    I honestly thought she couldnt pull this piece off, given I had seen her play really fast and virtuosic before. However this truly captures the somber nature of the piece. I love it! I feel embarrassed that I felt otherwise

    she is a master in the interpretation of all classical pieces in my opinion.. I swear she could even be possessed by each of the composers when ever she plays their pieces.. You are an amazing pianist!!!!

      I personally believe that she must be possessed by two (I'm positively sure .!), Rachmaninoff & Liszt.

      op 55 was absolutely mesmerizing! At first I thought the tempo was slower than I am used to hearing however the second section drew a sharp contrast making the complete interpretation yours and yours only .. wonderful Mrs Lisistsa!!

    For me, she is the best pianist I have ever heard....someone eventually comes along and its just a perfect fit....I wish I could pinpoint my love for her playing, all I can say is it just sounds "right".....BEAUTIFUL

    I've heard so many versions of this piece where the performer rushes through it and plays it a bit too fast, I absolutely love this rendition, she takes her time and really brings out the emotion and beauty of it.

    Sorry, I'm a spanish speaker and I don't know how to translate it exactly. Anyway, it would be when some basses are shifted backwards in tempo, so the bass actually sounds before the corresponding note in the singing line. I like this resource, but I think it is rather overused here...it kind of annoy me a little bit :)

    While I can appreciate she is a very refined and skillful pianist, I actually find this rendition too personalized as she is reinventing Chopin. The "limping" tempo is unnatural to me as trying to find a deeper meaning which is actually given already by the music itself. In other words, I feel she is in the way. Rubinstein and Arrau are so far my favourite interpreters of this piece

    In the top 3 pianist of this genre...she is ... absolutely prestigious technique...she pockets most..trills, rubatos, and accuracy with fast fast temp she is the best..also strong controlled emotion is her aura ...a great smile ..I also think there is this competitiveness about her....these are my opinions of Valintina Lisitsa.

    I dunno, but am I the only one who feels she's playing to slowly, I feel as if she's breaking important pieces of the song which go together create beautiful sounds.. It feels as if the full effect of these beautiful sounds is not really working with the tempo.

    • @mcinshadley
      @mcinshadley 7 років тому +4

      If you're talking about the f minor, then It's not just you. I think that her tempo is a little slow, but the bigger problem, for me, was her excessive use of rubato. She often changed the tempo from one musical phrase to another, and sometimes even within the phrase.
      I thought her f major was nice though.

    I like to think that, we will have a great composer, or many like that in our time. In that, we will get passed the super-dissonant (but still charming!) ways of fennesey and others, and learn to cultivate both modernism and romanticism in our compositions. It may be a few years, but I think that we shall have some great composers in our time.

    These compositions, this avant style, the works of cage, schoenberg, boulez, etc. They did what musicians had been struggling to do for centuries, in that they completely abolished all set constructs of what could be considered music. Now, we, the generation of musicians that survived this, can use whatever style we want to compose. That in itself makes those men geniuses.

    Although I am a big fan of Ms. Lisitsa, I feel that her tempo was a bit sluggish in the F minor nocturne. I think Chopin would have preferred less rubato and a more even flow. He was a stickler for using a metronome. I do respect her interpretation though. It was more emotional than technical and she conveyed a sense of loneliness and longing.

    • @zorglub667
      @zorglub667 5 років тому +1

      i thought the same thing. its incredibly hard to find that right amount of minimalistic rubato that is needed to get that magic balance between emotion and slightly distanced nobility that is needed for the nocturnes.
      to me, even after all these years, rubinstein remains the benchmark as far as that perfect balance is concerned. just came here from his recording of the same nocturne, and in comparison this just feels a bit overacted.
      which of course is nitpicking at an absurdly high level when talking about the almost alien level piano player that is Mrs. Lisitsa. but id say, the sheer fact that youre in the league where people find it appropriate to compare your performances to rubinstein is all thats needed to say about what level Lisitsa is at.
