those days happened. Will the hair to mullet, push forth your metal ways. Yours in metal, I remain,...

    Great amp there. But when Mick says, "Ah! That's the amp we should be making!" This is exciting as well. What's the competition going to do to respond? this seems like a watershed moment in amp history.

      Guitar Ted yeah, seems inevitable the rest will also build in the irs. The wave of reactive load boxes with ir is already here though, and a great option for people who already own conventional tube amps, which is all of us really. The suhr ir, ox and boss waza tube amp expanded are all great

    • @johnsuhr6559
      @johnsuhr6559 5 років тому

      There is no Ir of their Mic setup and we really don’t know if EQ was applied to the mic. But if you liked their setup and it was nice you could do your own IR of that setup and I’d bet you’d never hear the difference.

    This is a cool concept . A lot of 60 hz creeping in. Hope theres a ground lift switch to be found. 1'4 inch out or XLR out?

    This might be the among the best do-it-all amps on the market today. That the head goes for about $2,700 USD will frustrate a lot of people, but I think that's a fair price given everything else it includes. That said, I do wish it was a few thousand pennies cheaper. :)

      Highly, highly unlikely. It sounds very very cool, but this didactic opposition to OD pedals in favour of amp gain in a lot of people is just plain weird.

    The amp sounds great, but as I've got older I like my amps to have fewer and fewer knobs and switches. Sold my Mesa Boogie Mark 5:25 and got a Morgan PR36. Only 1 channel, 5 knobs. Just a world class clean amp. Simplicity is bliss for me, but I can understand the place an amp like this has. Killer sounds.

    Pete, I'm a big fan of your playing style! There seems to be no end to your musical creativity! You've got mad skills on the fretboard! Simply AMAZING! But you seem to have the "skittles" when joining other musicians for a sit-down jam or interview. Like you're nervous or something and put too many words into explaining something about an amp, guitar or pedal. Just a little feedback for ya, bro! Keep Rockin!
