    My dad had this same Polaroid 600 Close Up camera for yeeeeears, I traveled to visit him and I had my instax mini with me, so he gave to me his Polaroid camera. He said that the last time he used this camera was more than 20 years ago. I bought film for the camera and it charged, but when I tried to take one picture it started to shoot non stop hahaha the camera literally wasted all the pack of films. I only got two pictures, but I think I might have did something wrong, but the camera still working and thats amazing.

    • @romero-kyun2681
      @romero-kyun2681 5 років тому +4

      old cameras tend to have their shutters left open, that would explain the motor ejecting the films while trying to close the shutter... such a waste of film sadly

      Sometimes the trigger release can dislodge and keep triggering the motor

    • @wonderwanny
      @wonderwanny 3 роки тому +1

      @@hitbyabus4615 That was exactly what happened, the button was stuck and kept triggering, but then I bought a new pack and was careful when shooting and I was able to use every film of the pack and took some real good polaroids.

    When i was 15 i got myself the polaroid 600 camera from eBay and i did not expect it to work because its eBay.. so for years i used all of my other cameras and just had the 600 up on a shelve in my room, until october last year i decided to buy film just to try it out and its like $20 for only 8 pictures so i was really hoping it would work and it did now its my favorite camera and i literally use it for ever occasion and my friends and family gave me film for it as a side gift during christmas! i really recommend that camera to anyone that loves cherishing memories

    I have been shooting Polaroid since 2001, and I have used all of their formats, and the SX-70 is my favorite. I feel in love with it with a SLR 680 I got at a flea market in it's beat up original box for $7 and never looked back.
    Keep shooting everyone, please keep it alive!

    I wish you mentioned the SX-70 film's particularities, some people might not realize you really need a bright day to shoot it, or a flash, which is another investment :D

      I actually got a really nice working Vivitar flash for SX-70 recenetly, and it cost me like 7 dollars including shipping, I absolutely love. It’s a nice option if you don’t want to invest a lot of money into mint flash.

    Nice video, but i think, i have got some tips left for camera choices:
    - Try to find a good Polaroid Spectra/Image camera. Most of them are using glass lenses to create really sharp pictures with some bokeh, build quality is pretty good and the pictures themselves are bigger. In the fact, bigger than 600 or sx70 film. I've got one and i think, they might be the best choice for beginners. Although i have to admit, that 600er polaroid cameras have some cooler designs.
    - Buying a used older model of a Fuji Instax won't be bad either. A few years ago, i have bought a Fuji Instax 100 for just 8€ at a flea market.
    And nowadays, they are still cheaper than a new one. And talking about the picture quality, they all use plastic lenses and the handling itself is pretty similar.
    And talking about functions, the Instax 300 isn't that much better, there aren't new features really.
    So this might save some money, too.
    - Some shops sell 10 picture/pack of Instax mini for about 10€. And there are much more different variants. You can get a Fuji instax film with one of those freaking minions if you like.
    And Instax Mini provides a grayscale film, the Wide format doesn't!
    Also, you can get much more creative with most Instax mini cameras, like double exposion or long exposures. There is only ONE Instax Wide camera with some more creative/professional features and it is from Lomography. And it costs more than a Fuji Neo 90. And it is not as good as the lens from the Fuji cameras.

      On facebook look up Chris Levitan, he refurbishes SX-70s and sells them on the Film Photo Gear group. They are all really well priced and for what you would pay from an untested eBay reseller you'll get a CLA'd and tested SX70. I got a beautiful Model 2 from him and it works flawlessly (with a warranty!)

    Shot-per-shot, if you don't develop at home, Instax Mini is literally cheaper per frame than 120 film.
    If you're just going to run your film through a Holga or something, might as well go with something that takes Instax.

    I love my SX-70, but i find myself using and spending more money on my Instax camera a lot more. I like the design of the SX-70, but i'm finding it harder to justify. I'm just not willing to pay that much for the film so i'm considering just selling it and putting the money toward an Instax 500af.

    • @AnalogThings
      @AnalogThings  6 років тому

      Hey Bryan, i really understand you. Sometimes it's hard to justify the you spend way more money for Polaroid Originals film then for Instax. Which Instax Camera are you using at the moment? I'm currently working on a Large Format Back for Instax Wide, and guess i will do alot of my future work with the Graflex and the Instax Back.

    • @BryanRollinsTV
      @BryanRollinsTV 6 років тому +1

      I'm currently using the Polaroid 300. It actually gives incredibly sharper pictures than you'd expect. It catches me off guard every time. I do wan't something with more control. I scan all my instax images and enlarge them as well for prints for my family as gifts so size really isn't an issue, granted i do tend to give most of my original shots away on the spot. It also has a flash built-in which i use to trigger studio lights . idk, i guess i feel more creative with instax since i have more film to practice with for my money. I would like a little more control tho. I was considering the Neo 90 until i found out about the 500af.

    • @AnalogThings
      @AnalogThings  6 років тому +1

      Yeah, it's great what information you can get out of that little format ;) Yeah thats one thing that i dont like about most Instant Cameras, that you have no control over exposure, i have to take a look at the 500AF really don't know anything about it. BTW love your drawing video.

    I got a Polaroid Joy Camera back in 1999 I think. It has a handle to pull out films. But 500 film is no longer available. Is it possible that I use Fuji or Impossible Project film? Like let it developed inside, then pull out films all at once when done? No? Silly?

    Sehr schönes Video! :) Ich habe eine Polaroid 660 Sun AF und auch eine Instax Mini 90 neo classic (toller, kurzer Name.. 😅) aber ich glaube so richtig glücklich wäre ich mit dieser wunderschönen SX-70 😍. Die Instax hat tolle Funktionen, bietet extrem viel Kontrolle und liefert immer ab, wenn man nicht persönlich gerade die Einstellungen verhaut... aber leider sind die Bilder so winzig. Vielleicht hätte man in diese Liste noch die Instax 500 AF nehmen sollen, aber die geht inzwischen auch schon für SX-70 Preise über den Tisch. Naja, die einzige gute Instax im größeren Format ist wohl die Lomoinstant Wide, hast Du mit der evtl. Erfahrungen gemacht?
    Ich hoffe wohl weiter auf eine SX-70, vielleicht finde ich ja eine unterm Weihnachtsbaum.. 😅
    Aber echt toller Kanal, Keep up the good work! :D

      Hey, ja die SX-70 is schon sehr hot muss ich sagen ;) Wegen der 500AF, die hatte ich garnicht am Radar muss ich gestehen werd sie mir mal genauer anschauen was die so kann, aber so find ich Instax Wide echt nett und ich mach mir beim fotografieren auch nicht immer gedanken ob das jetzt auch wert is ein foto zu machen. Ja mit der Lomo Wide habe ich letztens ein paar Fotos gemacht da will ich in naher zukunft auch ein How To dazu machen, die find ich ganz nett obwohl sachen wie die closeup lense halt eine frechheit sind, kann man nur raten wo die schärfe liegt. Aber sobald ich da mehr Zeit investiert hab kommt ein video dazu ;)

    Hello! I really need some help. I want to buy a vintage Polaroid but I worry about if it works or not. I have found some that say they work, but the sellers haven’t tested it taking photos. My question is that if the camera does functionally work, as long as you get new film, should it be okay? Do I need to worry about the actual camera having something wrong and still not taking photos even though the film is new?

    • @AnalogThings
      @AnalogThings  6 років тому

      Hey, Polaroid Cameras are really robust so most of the time they just work if you put a new film inside of them. There is always a small chance that they have a problem but you should be fine. What i wonder is how people say it works if the have not put film through it, the only way to see if it works.
